Un clásico en Liszt: tener primeras versiones de sus obras maestras.🤣

Very interesting, thanks. But the revised version is much more to my liking.

Hmmm.. not really my cup of tea. Howard's interpretation is way better, but well, it's of course just my personal opinion. Technically brilliant, but eg. fff + energica accelerando at 7:38 just isn't happening. Either a technical limit or an interpretation I simply do not like. But thumbs up for playing this piece at all.. ^^

Interesting...........I actually like some parts of the dramatic middle section better than the version we all know but find the ending surprisingly weak and frankly unpianistic. It isn't as structurally taut as the other version but somehow it seems to fit the actual text of the poem better at least from that perspective. Definitely deserves study however I see why he revised it not so much to make it "easier" but mostly to strengthen the structure of the piece which in its revised form is almost perfection in its imperfection . I wish I could hear Howard's take on this version.

You can hear Howard's take via E Gokhan who shamelessly copied all of Howard's performances, adding reverb and changing the audio a bit so that they could pass it off as their own.
