  • BLOODRUN SKEENA HOOK, what I consider to be the best hook for STEELHEAD BEAD FISHING. Boodrun recently changed thier sizing, so I explain the new sizing. I demo the knot I use for tying leaders, the Egg-Loop, and I show I store leaders for ease of use on the river.

    Bro im blood run 100%. If you get into rod building check out their blanks. I have two custom 11 ft 6 rods for center pinning but would be great for spinning as well. And don't leave out their floating mono I haven't lost a float yet. Maybe one day I'll see you on the river and you can get a feel for their blanks. Also check out Danny Colville, and TAAR fishing. They all kick it together. Greg from blood run is a top-notch tell him Duke sent you. I love your channel bro.!

    Nice hook. Holds fish well. Not heavy. Unfortunately, I've broke too many. On fish and removing the hook. (too easy). Tail Out is a nice hook.

      I’ve never had a Skeena break on a fish, a few times when snagged. I did buy some tailouts and tried them out on my last trip. They seemed to work fine, I caught one steelhead using them, but I need to do some more testing before I would recommend them. I still feel they are too heavy.
      Thanks for sharing your experience! 👍🏻🎣

      Tail out definitely thicker. Good sac hook. size 10 for bead not bad. Maybe I had a bad batch of Skeena. But definitely broke a bunch. Shame, I do like the hook.@@RAGEFISHING

      @@morefish8881 I’ll try some of the smaller tailouts, 4 is the smallest I have.

      @@morefish8881 I covered this point in this video, the sizing has changed, I verified with Bloodrun. They are more consistent with other hook manufacturers now. They used to be about one size off.

    I tried the skeena hooks a couple of years ago, and they seemed smaller to me. So I kinda went away from them hooks. Now you got me interested in them again, and they fixed the sizing. I was curious, what's the difference between the tailout hooks and skeena hook

    • @RAGEFISHING
      @RAGEFISHING  6 месяцев назад

      If you look close, I bought a couple 25 packs of the Tailout hooks. (On my table in the greenish yellow tint) they are heavier wire, therefore would be heavier than the skeena. I think having a light hook like the skeena is important so that it doesn’t affect the drift of the bead. The lighter the hook the better. A heavier hook could change the natural drift of the bead. But it’s just a theory that lives in my head. 😁

      I started using them per your recommendation a few years ago and won’t use anything else. High rate of hook ups and landings.

      @davidbenner7093 thanks for the update, that’s awesome! When I first started bead fishing I was using octopus hooks and mosquitos. I used to lose about 40% of my fish due them coming unpinned. Once I switched to Skeenas, I rarely lose one with the exception of my line breaking.

    How long to you keep tied leaders before you replace?

    • @RAGEFISHING
      @RAGEFISHING  6 месяцев назад +2

      My bead rigs never get old 😁, but I would say I wouldn’t use a pre-tied leader for more than 3 years or so.

      @@RAGEFISHING Also thank for the egg loop knot demo. The reason I change leaders, is that I get better at tying knots over the years and replacing snell knots. I’ve changed my standard leader to 12lb STS (easier to tie egg loop knot) and a 15lb P-line bumper… Hopeful 🤞 the leader will be the line to break off.

    where do you buy the blood runs ?

    • @RAGEFISHING
      @RAGEFISHING  6 месяцев назад +1

      I buy them directly from Bloodrun, I believe it’s Bloodrunfishing.com. When I looked up their website today, it had a 15% off deal for a first time buyer. They often send emails with discounts, like I got a free shipping with $50 order today. I’m in no way sponsored by them, I started using their stuff 4-5 years ago and have been happy with the quality and pricing. Every bead caught fish on my channel since 2020 has been with their product. I’ve got a lot of free time; if you want to stop by and check them out let me know. 😁
