Ah I was cheering on Attenborough after that call when he had 4s earlier on in the tournament. Didn't see too much of the winner in the highlight reels but was gifted the victory here. Gg to both. I also agree with most of the comments here, this is the biggest major in poker it shouldn't be behind a paywall, imagine if moneymakers victory all those years ago was a pay to view scenario poker wouldn't be 10% as popular as it is now this type of coverage has the complete opposite effect, there's no one gonna pay for coverage unless they're into poker already so how is it gonna convert new players to the beautiful game we all love

@@dalekerr5091 who said anything about ESPN I'm not from the US. My point is still valid even if it was originally broadcast on cable in your country. ,ESPN covers a host of different sports, people paid the subscription for maybe NFL or basketball or whatever, they then stumbled upon some average Joe called Chris Moneymaker playing for millions of dollars in a game they maybe didn't fully understand but it peaked their interest and started following, then when this "average everyday guy" goes onto win,the game grows in popularity and the poker boom is born. Now imagine if this was exclusively a pay walled poker channel instead. The interest in it would be from poker enthusiasts only, no or very few new players and no boom.

Fair play to Mr Hess who knew the benefits of tv broadcasting and a nice little workaround. I'm not sure what the current tv broadcasting rights are in the future of the wsop but hoping it goes back to a more accessible form. PokerGO needs to go. Go back to the ESPN episodes and have the final table in November with the November 9. 12 hours of broadcasting a day is stupid and the main event has been worse every year since it went to PokerGO. The episodes highlighted the best hands from all around the tournament instead of constant stale featured tables where something interesting happens once an hour.

When you're coked out on cocaine like Stu Unger, it's pretty easy to sit for 10-15 hours at a time playing poker for 2-3 days in a row with high mental cognition. Unger probably reupped his coke intake in the men's toilet. The only downfall is that addiction led to poor health in all aspects, ultimately killing him.
