What a gem. An industrious three year old child hard at play, play is serious business. Stomping in the puddles and looking at the over flowing creek and wark wark wark hear the ducks.

I think all those "maestros" complaining in the comments about the "speed", which is actually called tempo, should go back to their posh dinner parties and stiff all-knowing conversations with their mediocre middle class-upper class aspirant friends, and leave us to just enjoy a DIFFERENT kind of interpretation, instead of thinking they know best than two of the greatest performers of all time only because they can spell Wolfgang Amadeus (even though they probably don't even know that wasn't Mozart's real name).

It is NOT a song, it's a SONATA for 2 pianos!

It would be a problem if too fast and badly done accordingly.... some people can do it nice and fast

I find the tempo too fast by 10 bpm or so.

MA played it like rach 3. Seems like somebody misunderstood Mozart. Pianos weren't even together.

This is terrible. Mozart would be rolling in his grave at this interpretation. Too fast & out of time, this is not a 20th century work!!!

+Johny Ringo Exactly my thoughts. If no one had told me it's Barenboim and Argerich I would have thought it is a couple of eighth graders...

+Amit Ben hur Yes, I 100% agree. Exactly. I find it absolutely preposterous for anyone to play it this way, it is not even fit for a rehearsal or sight reading, it just goes against everything we know about Mozart musically. Although this piece is allows for much freedom & almost limitless in imagination etc, Mozart commands total perfection from the virtuoso musician & rarely allows for anything other than intended, the simplest of melodies are extremely complex & every single individual note written by the maestros hand serves a purpose & should be examined thoroughly. I am sorry but whether deliberate, ignorant or just down right incompetent this recording can be terribly damaging not just to the listener, but to Mozart's repertoire.

Andante wasn't bad. it is such a beautiful flow of notes that i forget the speed. you can just get lost in the movement

MA is certainly unique... but she plays well she plays extremely well and almost owns it.... then there is the other stuff that she plays like she wanted to get finished quickly in order to get to an after concert dinner :)

I recently heard her tear through the Prokoviev C major it was astounding... then she came out and for an encore she played the 1st and last pieces of Schumann's Scenes from Childhood It was inspired playing... so beautiful, so simple... I cried .

Couldn't be more in agreement, most of her playing is excessively rapid, she made a career by bowling over people with her technique (and she's not the only one) but interpretation is something altogether different.

Terrible. Too fast, no style, strange interpretive choices.
Argerich is overrated. Barenboim just isn't good at Mozart.
Check out Larrocha/Previn recording - THAT is how this piece should played.

They are old and it's obvious. They have nothing to prove which is OK but perhaps some other venue had been more appropriate.
