I do not recall the exact model number but it is a Cobra with optional GPS tracking that has red light camera / speed trap areas built in with warnings as you approach.
To Justin you don't need to go back to your tuner to get your tuned uploaded. You can simply copy your content from your ap using accessport manager on your PC or Mac. Easy simple.
CougarSMC you should check out the phone app Torque you can set up your smart phone with all kinds of gauges, 7 different screens, plus a whole lot more. I am going to get one of these tuners, more for the pre programmed maps to get some extra power.
I have heard that you will need to go back to your tuner and have it loaded onto the new V3.....keep in mind that is what I overheard while at the Big Northwest Meet. It is 2nd hand knowledge so I would recommend holding off on a V3 install until COBB returns your email. They are typically fast in their responses. However, if there seems to be a delay...call one of their shops and ask.
I can make a video of how to set it and use it but actually launching will have to be on someone else's video.....I don't launch mine due to how rough it is on all your parts......I'm a worry wort :-)
Cobb will help you update the license on the v3 so it will accept your custom maps that have been tied to your v2. Remember to do this before you uninstall the v2, otherwise you will not be able to use that map when installing the v3.
It appears to me to be more accurate as it reads the data faster with the new cable. The whole unit seems to communicate so much faster than the older V2. Not sure what details are as far as the internal upgrades but I know the cable is an updated higher speed cable
What mount are you using CougarSMC ? I bought a vent mount and find that the V3 tends to bounce around a bit. Currently using a universal windshield mount for phones that hold it quite well, but not inconspicuous.
This is the mount that comes with the new V3 AP. I used to have a vent mount when I ran my V2 and I did get a little bounce but I guess it's all in what brand it is.
i used to be Open source on all of my Subaru builds, but since im getting in bed with a new tune shop, and installing the block myself they told me to order an accessport and they would send me a break in map, if i were to use the accessport can i leave it on all times while im driving??? or does the battery start to die.
The car battery doesn't power the Accessport while the car is on, that's your alternator. Anyway, there's very little power drain anyway. The only time it could drain your battery is if the car is in storage or not being actively driven for a *long* time.
I just got an sti 2011, for the stage 1 tune do i need a professional ? Or can i literally just plug it in myself with 0 mods on the car and just install the tune?
Nice vid... got a question for you.... I don't know if you can help me with it but here it is... Im not the type of, to be making a lot of changes to my car... I just want to install the SF COBB INTAKE. If I do so, do I really need to get the Accessport? In other words, I just want to hear the "woshhh" that's it...
+1 for the response from Modfydsubi STI....dont do intake on a WRX/STI without getting a tune....your air / fuel mixture will be off and that will be dangerous.
The AP itself is 100% worth it, if you are asking if the upgrade from V2 to V3 is worth it then.....I guess that is subjective due to the fact some use them more often than others. Some tune then dont touch the AP some tune and leave the AP hooked up as gauges. So it comes down to a question for you in regards to how much you will use it.
As far as reliable engine management systems that reconfigure base maps, this one is the best. The next best thing I know of would be an old system from Apexi (If they're still called that), but the install requires you to physically rewire the ECU or use a special harness. It's still more expensive than this and I doubt it has as many features. Greddy's E-manage is really good (you just slice it into the existing ECU wires and it uses most of you stock sensors), but it's pretty steep as well. Last I saw that was $800 (then more for the tune). And the full-on Engine management systems are at least twice as expensive as the AP.
Is there much difference from stock to a cobb ap v3 in power? I've got a 2010 Mazda 3 Mps/Speed3 with just a bov and I'm pretty keen on a Cobb Ap V3 just wondering if there's a big difference in gains? Thanks
You would have to check their website to see what gains you will get since I dont have that information in my own brain. They do post that information in the maps section. However, I can say that for my STI there was a noticeable difference between stock and using a COBB Stage 1 Map.
Is the Boost display accurate? Because I know with V2 it was slow, and didn't accurately depict Boost. So I'm trying to wrap my head around forking over 325.00 if it's just going to be " bigger screen/multiple parameters."
Im curious, are all the maps all updated? What I mean is, can you feel and power/smoothness difference in the maps? I've never once updated the maps with my V2
Yes she is....she loves my car but doesn't like to drive it as she doesn't want anything to happen when she is driving...she loves my RoadRunner and all classis MOPAR
YES SOLD ON THE PRODUCT 100%.....I loved my V2 but this V3 makes EVERYTHING so much easier. Highly recommended if you can spare the $....It was hard for me but when the wife told me to do it....that took one hardship out of the equation LOL
sent an email into cobb, dont know how long it'll take for them to get back to me, but you might know! if i have a stage 2 tune from a tuner, like i went in and had it dyno'd and everything and they put their own tune on, if i install a v3, will it erase that tune and make me pick one that's already stored on the accessport? i'm not looking to remap anything, i'd like to really just be able to switch between economy and go-fast, and monitor more of the car's habits through the gauges on it
U should make a how to use video ^^ i know what it does but nobody really show how to use it and what do u need in ur car in term of mods to actually feel a performance difference.
I Love the new v3 look and features. The price is just insane though. Even with trade in, that's hella expensive!! Do they offer free maps with it too or do you need to purchase a custom map too? For example, stage 2 w/intake ACN.
23rromero 2008+ wrx/sti mass air flow sensors hate any aftermarket intakes. The car will actually run worse with any intake due to fuel corrections way off. Run an Accessport or tune the car; or don't get an intake.
I will see what I can do to get a close up video of different amount of gauges....hope it will be up soon but work will decide how fast the video will arrive

Great review, man. About to pull the trigger and get an APV3 for my Speed3.

i was at BigNW as well! I should have just purchased it there for $500...now the lowest I can find is 600 on NASIOC.
Perrin....I won that shift knobb at the first Big Northwest Meet during the Raffle
LAUNCH CONTROL VIDEO! :D
Setting the rpms and then a few launches bro!
I can make a video of how to set it and use it but actually launching will have to be on someone else's video.....I don't launch mine due to how rough it is on all your parts......I'm a worry wort :-)

Im not sure if we're talking about the same lights but my 5 or 6 bubble lights are shift lights
Thanks for the video... good info. As a side note, what radar/laser detector did you have in the window and do you like it?
Damn. Thats thing looks nice. Im going to look into the trade in program they have. My v2 looks wack compared to the v3.
What kind of WHP increase could I expect on a stock car with a stage 1 re-mapping.
Check out this link from COBB cobb.app.box.com/SUBA-US-STI-08-14-Intake

Nice review! Mine will be going in the same spot. My V2 was actually in the air vents on my Evo X and I hated blocking the vent too.
By installing the cobb access port, how much horspower do you gain?
Do you have only the accesport or something more? I want to install 1 on my 2014 sit but I don't want to put anything else beside de accesport...
You can do just the AP without any other mods
What mount are you using CougarSMC ? I bought a vent mount and find that the V3 tends to bounce around a bit. Currently using a universal windshield mount for phones that hold it quite well, but not inconspicuous.

CougarSMC Ahh, okay. You just used the 3M tape mount.

It will not kill your battery
The car battery doesn't power the Accessport while the car is on, that's your alternator. Anyway, there's very little power drain anyway. The only time it could drain your battery is if the car is in storage or not being actively driven for a *long* time.

Adam Wells the second part. It's all you with one of these. Just plug her in, select the map and go

So I think that is a YES for an AP right?
& thank you for your time, I really appreciate it...
is it worth the money ?

I have an evo, just got it and I want to get a tune. If I purchase this, how hard is it to get it to put a stage 1 map on my ecu?
Super easy.....just download the OTS Map from COBB's website and then hook the AP to your OBDII port and flash your ECU

Ton of "that's what she said" puns in there!! Hehehehehehe...seriously..great review

Nice vid~ but you kept saying ODB-II~ haha
Good purchase!
I noticed that as it was in Adobe getting edited LOL youre the first one to say anything LOL...good spot.....you get the gold star for the day :-)
Your request is up

There are free maps on their website...they have maps for certain intakes. Check their site. All maps that are "off the shelf" are on their site.
sweet video man, I was looking everywhere for one! so you're absolutely sold on it?
23rromero 2008+ wrx/sti mass air flow sensors hate any aftermarket intakes. The car will actually run worse with any intake due to fuel corrections way off. Run an Accessport or tune the car; or don't get an intake.

"Or something for my dog maybe!" Lmao hahaha
Makes me wanna get one :)
The Requested Vid is now up!
wife*
Disregard the new video....upload got messed up and isn't working as intended
You drive an automatic what a waste of money that tuner was.
Who has an automatic???? Me???? Hope that was for another comment :) all STIs are 6spd Manual
CougarSMC in the asian region we got autos and its called the A-line... it is sluggish and slow 2 seconds slower to 60mph from the manual
Kevin Morgan OH....yeah no thanks
CougarSMC i actually tested both and i bought the manual one hehehe as it is way sharper
I got one !!! :)
Well she doesn't get to ride in it....but wants to real bad....so I'll just let her sport a COBB sticker on her harness that has a GoPro attached :-)
