  • Hi!
    You guys know i love to try new things on my hair. GHD recently released this new flat iron called the Platinum Plus and I wanted to give it a try. Typically i use a much cheaper flat iron (around $20-$30) that gets the job done. I've been seeing this flat iron lately and wanted to know if a more expensive tool was worth the money. Especially for those of us with textured hair. If you are new here I am transitioning to natural so this flat iron needs to blend my two textures into one to get my seal of approval.
    The very first thing i noticed was this flat iron does not have a way to control the heat. For $259 i would think i could determine whether I wanted it at the very least on high or low. But there is nothing here, so If you are a stickler for that this isnt the flat iron for you. I looked it up on their website and the tool heats up to 365 degrees. So its not scorching but not very low either.
    It does also come with a heat resistant bag for you to store the flat iron in as well. What I loved about this flat iron was how smooth the plates were. Since I'm transitioning, my hair is a bit brittle in some places and hard to manage. But I never once heard any crunching noises associated with that. This flat iron glided over my hair so easily and created one seamless texture!

    Me and my sisters love ghd. We have bought the different types of ghds and the oldest one we have is about 10 plus years old and still works really well. Ghd is just such great value for money. It really is one of those products you can just buy once and never worry about ever needing to purchase another.

    A year later and your video just made me feel 1000000x better. I ordered this iron without looking at reviews on African American hair. Thank you for this video!!!

    Love how it looks on you!! I have 3C curly hair and have that flat iron, it’s amazing! It heats at 365 degrees, and it has a technology to make sure it stays at 365

      365 degrees is the optimum temperature for healthy hair and so it doesn’t burn your hair off. If you don’t want to ruin your curl pattern then use a good heat protectant. If you don’t no matter what temperature it will ruin your curls and damage your hair. Always use a heat protectant

    It’s pretty worth it when you figure what it costs to get that look. How often can you use it without damage? Does your hair stay that way til it gets wet? Also does it wreck your hair for other more natural styles? Your hair looks lovely.

    not being able to control the heat setting is the whole point of GHD products.. they have their technology set to maintain a "healthy" heat setting to where.. the idea is that the user *can't* turn it up and fry her hair even if she wanted to

    Just need to take your time on the roots! I think it's a great iron.

    I think what you pay for with this flat iron is the certainty that after the process there is no heat damage. Sometimes I get tired of my tightly coiled hair and just want straight hair. This flat iron would give me good results without compromising the health of my hair.

    I am debating between the white & the black GHD Platinum+, people have commented that the white one looks dirty easily, do you notice yours looking dirty?

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  3 года назад +1

      No mine still looks pretty good. Granted I don’t use it daily or even weekly so black might be your best bet if you plan on using it often!

    How is it holding up a year later? Do the plates still glide smooth or are do they tug now? I just ordered one the other day and still waiting on it to come. 😬

    Helloooo, is that regulating the temperature itself depending on your hair type + hair states? & when you went out did you hair went frizzy?

    • @NiaraAlexis
      @NiaraAlexis  3 года назад +4

      It’s a straightener so regardless it cant stop the humidity from getting to your hair 😂 I wish it did tho! It heats up to about 365 no matter what hair type you have. Hope this helps! ❤️
