    I just replaced the Timing Chains, Guides, Tensioners, Cam Phasers, VCT Solenoids, and the Oil Pump on a Ford 5.4 Liter 3 Valve Engine. It's similar to the Land Rover Timing Chain Job. I'm in the market for a 2012 Land Rover LR 4. I know the Timing Chain Guides were upgraded by Land Rover because they were very problematic. Your video helped me to see where the Timing Marks are for the LR 4. I really appreciate the time you took for me to complete the Land Rover Timing Job successfully.

    I did head gaskets on a 2011 range rover sport 5.0 supercharged. Only special tools I used were the counter hold for the crank pulley. Just marked the chains in one particular spot and finagled the cams off without pulling the phasers.. worked out better than expected. Thanks for the video. According to manual 35NM pretension on intake LH sprocket and exhaust RH sprocket should be done before removing the tools that fix crankshaft in place. And for the guys out there - according to manual they tell you to turn crank 2 full revolutions but they dont tell you that marks will be in the same place - because they wont - they will move one tooth back and will keep moving back each revolution. So you have to spin engine a lot of times to get back the marks in the initial position and this is normal so don’t be confused.

My understanding is Cylinder 1 is the forward most cylinder on the passenger bank. When I align my crank key way to 6 o'clock, reluctor/flywheel lock installed, and the cams to the horizontal position with the square mark at the bottom (locked with the tool) cylinder one is not at TDC quite yet, verified with a endoscope camera. K Diagnostic, This is an excellent video and training piece you’ve done. I stumbled on it as I was looking for one for a 3.0 V6 supercharged engine for a RangeRover 2015. Who’d you say the same applies on the V6 engine? Mine just blow the gaskets from a major coolant leak incident. Apparently had been leaking from the rear crossover (heater manifold) pipe but was not noticed until we had a major one from the front crossover as well. I did the replacements in my garage but only realized the gaskets are gone after I finished the work and the vehicle failed to start due to loss of compression. Would like to work with you on it, if you don’t mind.

    If you are going to teach and demonstrate please buy a Lazer pointer to help show what you are showing, talking about, and demonstrating even tho most won't attempt this repair but the one who will know the alignment marks 😊

    Is there anyway to contact you to maybe pick your brain a bit about this? I’m almost ready to crack my timing covers open and begin this job and could use a little clarity on a few specifics before I do. Thank you for the video!

    Hello sir! Great video! I decided to do a head gasket and complete timing component replacement job on my 2011 Jaguar XF 5.0 only after watching this and a few other videos. I'm at a point in the job where I'm confused. I have both heads torqued down and the timing perfectly set up. I just rotated the engine two full revolutions as required. I have both camshaft alignment tools back in place and they both went in perfectly. My issue is I assumed after rotating the engine two times and making sure the two camshafts on each side were still in alignment are the yellow and white painted chain links supposed to also line up with the timing marks just as before I rotated the engine two full rotations or is it normal for the chain alignment marks to now not match those marks on the phasers and black plastic rail? The engine rotated smoothly with no resistance when I did rotate two times? Thank you!

      Terry Young this is a good question! don't worry about the marks on the chains and phasers, as long as your timing tools can be installed after rotating the engine twice, you should be good!! the marks on the chains are supposed to be lined up only on the initial set up, before turning the engine, so make sure crank tool and cam tools can be inserted and that's all

      @@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I'm confused about this also, in your video it looks like you turned the engine and the marks all lined back up? I'm wondering because I'm wanting to pull covers off one of these to try to determine if the chain is off a tooth and I'm wondering if I spin the engine several times if the marks will line up to verify them and crank at 6:00...or if the chain marks never line back up again correctly once the engine turns.

    • @KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair
      @KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair  2 года назад +3

      @@stephenwhite5444 it's difficult to line up the links on the chain after you spin the engine, you have to turn it so many times to get them to line up, I recommend spinning the engine twice after setting up all the marks correctly, then check the position of the crankshaft and camshafts ! with the timing tools
