Honestly, if you sell your games now, you're probably better off. Saturn games have a tendency to rot faster than other disc based games (PS1, PS2, etc) because the foil degrades faster due to their pressing method, and the data layer becomes corrupt faster as a result. Saturn lasers are becoming harder to replace, too. Many of the games work, but many of them don't. These days, with the market the way it is, it's much more sensible to sell off a collection while the market is extremely high and move toward ODEs. I like Saturn games for collecting purposes, but for playing? Too risky.

Greetings from Vancouver, Washington. Great video!!! I absolutely love the Saturn and it is my favorite system. I got it when it was released and have kept everything in pristine condition since. I remember playing Astal when it came out and was amazed by the graphics. I also think the original Saturn controller is the most comfortable ever. I am jealous of your collection.

Thanks to the vid you did with Anna a while back, I got my hands on a Saturn and an Action Replay cart about a year ago and now I've got about 50 games, all Japanese but one. I was surprised how cheap and easy to come by Japanese Saturn games really are. I've browsed and grabbed stuff I haven't even heard of because they were being sold at generous prices.
Not a collector, but there are two games I think you should take a look. The first a dungeon crawler called Shining the Holy Ark. I really like art, atmosphere and combat and if you have a lot of time to explore the game's massive dungeons you'll have a really good time. The second one is Guardian Heroes, which is a beat'em up with special moves similar to Street Fighter. Both are pretty expensive, but I feel are among the best games for the system.
This brings me back. In college, a buddy of mine let me borrow his Saturn and he had a ton of import games. That was a good summer. There was quite a few train simulators but a ton of rpgs.
I read about Petrucci making music for that game a long ago in an interview, but totally forgot about that. How cool to catch it now in this video!!! ':- )
“The Binder!” 😂 so glad to see you like the games I sent. After I sent the binders my mother found a bunch of the cases and manuals but unfortunately they ended up getting destroyed in a leaky shed. Hey MJR! I loved the video! You certainly have a better Sega Saturn game collection than I do! But that's ok! I currently own 19 Saturn games in my collection (combination of US and Japan imports). Here's some games I'm gonna recommend you get: Daytona USA (with how much you love racing games, this is a must have!), Sega Rally Championship, Deep Fear (if you love Resident Evil, this is a must have!), Virtua Fighter 1 or 2, X-Men Children of the Atom (fantastic X-Men fighting game by Capcom), R?MJ The Mystery Hospital (a bizarre Japan import horror game taking place in a hospital), Area 51, Break Point Tennis, and NBA Jam Tournament Edition.
I loved SCUD (the comic)! He was an assassin droid that you would buy from a vending machine (for a hit). And once the droid completes the hit, they self-destruct. Well, Scud became aware of this and instead of finishing his job (which would lead to his doom), he kept his target alive, and paid for that by taking on more jobs. Really fun and interesting comic.
I love my Saturn Collection; some of my all time favorite console games. I can't believe how much these games go for today even though I don't really care about the monetary value. Shining Force III, Dragon Force and Panzer Dragoon Saga are my personal favorites. The artwork and the packaging alone make collecting for the Saturn all the more fulfilling. They just don't package games like this anymore. I especially like all of the Working Design games; just so beautiful. Great video!
I envy you for having these rare and expensive games in your collection. I rarely ever get to add rare games to my collection, knowing how much money I get. I was stationed in Japan in 01 to 04. Managed to snag some of these sega saturn import games for 100 yen to 980 yen. It was a magical time to be a import game collector for sure.
Cyber Speedway was my absolute favorite Saturn game. Got hours of fun playing against my friends. I still have some of the songs from the soundtrack on my MP3 player.
Great video as always! I was lucky to find Astal CIB for two or three bucks at a thrift store. Same for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - I got that for $2.00. Some of my best finds ever! I absolutely LOVE the Saturn!
The 20 year mark is when both nostalgia from those who originally owned something and curiosity from those who didn't kicks in, so when you have something good like the Saturn that didn't sell well and consequently has a limited number of games in circulation, it's a recipe for prices going up. We're starting to see the same with the Dreamcast now. I collected for the Saturn for a little while but kind of gave up; I now only have a few really rare games. My last pickup was Radiant Silvergun, which I'd just wanted for years, and finally paid about $150 for on my last trip to Japan. That was probably 3 years ago now.
I don't have many Saturn games but I do have Astal and that is one beautiful game. His attack mechanics and how the screen scrolls in and out is something unique and never seen in another game. That's an IP that should be revived.
Good you have Albert Odyssey but there are still a few holes in your collection: Blazing Dragons, Blazing Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Bulk Slash, Croc, Daytona, Deep Fear, Keio Flying Squandron 2, Linkle Liver Story, Lupin III: Pyramid no Kenja, Ninpen Manmaru, Princess Crown, Ninja Jajamaru-kun: Onigiri Ninpouchou Gold, Magical Drop III, Shining the Holy Ark, Söldnerschild, Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels, SteamGear Mash, Sword & Sorcery, Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasokyoku, and Tengai Makyou.
Love the Saturn as it's one of my three favorite consoles, alongside the SNES and Dreamcast. That being said here are my favorite Saturn games. Battle Arena Toshinden Remix, D, Daytona USA, Dynamite Deka, Dragon Ball Z: Shin Butoden, Fire Pro Wrestling S: 6 Men Scramble, The King of Fighters '96, Marvel Super Heroes, Saturn Bomberman, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Virtua Cop 1 & 2, Virtua Fighter 2, and X-Men: Children of The Atom.
I just bought an English language reproduction off of Instagram ($40), and I FINALLY finished playing through the saga a couple days ago. Took me 2 months, 175 hours. LOVED IT. Such an epic experience. We were really missing out by just getting scenario 1 in America. I, too, hope Sega will one day do an official translation and release on switch or something. Square did it for final Fantasy 5 on the ps1 and seiken densetsu 3 on the collection of mana for switch.
Part of the reason you probably don’t play your racing games is that you are missing the best ones. If you had Sega Rally, Manx TT, Sonic R, Daytona USA CCE, etc. you would probably play your racing games.
would love to see more of a deep dive on some Saturn games. I was a Sega kid growing up and when it came time for the Saturn I was so close to getting it..until I saw the playstation! Never had a Saturn and missed a lot of good games I'm sure.

I started requesting game disc packed safer in a slip or separate cd case .... just incase the seller was loco enough to send bareback 🤪
Road and Track Need for Speed is one of my favorite old school games. I play it on the 3do. For the time it was amazing and I visit that game every now and then. Still lots of fun
I actually bought my copy of Magic Knight Rayearth in Seattle when I was there in '99. The Sega Saturn is definitely one of my favorite consoles, a lot of the great shooters on it is probably to blame for that. You should really try/get Thunder Force V if you have not already.
I love my Saturn and I still have the original box and inserts. Some of my favourite games are Dodonpachi, radiant silvergun, quake, daytona and of course panzer dragoon saga :D
There's a game called "The Legend of Oasis", it's a great ARPG for the SS. BTW it's the sequel to "Beyond Oasis" on Genesis (and both games has soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro :)
My friend just grabbed up a Saturn and I’m so jealous. Then you put THIS video out to make me even more jealous lol. I can’t believe how many games you have for it. Great video!
So many of those games I used to have....I still have my original Saturn, playable since early 1997. But early on I had the console switched, so I could play multi-disc Japanese games. I still have maybe around 40 titles in my collection. If you don't have it, I'd easily recommend Guardian Heroes. A side-scrolling beat 'em up by Treasure, it's a fantasy motif game with branching paths and multiple endings. You can fight on three planes, and you use a party of heroes to fight your way through hordes of enemies. Lots of humor, too. I had mine for close to 20 years before I decided to buy the Xbox 360 port, which is just as fun. But if one has a decent Saturn collection, they can't go wrong with Guardian Heroes!
My only complaint about this video is how short it is, I wouldn't mind if this was a couple hours long while you go through and play each game.
For this many titles, especially ones I never knew existed, I too would enjoy a deeper dive of these games!
Agreed. In detail, every game, more than welcome!

Cyber Speedway was my absolute favorite Saturn game. Got hours of fun playing against my friends. I still have some of the songs from the soundtrack on my MP3 player.
My brother loved the Skud comics and he was so surprised it was released as a video game for the Sega Saturn
Insane collection MJR
Thanks for the Heir of Zendor recommendation. I'm enjoying it.
No Sega Rally?
You know what you have to do !
C'mon, Solar Eclipse is NOT a FMV shooter, the environments are rendered in real time, they just look nicer than you'd expect on the system.
Good you have Albert Odyssey but there are still a few holes in your collection: Blazing Dragons, Blazing Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Bulk Slash, Croc, Daytona, Deep Fear, Keio Flying Squandron 2, Linkle Liver Story, Lupin III: Pyramid no Kenja, Ninpen Manmaru, Princess Crown, Ninja Jajamaru-kun: Onigiri Ninpouchou Gold, Magical Drop III, Shining the Holy Ark, Söldnerschild, Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels, SteamGear Mash, Sword & Sorcery, Akumajou Dracula X: Gekka no Yasokyoku, and Tengai Makyou.
I always enjoy your videos. Panzer Dragon really caught my attention.
Still hope to this day that they will release a Shining Force III complete edition.
My favorite game of all time. My biggest video game dream is for it to be on modern platforms.
@@CRedd9830 That would be amazing!
FYI, GameStop in Poulsbo.W.A. is closing. Everything must go. Although it looked like the good stuff might already been snagged.
Ah the notoriously hard to develop for Sega Saturn :)
Had some pretty cool games and you certainly have a nice collection! Great video!

"Sakura Wars" Sakura Taisen Series!
This is my favorite series in Saturn software
I played 1 and 2 for quite some time at that time
How Nostalgic...
Would really recommend powerslave(exhumed) on the saturn. Really great game
Wow awesome collection man. I remember I used to have Sonic R and Sonic Jam on the Saturn

Take care and thanks for the video.
The fact that you're putting those panzer dragoon saga discs into a generic CD binder is so bad for the love of god.
I was also equally disappointed that the CD binder wasn't a cool, hip brand name. I could watch this for hours if it had a better CD binder tbh.
This guy isn't a gamer, he's a collector. He hoards more games than he beats.
@@123doomdoom that’s even more reason for him to have these in separate jewel cases rather than a shitty cd binder which will put wear and tear on your discs overtime
@@soulintake He didn't say awesome enough in this video ether. Very disappointed.
Still safer in the binder than the OG case.
Pal saturn cases are especially the worst.
Almost cry in pain everytime an ebay seller has posted me pal saturn titles in the original case and the disc has been bouncing around the entire journey.
I started requesting game disc packed safer in a slip or separate cd case ....
just incase the seller was loco enough to send bareback 🤪
Guardian Heroes and Radiant Silvergun are must haves
i remember when i got the Saturn for Christmas when it first launched! loved the virtual fighter games and i had star fighter.
Ah the Sega Saturn. One I've only come in contact with at stores a couple times and one of the few consoles I've never even played. Very cool
Thanks for sharing your collection. Pretty nice titles.
Road and Track Need for Speed is one of my favorite old school games. I play it on the 3do. For the time it was amazing and I visit that game every now and then. Still lots of fun
Just bought a Saturn a couple days ago. Can't wait!
I actually bought my copy of Magic Knight Rayearth in Seattle when I was there in '99. The Sega Saturn is definitely one of my favorite consoles, a lot of the great shooters on it is probably to blame for that. You should really try/get Thunder Force V if you have not already.
Three Dirty Dwarves is one of my favorite saturn games. Exhumed is also a great game!
Snatcher, Sakura Wars and Magic Knight Rayearth all in one video. Never thought I'd see so many of my obscure favorites together.
Heard of the first two but haven't played
I love my Saturn and I still have the original box and inserts. Some of my favourite games are Dodonpachi, radiant silvergun, quake, daytona and of course panzer dragoon saga :D
yaaaaaaaaaaaay something to watch for 14 minutes!!! I wish it was longer!!!!! :)
Ah yes, we finally get a new video on the greatest system of all time (in my opinion 😜), the mighty Sega Saturn! Good stuff!
There's a game called "The Legend of Oasis", it's a great ARPG for the SS. BTW it's the sequel to "Beyond Oasis" on Genesis (and both games has soundtrack composed by Yuzo Koshiro :)
Astal is one of my all time favorite games. I still have my original copy from when I was a kid.
Bulk Slash is one of the best titles. Port of Liquid Kids is amazing as well.
This console gives me the warm and fuzzies, finally got one few days ago
Oh my goodness, sooo many SEGA Saturn titles - what an epic collection!! :)
Wow kickass was not expecting a Saturn video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
My friend just grabbed up a Saturn and I’m so jealous. Then you put THIS video out to make me even more jealous lol. I can’t believe how many games you have for it. Great video!
Thanks! It's a fun system to collect for.
This guy has to be my new neighbor. Greetings from Uruguay.
