One thing to take into consideration in regards to price is that it includes transport and overnight accomodation. So to really compare, youd have to add one night at a hotel to whatever price youre comparing it to (plane, shinkansen, ect).
(Although, an additional caveat to that is you will probably get better sleep in a hotel)

Loved this! You're getting pretty *skillful* at integrating Skillshare ads! (see what we did there? 😁) this looks way more comfortable than trying to sleep on a plane, that's for sure! Thanks for sharing it with us!

so punny and funny :) Thanks! 😃it was definitely more spacious and comfortable than sleeping on a plane!

Ok is it weird to comment on a video and compliment an ad? Because that Skillshare transition + integration was 👌👌👌 I hate busses but somehow sort of enjoy watching YT videos about them. 😂 Nice work y’all! -S

Really appreciate that! Haha it was a fun one to do ☺️ buses are a special form of transportation for sure, but we were so curious too! :)

I'd like to nominate you two for Video Vloggers' Best Soundtrack at the next awards night, should such a thing exist. The mysterioso track during the night-time bus segment was particularly splendid.

That bus looked amazing, it's a shame it's so expensive though. I wish we had something like that here in Australia.

I always have wanted to do the night bus thing. I do know it’s a bit pricier then flying or using the Japan Rail Pass but there is main benefit you missed. If you ride a Shinkansen and you leave about 10am on a Monday morning and arrive under 3 hours later let’s say 12:45am. You had to pay for accommodations for Sunday night (Tokyo) and Monday night (Osaka). If you plan it right you could have checked out of a hotel Sunday morning, left your main luggage at storage at the bus station, enjoyed the whole Sunday around Tokyo, head back to the bus station grab your things and get on the bus Sunday night. So basically you are just spending what you would have spent for your Sunday accommodation on the bus ticket. Cost of bus then becomes sort of equivalent to cost of Shinkansen + 1 night accommodation. Plus you don’t lose the 3 hours of travel that you could have been doing something else. You are traveling when you are sleeping. I think it would be amazing to fall asleep in one place and wake up in a completely different place. Finally if you were just doing a day trip to Osaka, booked a round trip on the bus you could in theory have left your main luggage in Tokyo storage, not need a hotel room for Sunday or Monday night as you would be riding the bus back on Monday night.

yes! we typically love the combination of transportation + accommodation, which is usually why we try these types of things (as well as the unique experience.) this bus ride saved us that cost of accommodation (which would have been about $60 or so.) We did store our luggage at Shinjuku station that day, explored and grabbed our things before heading out to the bus, which worked out great. The real bummer, as with most overnight trips like this, is arriving at 7am and not being able to check in to your next hotel. We stored our things and spent the day at Spa World, which was a pretty big win :)

@@LisaAndJosh thanks for the reply. I’m so glad you agree. Yeah I agree that getting in so early makes it hard to check in but most hotels I’ve visited in Japan will store the luggage for you till it is time for you to check in.
Anyway, love watching your videos. You guys are so wonderful. I’m from Oahu and the videos from your apartment overlooking the beach made me so envious. I would love to find a place like that with such an amazing view since I work in Waikiki.
