    Hi Theresa 🤗
    I love the Peppermint Pocket Skirt! I’ve made three, they are such a quick sew and I find them easy and comfortable to wear. I decrease the fullness of the pockets a little by “trueing” the top of the lower side panel to match the width of the upper side panel where the two parts meet (hope that makes sense!). This only takes out about 2cm on each pocket but I find it helps make them a lot less oversized, while still having some volume. Happy sewing, can’t wait to see what you make at the end of March 😊

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  Год назад +1

      That's really helpful, thank you! I feel like that would make it less over the top with more structured fabrics and really opens up the options for this skirt. I definitely need to make one!

      Haha, don't worry. I don't really think that pockets would work with the silhouette of this skirt. I just thought I'd mention it as a design feature to bear in mind. As much as I like a good pocket, I've never let their absence stop me from making a pattern that I liked. 😉

    Great video Theresa. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to make from these great options!
    I haven't used needlecord myself, but does it gather well? I would have thought it could get a bit bulky in those gathered areas (and back waistband) of the Sew Over It Ruby skirt. (As I said, I'm not an expert in that fabric though.) I think the blue cotton linen blend would be a fab Ruby; so lovely and summery.
    If you want a skirt with a button placket for that needlecord, may I remind you of the Megan Nielsen Matilda dress...? (Not for this challenge though, obviously.) Think about how swooshy it'd be. You'd get the drama of the skirt without any bulk from gathers, and it would have the denim skirt vibe, and those pockets 😍

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  Год назад +1

      You make a good point about the needlecord. It's not quite as thick and bulky as wider whale corduroy, but it could end up a little full at the back. I think it would just create a different look. I'm totally seeing what you are saying about the Matilda dress, though. I love that idea! Agreed, not appropriate for this challenge, but that might just have to be the future of this fabric...
      The blue floral is my favorite for the Ruby. It's giving me summer vibes just thinking about it!

      How exciting! It sounds like she's doing really well! I'm sorry, but I'm not the best person to suggest patterns for kids because I don't have any. Most of the sewing patterns I use are for adults. I know that there are a few vloggers who make kids clothes, so you can always start there. Sew Amelia, Christine Sews a Lot, Made by Cath Crafts, Sew for Serenity and My Sewper Power are channels of RUclips vloggers who sew for kids. It might be worth checking them out?

    Really check the length on that pocket skirt. It turned out way too long on me, and I’m 5’6” tall.

    • @abe5849
      @abe5849 Год назад

      I agree-the pattern indicates that it was created for a person who is 5’7”. I wonder if I should also adjust the height of the pockets.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  Год назад +1

      That's so useful to hear, thank you! It probably depends on the height of your waist. I'm very high waisted, and I was planning on shortening it by 1", as I'm also 5'6. I might double check the finished garment measurements to be on the safe side!

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread  Год назад +1

      I actually decided to measure the pattern piece down to the notch for the pocket, but that probably depends a lot on the length of your torso/waist heights. I wish they had that measurement on the finished garment measurements!

      @@karolmolpus9536 it's tricky for me to say since I haven't done regular fabric shopping there for so long.
