    Patrick - can I just say, these 8min recaps are far more insightful and exciting than watching an hour of ITV4 TdF highlights. Straight to the point, discussing tactics and different options. I hope you earn enough money from this Tour to keep this going as I have only got back into TdF because of you and Benji over the past 3 years.

    Hey Lanterne !!! There is a funny storie with Pinot i don't know if you heard of it.
    On the Vuelta 2018 Tony Gallopin tryed to go for GC and was really close to the top 10 which was is goal on that race, but he finished 11th ( and Pinot 6th ), so tony was a bit sad of it and Pinot made fun of him with the joke '' good job you made top 11 '' and until then top 11 is a meme here in France, and everytime french riders get 11th on a race, we make fun of them like ' job done, we're in the top eleven 😎 '' or '' Yes ! Come on !! We made top 11 !!! 💪 '' so it's very funny that Pinot who started the joke finishes his last Tour with the 11th place on GC. 😂

      Pinot is *the* most outspoken anti doping rider currently in the peleton, probably helps that it's his last year so every one will give him a platform and he's using the most out of it. Reading how he feels about the abuse of 'medical exemptions' hopefully will bring others to talk about that aspect as well and maybe something will get done.
      Getting an exemption for a cortisol injection against an injury only shortly before a race / tour, when such an injection will have a couple of week long beneficial effect on your performance / recovery, is indeed *Cyclisme á deux vitesses*
      Him attacking to be in front and have a lasting memory to be proud off says all.

    Pog is the best cyclist in the world, I’ve decided. He’s got 2 tour wins already. After those, of course he was always going to explore the broader world of bike racing, have fun and gun for some classics, and have a philosophical approach to being second best to the JV machine. He’s the one rider that everyone else has to account for in any race. His excellence goes beyond the narrow focus of just winning the tour year after year. He just loves cycling and he’s a good sport too. I like him even more after this year and I’m curious to see where he goes next.

    After the race Vingegaard told the Danish TV that he didn't have the legs to attack earlier in the stage to drop Pogacar. In my opinion this shows that he's a human like us all, even in stage 17 he was dropped by Pello Bilbao in the last steep 500 metres, so Jonas too can get tired at the end of a 3 weeks race and there's no need to doubt about the use of doping.
    People who accuse him of doping simply don't know well the person behind the rider: Jonas is a quiet and kind family guy, an introvert who in the past suffered also from anxiety, and in general (go see how he was impressed by the news of a knife attack in Annecy, during the Criterium of Dauphinée) our man seems to be an empathetic and honest person, the last one you can expect cheating from.

      Completely agree! I do believe that Jonas was the stronger rider this year but not by that big of a margin. That was due to Pogi's infection or crash in form. To be fair, Bernhard Eisler - now a co-commentator on German eurosport - said from the beginning of the Tour that with Pogi being out of arcing due to his injury, he would either ride himself into superior form or completely crash in week three. Here's to a Tour 2024 where both are in top form!

      I disagree. There is no indication of Jonas cracking, neither historically nor currently.
      He is aware of his skills and weaknesses which are sprints and short, steep climbs. He is a very calculated cyclist and fully in control. It might have been a close race until the time trial and from my perspective he played with fire not having attacked Pogacar earlier, but they had a plan and executed it perfectly. The stage after the time trial was always their main focus.

    To everyone saying Jonas is boring.
    The plan was to attack for the stage win on the climb, but Jonas had a bad day and didn't have the legs for it - and yet he ended up 3rd. The man is a great rider, but he's also not superhuman. He's tired after 3 weeks.

      @@JRBendixen me trolling? What kind of level in being a moron are you? It's not about any points tomorrow, it's about being on the podium tomorrow and win the jersey. I think Pidcock needs to do some serious self reflection after this race and decide exactly what he wants to be. It’s pretty clear he isn’t capable of sustaining MTB, cross, classics and grand tours in a season, he is clearly not the calibre of WVA. Riders like Kuss (up until his crash) were burying themselves daily and still sat higher in the GC despite burning more matches.

    • @julen2380
      @julen2380 Год назад

      Agree with the need for some serious self reflection. Though I'm not sure if it's a question of calibre or that mtb is just that one thing too many. MVP also does not really manage to juggle it all, really. Look at this year's Tour.
