  • Can your sweat protect you from Lyme disease? In this video, Alex Dainis explains how studies have shown that there is a specific protein, called SCBG1D2, found in sweat that might determine whether or not someone gets Lyme disease. In studies in mice, it was shown that one version of the SCBG1D2 protein inhibited growth of Borrelia burgdoferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease, while another version did not. Researchers are looking into how this protein could be used to prevent this debilitating disease, which can cause fatigue, fever, joint pain, rashes, and muscle weakness. In the meantime, don’t forget to perform a tick check after venturing outdoors!

Mosquitoes! Why do they love some people and ignore others and why does it sometimes change over the years? (Or is that just a myth?)

They don't tell you in school how important having a partner is. No child left behind, but high quality parents not on drugs is assumed by education standards.
Partners are so often needed. From building things to bug checks.

Do a tick check on every stop on your hike, they're easier to find before the crawl very far and you're more likely to find them before they bite.

That’s extremely messed up that in 2024 we’re still doing cruel experiments on animals.

What's the alternative here? The potential benefit here is _huge._ Lyme disease is horrible and never goes away
