  • In today's video, we look at new wah pedals from Vox. The Clyde McCoy and V846 Vintage wah pedals are authentic recreations of the original pedals. With iconic wah sounds from the 60s and 70s, these pedals make old-school pentatonic licks a lot more fun. The wider sweeping V846 was my favorite.

    Man, they both sound VERY GOOD. Very Vocal.......I would, of corse, like to heard them with a Strat.

      Yes, the same goes for me but this was the only guitar they had available at the booth. I was lucky to even get to play them as they're far too expensive for me to have them on the channel if they weren't appearing at Namm

      Agree 100% = Gotta play em with a Strat . . .

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds  6 месяцев назад +2

      That makes 3 of us. A strat is the Toyota Corolla of guitars. The standard, and the way that guitar players judge a pedal is by hearing a 50s, 60s or 70s style strat through it. Unfortunately , the SG is all they had

      Maybe Vox will see these comments and put a strat in the booth next yearn

    I don’t understand why Vox placed 2 tone sucking vintage bypass wahs one after the other at this show. So you have degraded / bottle necked bypass signal hitting the second Wah pedal which then further degrades and bottle necks the bypass signal. That does not compliment either of those pedals when you are engaging them one at a time……. Come on Vox you’re supposed to be leading the way??? This is school boy error stuff when it comes to pedals

    • @GearSounds
      @GearSounds  6 месяцев назад +2

      I would have to agree but since these are reissues I'd imagine they are true bypass. They don't mention it anywhere but I don't imagine they'd replicate those ancient buffers but they might have. Maybe that's why I preferred the 846 as it was first in the chain? Either way, you make an excellent point. I use an a/b pedal for comparisons at home and it looks like I'll need to bring an A/B pedal to Namm next year

      @@GearSounds I have bought both of them, just waiting for them to be delivered. I will be testing them against 4 x original 1967 Italian made Vox Clyde McCoys to see how much home work Vox has really done 👍

      That is a demo I can't wait to see! I'll have to check it out when you post it. You're really pulling the trigger on these expensive beasts? Well congrats and I look forward to hearing a more ideal testing environment than Namm. At least my audio is always top notch.

      Ah, okay then you'd be correct, this was a horrible way to set them up and it makes my comparison relatively flawed. That being said, I still believe most of what I said holds up in terms of their sweep characteristics but this setup puts the Clyde at a huge disadvantage

    Thanks a lot for this. They're both nice recreations but Joe Gagan's Italia which is an 846 clone and Oxbow Studio's Picture Wah clone crush both of these pedals from Vox. There's a clip on this site of Joe doing a side by side comparison to an 846 with an Italia and it's truly a clone..

      @@Rockzilla404 Wow, I just watched that video and I was extremely impressed. So it's a modification of an original vintage unit? I would love to have one of those on the channel. He sells them?

      The Italia in the clip is one that he built for me. It's his circuit and inductor in a modern shell. He sells them on Ebay and Reverb. All of his Wah pedals are awesome.. Check out the Oxbow Studio's Picture Wah clone clips on RUclips too. It's great.

      Yes, I think all guitar pedal companies demo their pedals on their own channel. However they also form relationships with influencers and send out pedals. You think it wouldn't be worth reaching out to him?
