My grandma did this to my mom and today they have a mom-daughter relationship. I don't think it's cool in any way for a MIL to do so to her son's partner. Why be petty when you can be nice? Thank goodness, my MIL has always been sweet to me and I pay her back by including her, calling, giving her updates and everything. She deserves it.
I think the MIL needed a Man and substituted her son as if he were her husband.

They are playing the role of gatekeeper. It comes from a place of love and protection but it can be a lot. You gotta hold your ground and stay strong.

Definitely. I mean, I get that families are close but there needs to be boundaries. Adult children needs to establish boundaries and stay strong in those boundaries. Parents need to realize that their parenting is done and needs to let the kids make their own decision and be respectful. GOD bless. 🙏❤️🙏

Apparently he didn’t, so Camila had to take action. His mother probably wanted a pretty little white girl for her son. Someone that look more like her.
If this was me I would of told him, and his Mom off, and broke up with him/filed for divorce.

His mother has always been difficult at observing boundaries. She cross the line with Matthew so many times, Matthew was forced to block her, they didn't speak for YEARS.
I guess Camila can laugh about it now but Matthew’s mom was just being rude and nasty! Absolutely no reason to behave in that manor. I never want to be that type of mother in law.

@@ceciliawade exactly. There are plenty of situations just like this where the man’s mother ends up pushing his partner away. Those men just happen to not be Mathew McConaughey. There are ways to determine whether or not a person your child is dating is good for them without being a toxic boy mom and making their partner feel unwelcome or attacked.
Like I said, glad they had the outcome they did but it usually doesn’t end up like this. The partner usually leaves or the relationship stays toxic forever.

No mom is not embarrassed. She is a true Southern lady. Both ladies, mom and daughter in law have strong characteristics and i am sure love very strongly too❤

@ceciliawade Yeah I think that's excessive. She found a good man. They got married and created a family she was absolutely right to not let his mother destroy that, which was why the mom was acting up in the first place she could sense Matthew was serious about that woman.

Thank goodness my MIL is not only kind and loving, but she's not a childish woman who feels she needs to compete with her son's love interest. This is not an uplifting story, its a pathetic story. No woman should bully another woman just to "test" her. Grow up and stop being stewards of patriarchy. And mothers who are obsesed with your sons and feel like you need to compete, grow up, stop the foolishness because its creepy and gross. Again, I feel sooooo blessed to have my MIL who has been nothing but kind and loving and welcoming, as she should be to anyone who loves her child.
All family tests each other. Gawd, if you think your mil is difficult, imagine how your spouse feels. You're either part of the family or you're not. If you're part of the family then you have to fight like family. The fights can sometimes be mean and dirty, but at the end of the day family protect each other no matter what. I fight with my in-laws just as I would fight with my siblings, they're family now, so I don't hold back and I expect them to do the same.
So happy for them and that everything is going so well for them. What an amazing beautiful family. I had my share of parents and parents-in-laws and relatives moments. And now treated with respect and honor. Matthew McConaughey hit the jackpot and has an amazing beautiful wife and family.

@dextermoore278 She’s Brazilian from mixed race ancestry - Portuguese, black, indigenous. 'Brazilian' is not a race, it's a nationality just like American is not a race but a nationality. There are black Brazilians, white Brazilians, Asian Brazilians, native/ indigenous Brazilians, mixed-race Brazilians, Brazilians from Lebanese ancestry etc.

15 years later, 3 kids, most grown up already and he's having the time of his life. He hit the jackpot. Plus, she is way richer than him.
