Yeah, there's a huge difference between being a "McConaughey single" and an "Average guy single". Of course this guy was happy with himself, any woman would drop her pants for him, he could go to a club and take home any woman of his choice, whilst being single for the "rest of us" is dreaming of that chance, nothing more than that.
"happily and healthily single" means sleeping around with gorgeous women when it suited him.
Oh my god, what an amazing answer. So many people don't really talk about the fact that timing and "being ready" matters. You can meet the most amazing person you'll ever meet in your whole life... but if you're not ready for commitment for whatever reason... you might not even look at them twice. It matters.
Yes dont feel bad if the other person is not ready for you, you cant make them realise.
That's not what I see happening. Many people refuse to commit, but when they meet the one they suddenly change. It's not about timing, it's about knowing that person is the only one for you.

I'm just curious as to why you believe timing is so important. I have seen men refuse to commit, yet marry a different woman 6 months later, sometimes even sooner than that. That's why I believe the person being right is the most important, everything else will fall into place.
My wife and I have been married for 37 years. I met her in church. She was seated a few pews behind me. I just happened to look around and see this stunning woman. Her eyes were incredible. At the time, I was not looking for anyone but was captivated by her. Her physical beauty is only surpassed by her heart and character. In all honesty, I still react to her the same way as I did the first time I saw her.

The perfect example of synchronicity. He wasn't looking, just enjoying his life, and this vision floated by. Then, his inner Matthew took over and he made all the right moves including understanding Portuguese in a loud club and being able to respond in his best Spanish ever. And the fact that he was content with his life and relationships at the time meant he was open and receptive. Love this story and love me some Matthew!

In conclusion, he was attracted, had children, but didn't want to marry her until he felt forced by her.
Women romanticizing this interview just makes me realize the reason many are so bitter about the male gender ... women wilfully choose walking red flags to sleep with, date and/or marry then cry that their choices have consequences. Their blame is only geared towards men which only further makes them choose the same type again or become bitter lonely Karen's.

We met and it was just the right time in our lives. We have now celebrated 29 years of the most devoted love.
I met both of them at ACL ( Austin city limits) which is a music festival. At first when I saw Camilla I was going to tell her “ wow you are one of the most beautiful woman I have seen” but I didn’t go the chance because from the corner of my eye I saw him walking towards me and I just lost it “ hi how are ya?” He said and I just said “ good how about you” and shook his hand. Non picture, no autograph, I was lost in that moment.

He is so right about the "timing". I know a lot of people who would have perfect for each other but for some reason the time wasn't right, either one of them had just come out from a draining relationship and felt "empty", not capable of giving and engaging in a new meaningful story, or someone who just started a new relationship with someone else, kids involved, personal issues etc. I think the KEY is that he was perfectly OK with himself when he met her, he wasn't looking, he was content with what he had and what he was, his own company.....i think that's the best place to be to meet the right person in your life. Luck counts

Since this past year I haven’t been worried about dating or getting into a relationship but to really enjoy being single. I’m happy and content with how my life is at the moment and I have great people already surrounding me. Let me finish the sentence for Matthew; "I uttered the words marry me at a moment of passion, not really meaning it as a proposal. But, a week later Alma invited me to our wedding. She & her family threw together the fastest wedding preparations in the history of mankind! They left no detail undone! I didn't know what happened, it happened so fast." That's what he told me, among plenty of other things. And, by the way, after that, for a while in 2008 & 9, he was living alone in a trailer at a State Beach in CA. I suppose because he was so happily married, & such a nice guy.

What stood out to me is when Matthew said he was "Happily & Healthy Single." I had to write that down and ask myself was I Happily & Healthy Single...and my answer was NO. That's when I realized I needed to do more work on the Healthy part.

I have followed many an interview, documentary...read loads of very interesting articles and after many years of watching him and listening to him speak...I can at least say that he seems like a great, solid and wise man to know!!! Blessed to have found his love...Happy for them both and their beautiful family!
You know what... when I met the love of my life, I also was not looking, I was happy with myself .. I was like "I am not looking for a guy. not right now or any nearest future" ...and then, two weeks later I met a guy and he is like 100% match with me! :)

Matthew was talking about how he met his wife at a restaurant with friends, he was making margaritas. He stated she spoke Portuguese and he understood a little and he offered her a margarita, he felt it was the right time and the right place.

My husband spotted me at his sisters wedding, he was still married at the time. Going thru the last throes of a bad marriage. Then 5 months later he showed up at my door step! He was so persistent! I was rather annoyed by this rude guy, who assumed that just cuz he was drop dead gorgeous I’d go out with him. I asked how did you get my number n address? Lol his mother gave it to me! She liked me for him.... What’s even more strange is that I’ve known his family all my life. Just never knew him cuz he was 9 yrs older that me so we never ran into each other until I was older! His cousin and I were best friends. Our parents friends! When he was 19 I was 9! Lol I made him leave, said I don’t date married guys. He came back 2 weeks later with a copy of his Divorce papers tied with a red ribbon, he stayed for dinner and never left until he passed away 45 years later..
I wouldn't touch a guy if I knew he was looking while he was still married. Red flag. But glad it worked out for you.
