After those, of course he was always going to explore the broader world of bike racing, have fun and gun for some classics, and have a philosophical approach to being second best to the JV machine. He’s the one rider that everyone else has to account for in any race. His excellence goes beyond the narrow focus of just winning the tour year after year. I think it shows how much Jonas Vingegaard respects Tadej Pogačar. He also knew that Adam Yates would be coming to help out Pogi. So perhaps he was also being cautious to not take anything for granted and to keep his GC winner's mindset.
Some many things going on at the end of todays stage - great race. Good to see some gendarmes taking action on the crowded sections. Good to see Pogacar happy again, well done. 💛Hurra for Jonas Vingegaard🇩🇰
After the race Vingegaard told the Danish TV that he didn't have the legs to attack earlier in the stage to drop Pogacar. People who accuse him of doping simply don't know well the person behind the rider: Jonas is a quiet and kind family guy, an introvert who in the past suffered also from anxiety, and in general (go see how he was impressed by the news of a knife attack in Annecy, during the Criterium of Dauphinée) our man seems to be an empathetic and honest person, the last one you can expect cheating from.

Completely agree! I do believe that Jonas was the stronger rider this year but not by that big of a margin. That was due to Pogi's infection or crash in form. To be fair, Bernhard Eisler - now a co-commentator on German eurosport - said from the beginning of the Tour that with Pogi being out of arcing due to his injury, he would either ride himself into superior form or completely crash in week three. Here's to a Tour 2024 where both are in top form!
I disagree. There is no indication of Jonas cracking, neither historically nor currently. He is aware of his skills and weaknesses which are sprints and short, steep climbs. He is a very calculated cyclist and fully in control. It might have been a close race until the time trial and from my perspective he played with fire not having attacked Pogacar earlier, but they had a plan and executed it perfectly. Nothing Vingegaard could do. He can't beat Pogačar in a sprint, and Pogačar wanted Yates to come up. Think the whole plan Jumbo Visma had for the day crashed with Kuss' crash :-(
I think Pidcock needs to do some serious self reflection after this race and decide exactly what he wants to be. It’s pretty clear he isn’t capable of sustaining MTB, cross, classics and grand tours in a season, he is clearly not the calibre of WVA. Riders like Kuss (up until his crash) were burying themselves daily and still sat higher in the GC despite burning more matches.
Agree with the need for some serious self reflection. Though I'm not sure if it's a question of calibre or that mtb is just that one thing too many. MVP also does not really manage to juggle it all, really. Look at this year's Tour.

That is also crazy. Gall got nothing. No stage victory and no Polka dot. But they did defend their 8th place vs number 9. Well done I guess!
Are you trolling. The polka is about climbing mountains. There are no mountains in Paris tomorrow, thus no polka points to gain :)
@@JRBendixen me trolling? What kind of level in being a moron are you? It's not about any points tomorrow, it's about being on the podium tomorrow and win the jersey. Something Gall could've easily done if his team had some brains. Reading your comment on the other hand makes sense then that a lot of people seem to be braindead.
@@JRBendixenYou are the one trolling mate. By riding in Paris with the polka dot jersey he means winning the polka jersey today and coming into Paris with it tomorrow. Also there actually is 1 point for the polka jersey classification on the stage tomorrow as well. So you are literally wrong about everything you said, congrats.
Great coverage/recap 👍
Thanks for the memories.
Viva La Tour.
One really has to like this guy - Tadej !
@arnonyssimo4690: No, only you cult members do
What a fantastic last (real) stage for this TdF, this Pinot thing was epic. 😍
I love Thibaut Pinot. For you non-French cycling fans who might not comprehend who Thibaut is for us and what he means to us, well the "Pinot turn" crowd is the perfect answer
Rodriguez was unbelievable given the crash, Hindley could only sit in his wheel most of the way and made no moves at all.
Soler scary eyes, that was a legit lol
Isn't it totally crazy how the motorbike passes them at 03:35?
Yes looks like that rider needs to be fired, that was actually insane.
Yeah like a lot of time 😂 they wanted Pinot win
I hate motos
Looks totally normal to me. They always do that.
They'll definitely be honking to let them know. They need to get past at some point.
You can see why tdf is the most watched event in the world, must have been 350k fans on the roads
We love you Tadej!
😂Soler’s eyes haunting Tadej forever.
An amazing TDF 2023 best one
How is it even possible for a wheel to break while riding? I thought they were tested against a lot more force/pression/shock than under normal usage.
Maybe the wheel was in a crash before and had internal damage that isn't visible
Flexing carbon fibre can get micro-cracks and then suddenly break
Shit happens. We can try to prepare for it all and yet somebody can mess up. It’s the human way and perfect perfection is a rare thing indeed :)
Carbon fiber.
You never know with carbon fiber.
Vingegaard didn’t have a good day, guy is empty now 🤷♂️ still came in third…
