- Today myself, Dan and Harry went to Edinburgh Airport to film the inaugural Wow Air service from Reykjavik to Edinburgh.
Sadly, however (and unbelievably ) the first service was cancelled due to the aircraft being delayed heavily.
Despite that, yesterday this United 767 diverted to Edinburgh whilst en route from Heathrow to Chicago due to a fuel-related problem.
The 767 was rescheduled to fly out of Edinburgh at 1315 today.
So we waited, and after it was delayed for an hour it finally departed heading for Chicago. I jokingly said how funny it would be if the same problem happened again. After it departed,we all packed up and set off.
Before leaving however Harry alerted us that the plane was returning (for the second time) and was squawking 7700.
Without further ado, I and Dan ran back to the spot just in time to fil it landing.
Upon landing, he was instructed to shut down his engines and was then towed back to his original stand.
All in all another hectic day for those pilots.
Thanks to Harry

watched this on flight radar today! well catched!!
Ah very good. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful landing
It was cheers.
I wonder why they have so many problems with the planes. I thought the 767 and the 747 were very reliable aircraft. I’ve flown on both types of aircraft many times. They have both been flying for decades. Maintenance issues? You were in the right place at the right time to shoot this. Great job!!
Alot of reasons why. They are reliable but they are always subject to issues. I was thanks.
Nice catch my friend, great vid :D
Thanks very much for watching it mate :)
Awesome catch mate! Liked :)
Thanks for watching it mate. Appreciate it :)
Best yet :-)
Cheers :)
Very interesting! United's old 767's cause many problems for them along with the 747's.
Thank'you. Thats true, still the next generation of 787s etc bring their own problems too.
This is largely due to United (before the merge) basically cheapens their maintenance cost to a minimum, the company I work for is a major maintenance supplier for pre-merge Continental, and start receiving pre-merge UA airframe since the merge, the quality of their aircraft between two company is night and day. With the UA aircraft one can clearly understand how did pre-merge UA managed to run their company to the ground.
Ah I see what you mean.
Butter
It was indeed.
Cool! Why did it have to make an emergency landing
Due to a fuel issue.
They're lucky they never went over the pacific
It is a long way if you need to divert
That's a really interesting catch, definitely not a fun time for the pilots or passengers! Hope you're able to get Wow Air soon.
It certainly was mate. Thankfully the passengers were put on other flights via Heathrow. On the second attempt from Edinburgh there were 11 crew. I hope so too. Cheers mate.
Great video mate! A great (but not quite as good replacement) for the WOW Air. Glad it worked out fine
Thanks very much. Well , possibly. Although the Wow Air will be in alot more than any United B763 haha.
ayyyy I was on the flight the day before. also flew ua929 to Chicago last Monday. I have a death wish
Ohh aye, very nice. More than likely haha
