Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the greatest games for the Nintendo Entertainment System (and later 2D Nintendo consoles like the Super Nintendo and Game Boy Advance) and its predecessors (Super Mario Bros. 1 1985 and Super Mario Bros. 2 1988) come close, but the fact that people didn’t think that RoboWarrior was an underrated gem don’t get that this is another one of the best NES games that could rival Mario 3. So what if they’re early NES games made in the late 1980s?! Regardless of the time, they will always kick ass!
RoboWarrior is a novel take on elements from several Hudson games. It's not as immediately accessible as many NES action games were, but once you have a feel for what the game expects of you, it stops being painfully hard and becomes quite a good amount of fun.
One thing I liked about renting games back then, you had NO idea what you were going to experience from the box alone. This was one of those games, and it stuck with me. I loved it, even though it frustrated the hell out of me.
Oh my GOD. I finally found the game I played back when I was Seven. It was my older brothers game but when he wasn't playing on his nes I played his games. I never payed attention to the name of the game but I remember playing this game often. I could never beat it but I enjoyed playing Robowarrior. ^^
Wow, I forgot all about this game and then I just saw a screenshot online and it restored a distant memory. Could it be, a game from my childhood, long forgotten? Here I am watching it and oh my gosh, I can't wait to play it again. The music kicks by the way!
This was the first nintendo game I beat. And somehow, I still remember it fondly. Yet, sometimes I really think if I could beat it without resorting to grinding that gets mind-numbing somewhere in the last third of the game. Meaning, I pretty much always leave a level with 99 bomb stock, blast off literally every last bush/tree/whatever I can (sometimes level layout makes it impossible, but then I just do what I can) and whenever I have enough candles in inventory I go for the dungeon to stock up more items... adding this style of playing to the modest amount self-preservation around enemies, it's a pretty surefire way of beating the game. But it really starts feeling a chore at certain point. And it also makes a run take considerably longer time.
I saw this game back when I was really young, but for the life of me I could not remember what it was called. The parts I remember the most vividly are the ones where you walk around in the dark with that haunted house sounding music playing.
me too man. this was the first game i remember playing as a kid when we lived in germany in the early 90's i was like 4 or 5 at the time. mostly my mom and brothers played the games and i watched cuz i was too young to play them very well. but this game always resonated with me as being very difficult but fun and i never saw any of us beat the game. then as the years passed i forgot about it and its name. then one day i was binging some nes game longplays and tada i fully remembered this game
Nice! I've actually seen this game being referred to as a spin-off of Bomberman in quite a few sources. I guess you could say that's basically what it is - it doesn't feel like Bomberman, even though some of the same elements are there. I remember being able to beat it once or twice back in the day, but it took me a rather long time.
This game has some Simon's Quest quality : - It's cryptic - divergent from the first game (Bomberman) - easy on the second playthrough - tedious - and has limited kickass soundtrack But after several attempts to figure out the gameplay, I started to really enjoy this underrated game.
If there was ever an alarm for your phone to get up, it would be the sound of when your energy tank is low and you're 1 step away from blowing yourself up. Yes, this happened to me playing this game and the sheer rage of knowing you had to start all over again resulted in the wired controller being thrown across the room and dragging the entire nes with it.
I had a paper route when that was a thing. Had a rental account with a mom 'n' pops 3 blocks away. Robowarrior in less than 3 days for $3 and something cents.
Never heard of this game but it sure has a pretty damn good soundtrack, the gameplay is not bad either, not the best nes game out there but definitely not the worst either.
Man I only beat this years later on an emulator, as my NES was shipped off to the Philippines and subsequently burned out by my cousins back there. THIS GAME WAS HARD.
@@metalfuk69 It must have been misleading when this came out because the Internet didn't really exist. People probably thought Jaleco developed this game, but in truth, _they did not._
I remember i stayed blocked helpless in 2-1. 27 years later I see the wall could be destroyed.... :/ It was one of the first game I played on the nes, it was hard as hell and i only had the cartridge with no manual...but the music was top and i remember very well the intro music too
Don’t feel to bad, my mom and I played for years before we learned select brought up the subscreen for the items. Every game we just prayed to find the instant energy capsules.
Guys me too. I Was a Kid (3+) with no clue in English language , and i Never used Powerups or stuff like that..anyway it Was funny...And o my god..THIS music ..stuck in my Brain bad time!
I remember there was supposed to be a Robowarrior for the Gameboy, but somehow it turned into a Bomberman game called Bomber King. Anyways beside RoboWarrior there is a Shoot em up game where you can unlock this robot as a character after finish the game one time. Also Hudson, damn I kinda miss Adventure Island's with Master Higgins
Hanferd Me too, the old ones were great. I played AI2 and Super AI pretty obsessively as a kid. Hell, even my mom loved AI2. I was shocked when i found her playing one day when I got home from school - She usually didn't touch anything but SimCity on the SNES. And I know Bomber King. The English name for it was Blaster Master boy, but it played just like Robo Warrior. Same music even. Any idea what shootet that might be, or at least the system? You've piqued my curiosity. Hudson shooters were usually incredible
I seen that you played Starship Hector as well. I only saw someone from those "World of Longplay" with the second run where you can play as this Robowarrior, the theme song is even similar. Check out Starship Hector on their list
I wonder why Jaleco bought a license from Hudson Soft to publish and distribute the game in North America under their Jaleco brand? Hudson Soft developed this, but the copyright just doesn't seem to fit.
Lo que no mucha gente sabe es que RoboWarrior tuvo una secuela, y se llama Blaster master Boy ¿que carajos? P.D: RoboWarrior tambien sale en Starship Hector.
Another game published in Japan by Hudson Soft, _Faxanadu_ (lit. "Famicom Xanadu"), was licensed from Falcom (the owner of the _Xanadu_ trademark for the RPG)... but here in North America it was licensed to Nintendo.
ClassicTVMan1981X Yeah, Hudson and Nintendo were quite close in the early NES days. Hudson even developed official versions of Nintendo's games for Japanese pcs. Have you seen Super Mario Special or Mario Punch Ball?
ClassicTVMan1981X Yeah, they also did ports of Excitebike, Golf and Ice Climber. Apparently they also did a weird alternate DK3, but I've never found a copy to try out
This looks and sounds like something that Capcom would have made rather than Jaleco. The music especially sounds like stuff that would be in an early Capcom release.
This was marketed as "Blaster Master Boy" on the Game Boy because you know, everything had to be all mixed up and confusingly titled in the 80's and 90's just because.
12:21 - dirty trick by Nintendo... Obviously a scam to get you to call the Nintendo hotline for $1.50 a minute or whatever it was. How are you supposed to know you're supposed to do that?
Cool to see more of the game besides the first level, I'd always get bored and quit when I realized I'd have to painstakingly bomb a line of a dozen trees multiple times just to proceed
Really dug this game as a kid, but I could do without the "chalice" item that showed up ever few levels. With how easy it is to get stuck and run out of bombs, last thing I need is to realize I just looped by taking the wrong path. I still love the music, though.
Just wondering why you used bombs to kill enemies when could’ve shot them. You have an unlimited amount of ammo but a certain amount of bombs. Also enemies leave bombs behind so why avoid them? Not being insulting, just wondering why. Hey, you made it farther than I ever did.
the only video game my mom ever played and she even completed it, afterward she put down the controller for good 'videogames take up too much of your life!'😅
Hmm.. How about think of the game this way. A World is growing more n more dangerous and some sentient species sends a single High-Class RoboWarrior to dispose of the problem. They know 1 is more than enough, and they only send these RoboWarriors to extremely dangerous misssions. The powers of the RoboWarrior are a sidearm and an ability to create bombs out of anything and just about can destroy everything if the original plan doesn't work out.
I love to hear the music of this game. Overworld theme-1 is very famous and everybody like it. and overworld theme-2(Period 2-2、4-2、6-3、8-2)is mysterious but I like it. By the way.I covered the music of overworld theme-2 (Period 2-2、4-2、6-3、8-2)
The placing of bombs in this game is way too counterintuitive. Oftentimes it just bags you into a corner and you die. Very unfair game, which is all the more surprising considering they literally did this formula right in BOMBERMAN.
My dad and I were obsessed with this game back in the day, and it was waaayyyy harder than it needed to be!
the sequel is on the game boy. robo warrior senario 2. we know that as blaster master boy or jr.
bomber king senario 2 jp
Holy shit this music haunts my childhood. Watching this makes me wanna play this again and actually beat it. The more I watch the more I remember
Man, that Music is awesome.
Heck yeah, Takeaki Kunimoto's one of my favourite video game composers! I even had a chance to meet him and have a beer with him

Brings back many memories, watching my dad play this when I was young
I still got this game and it works! So does my NES!
Nice and double nice your from my hometown
This was the game back in the day! I loved this game! ❤❤❤
Omg. This just took me back to my childhood. I never could get far but that music was awesome!
Definitely a classic I remember playing this with my dad growing up. He still talks about it.
Man, this is badass. I finished this game like 3 4 times when I was about 14 15. Took me like 2 hours each time
I got this game for Christmas 1987. I was 11 years old.
I love this game! Remember my childhood.
I wish I still had this game. It was super hard and I didn't know what to do. Now I do thanks!
I played this game in 1990 when I was 14 years old and now I have found happiness again after seeing it again! One of my all-time favorites. 😃💖
The music from this game and Xexyz haunted me from my younger days up till I re-discovered them on RUclips...

I had totally forgotten this game.
The shield makes you impervious to all forms of damage, which means run into people and just go nuts.

Best NES game ever made for me. Loved the gameplay, graphics and music. All is great. But very hard :D
I'm trying to make a remake of the game. Will be amazing to start remaking the music it's epic. Maybe pipeorgan and some guitar solo's
How long do you have once the game starts beeping before you would die because I notice your health goes down by itself even if you don't get hit.
After I reckon about 25 or so years, I finally see the ending.
This seems like a game of patience. Since the levels take forever to get through.
