Hi ! Well, the curtain missing tells you it wasn t a team driving ! lol ! I drove a nice big freightliner with a 10 speed semi-automatic wich means before shifting you press a button on the shifter and when you take it of the gear you re in...the engine would go up by itself exactly where it goes in the next gear so all you need to do is enter the shifter in the gear ! lol ! We were hauling 3 axle trailers and we had lots of power still. a Detroit is great ! I drove basically all the kind of trucks on the road...in 35 years Coasr to Coast in Canada ! many years pulling B-Trains 5 axles ! that s averaging loads of just over 93,000 lbs ! now thats what you can call heavy ! lol ! hey ! have a safe one ! in case you didn t know,...Dave from Smart Trucking..passed a month ago ! made me cry ! i m the same age, same 35 years experience and same amount of miles 5 millions ! 😎
Crazy, but awesome video nonetheless. We’re both going through vehicle issues. Just bought and replaced all the wheel bearings in the PT Cruiser, that was a learning experience and so much fun (not really). Hope the house is going good, and can’t wait to see it and y’all. Going to a Harley training course for beginners (hopefully) in December in maryville. Was thinking about a street 500 as my 1st and I don’t have to worry about gear since I wear motorcycle gear when I’m riding my scooter so that’ll save me a little bit of money

Hey--that steering issue sounds familiar. A FREIGHTLINER (coincidence ?) Triaxle dump I was driving had the same heating issue. You could start off cold, just drive literally around the block and the steering reservoir would be so hot you couldn't touch it. That truck had 2 steering boxes, one on each side. They first changed the pump--nope. Then the left steering box--nope. Then the filter inside the reservoir that most people don't even know is there--nope. Then all the lines, thinking one was collapsed inside and causing a restriction--nope. But the thing it was doing, besides getting hot, when you turn a corner (either way) the wheel wouldn't spin back straight by itself like it should. You had to turn it, and it had resistance a restriction in the oil flow. Of course we checked kingpins and everything else imaginable. Never did figure it out, but I moved back up north so it became someone else's problem ! That truck was a '95 I think ? And it was 10 years ago. Oh well, maybe just a "Freightshaker" thing !!! Sucks about your bumper too. Hopefully get a new one while it's in the shop. How are the buildings coming along ? Maybe I missed one, but I'm subscribed so I should've gotten them all. Till next time 🙂
Oh yeah almost forgot--you're right about a 13 spd. helping out with hills of course. I was never a fan of 10 spds.. Very first truck I ever drove back in '76 maybe, was a '71 Brockway 361 "Husky" with a 250 Cummins and a RTO12513 Roadranger. Yes you read it correctly--250 hp 🤯 !!! Non turbo.
yah just about sounds right - we looked over everything and it stumped us for a while... I think the filter (which I didn't know existed either) will fix this one.. here's hoping...
I was going to ask about how your store your cigars for the road, then i saw the travel humidor. How many cigars can that hold, and do you only smoke what you have in the humidor or do you also try to visit a cigar shop when you're on the road?
I can get about 12-15 cigars in it but usually keep about half that with me.. there has only been one time that I was driving that I was able to stop at a brick and mortar shop but I always keep my eye out - there are sometimes truck stops that carry a small selection but their humidity is not generally set correctly - or is nonexistent - so I have to be careful about what I buy from there
@@being_eli thanks for the reply love your videos, i have one called Cigar Caddy that can hold up to 10 but like you i may carry half of that, or maybe slightly more than that on occasion. What do you currently have in your travel humidor and how do you choose which cigar you want to smoke?
@@raptorsfan29 well that's a great question! I generally keep a couple cheapie cigars, like the trader jacks or factory smokes, just a couple that if I want something shorter smoking or an extra one for the day, I don't feel bad having it.. for my longer, better smokes, I love the CAO flathead 660 - pretty much anything by CAO.. as we can buy a pack of Gurkhas fairly cheaply, I usually have one or two of theirs in there too.. the Ghost is a great one to try if u haven't had it and like a darker stick..
a lot adds up to a cost of these guys.. if I recall correctly, this particular truck was in the $30k range. this one has over a million miles on it and is 11 yrs old. pretty standard mileage for that age.. been kept up with nicely, inside and out.. I would absolutely expect to pay $30k minimum and only plan on paying more if you want newer..
Nice looking truck at how to make you a lot of money if you take care of it and some things usually lighting up so you can haul some weight and make some money good luck to you
well, great thought! I have used that paint for some time and have never had an issue but going thru this (and I will continue to have to deal with it for some time yet) makes me never want to paint them again, at least with the gel... it could have been the UV light, or my removal process from the last set.. I just don't know..
The last of the Freightliner split windows, and reliability..These newer trucks are not designed for O/O to survive only mega carriers or companies that buy 10-25+ trucks at a time..making their money by volume...That's why companies can't keep drivers unless they're on dedicated accounts or 90% drop and hook..The rest of the companies 250 trucks or less need to have drivers on Salary or miles which ever Is greater..short runs don't pay miles....That Glider is a great buy especially if your on paper logs and don't allow anyone to force any type of Elog...
Yikes !!! When it rains it pours eh ??? Geez!!! Not a good start in the new freightshaker !!! Hopefully you get your steering issues figured out asap n get to enjoy sugar ;))) be safe out there smiley and keep the greasy side down n shiney side up !!! ;))) hope to maybe run into some day and get to run some miles with ya in my ole freight shaker and shoot the 💩 and have a few laughs ;)) take care girl !!

I had a 2014 Cascadia with 500hp DD15/10 speed had 370k miles when I bought it and after about two months driving everything just started breaking down I ended up spending more than $150k in repairs in less than two years and still couldn't pay off the truck payments because it kept taking all the money I was making faster than I could make it!
man I hate hearing that!! that story is all too familiar tho and the main reason I will never be an O/O... I hope u were able to get out from under that truck and start making good $ again!
@being_eli Oh I was assuming you were O/O who just upgraded to the Coronado, I never followed your channel before I only noticed your video because I've always liked the Coronado and would've preferred one over Cascadia. Before my truck broke down that last time and was repoed I had recently accumulated some MVR points from driving with expired registration because I didn't have renewal money and got caught passing a weigh station because I knew I was riding dirty. I'm still in massive debt while I'm now driving for $0.42/mile because I can't get hired on anything better until my points go down.
well that will be a huge step then - so many companies are paying .60+ cpm now - u will feel like u hit the jackpot! I really hope the rest of your trucking career is filled with success!
well the rogue is pretty small, even for the Nissan lineup.. the Coronado is a long nose, longer wheel base, therefore larger than most of the freights these days, with cascadia and century class being popular company trucks, so not sure if that comparison is accurate?
oooh, good engine! this Detroit would be great with a 13 speed and a heavy hauler tune.. u can feel at times where the power band is but it is short lived and at higher rpm..not great for fuel economy but hey....
I have always kept it down but on this truck, I am gonna leave it up until one of my kids or friends goes out with me. I have a lot of storage in this truck, more than I have had in others, so for now, I am not needing the top bunk space
Problem might not be DOT but their insurance carrier. You tube is rampant with people driving around without seatbelts. Unfortunately it’s the law of the land. If someone’s insurance carrier saw a video showing violations then they may lose their policy or wind up paying more. The worst thing that can happen is they get in a collision and wind up getting sued. You can be rest assured the plaintiffs attorney will scour the social media scene for anything out there and if they find something as simple as not wearing a seatbelt while operating a moving CMV on public roads they can suggest to a jury that if the motor carrier can’t follow basic safety rules what else are they not doing. Funny thing is the collision might even be the other parties fault but but showing a history of violations can bring a voluntary judgement upon the MC even before going to trial. It happens more than you think.
yes there are all sorts of ways that the gov can mess with people, most of them dirty and corrupt... I was a paramedic before I was a driver, and I used to sell cars - we had to go do car testing and learn all about wreck types - and I still just hate wearing it.. I don't wear one on my motorcycle.. if I am in a wreck and I don't have a belt on, I have hurt no one but myself, yet the govt can come in and "force" u to have to wear it.. my stubborn side takes over - I just hate it.. although there are days where I just have a feeling, I listen to my intuition, and I wear it.. those are rare tho
I have had several century classes.. if I want to go tru old school, then it is the classic xl all day long.. that's why I love this Coronado.. it literally gives u the best of both trucks!
yah they do pretty good.. im getting closer to 7mpg but its a 500hp engine.. I have to get my fuel gauge fixed so then I will be able to tell more accurately what mpg I am getting. :)
well the whole front end is now rebuilt.. hopefully we have gotten all the gremlins out because she does drive nice.... I have high hopes for this high mileage baby!

Why on Earth would you name a Freightliner "Pete" My 1986 Freightliner Glider has an 18,000# front axle 13 speed and 400 Cummis .. It grossed 160,000 # for 500,000 miles here in Michigan pulling double dumps with 11 axles. It is geared to run 55 MPH I think it will do 60 MPH at 2,100 RPM's It steers easy like a car.. but if you hit a rut off road it will brake your thumbs when it jerks the steering wheel out of your hands. When I was 9 years old a Farmer taught me how to hold the steering wheel on my Minneapolis Moline Tractor with no power steering. You keep your thumbs on the top of the wheel you never wrap your thumbs down where then the wheel gets spun by a rut the steering wheel spokes will break your thumbs. My 1968 FWD has a 21,000# front axle with 20" wide tires and steers like a car.. The steering gear box is manual there is a valve in the drag link that puts the power steering to a cylinder mounted to one part of the hub and anchored on the axle .. Previous owners did not keep the tapered ball mounts tight and they got wallered out. I have to take tin cans and make shims to shim the tapered holes. If the power steering cylinder gets loose, it will make the front wheels shake violently .. I have an Oshkosh with a manual steering box too. It has a power steering cylinder in the drag link on the left side and a booster cylinder on the right side. It has a 23,000# front axle and also steers like a car. Every time the Freightliner sits for a while I have to add 2 quarts of tranny fluid to the power steering fluid reservoir. I need to find that leak .
lmao, yah the freight liner named itself (they all do with me) and after driving it for some time, I gave in and just started calling it Pete.. it just had that attitude.. :). sounds like u have some interesting trucks to work with too! the hubs and I are pretty meticulous in our house also, but in the truck I am over the top some days.. I just can't have an unorganized and dirty area to work and live in.. it's too small a space to include junk and filth in.. glad to hear u appreciate the cleaner things in life too!
Happy for her
Congratulations on getting the truck you love don't listen to the negative comments there jealous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I appreciate that and I don't take any of the negativity personally.. its from people that don't know the situation fully and everyone these days thinks their opinion is the smart one... thanks for being here and being kind!
im so sorry to hear about Dave's passing! and yah, u sure did do some heavy hauling - 93k is no joke!!
I like the chrome shifter!!!!
I would love to put a topper on it.. :)
When i get a used truck, steering get checked, and definitely 2 new know brand steer tires .
oh yes.. the steer tires are the first thing I look at.. that and the brakes..
Great video the Coronado is a excellent machine top the FreightLiner
thank u and I agree, the freights are just great workhorses!
Was thinking about a street 500 as my 1st and I don’t have to worry about gear since I wear motorcycle gear when I’m riding my scooter so that’ll save me a little bit of money
ooh I am so excited that u are doing the course! maryville offers a really good one! let me know how it goes! when the house is done and life slows down, I absolutely can't wait to have u up and do a visit at CI!
very nice truck👍
thank u! I love it!!
Nice truck.
Thanks!
Super CONGRATS
thank u!
Great truck!!! An 18spd would give a lot better bottom end as you split the bottom 5.
totally agree! I would love a 13 or 15 speed... I think that would be a nice fit but u are right - the 18 might just do it up right!
I love the truck
me too!! :)
@ Happy Thanksgiving to you . and if i could be a truck driver i so would but i cant .
Glad to see your really into your transportation trade old school Freightliner long hood Coronado glad your driving a Manual gearbox that cab looks very roomy and well appointed hope your driving ownership experience goes well look into a Tiger steering gear equalizer you will have to research it it may be better than buying a new TRW steering gearbox $$big bucks
yah its been a good industry for me, 20 yrs so far.. and I don't own this truck- my company bought it for me - and has done a great job of getting everything in order on it.. she just has character, a real "sense of humor".. :)
you can take away the passenger seat for extra space and storage or bolt a larger refrigerator to the floor. and put in an air fryer for steaks.
well I can't remove the passenger seat because my kids go out with me some and I have taken several of our drivers on various errands as well... I have considered putting an air fryer in, as they are smaller in general.. many ideas... I just need to get my inverter installed so I can use this fridge....
Im really loving your big styles rings and what type of a bracelet is that your wearing
barb wire bracelet :) and thanks!!
Great video
Thanks so much!
Good choice i hope you got a serie 60 on this trck like me .....well my 2009 cascadia have a original Detroit derie 60 14 liter
yes DDE 60 - good engine!
Nice truck!! How's the flatbed industry doin?
pretty good so far.. I have some days where I have just had enough - of trucking period - but overall, I really enjoy what I am doing and who I am working for
Great videos!!! Love how you incorporate your subscribers into your day. You will get your truck right for sure. For every question there is an answer. Take look at my favorite book 📕 Louise Hay “ I Can Do It” a great book and I think your young horse riding trainees will love it also. I bless you and the family in love ❤
Thanks 👍 I will look that book up! and yes, the truck will come along :)
That's a nice truck to be a 2013
yes former owner took good care of it, overall
Non turbo.
250hp??? holy cow man!! sounds like it wouldn't pull a wet string out of a whale's ass!! lmao!
yah just about sounds right - we looked over everything and it stumped us for a while... I think the filter (which I didn't know existed either) will fix this one.. here's hoping...
fingers crossed for u :)
Being Eli have you found any breezes yet for a cigar review?
nope, generally protected inside or I have gotten lucky with good weather
Bump up Ur idle on Ur trk when sitting still to around 900-1000rpm if running the engine
I do that every time!
Power steering pump going out or the top hose is clogged or closing when turning special if these hoses dried.
pump and steering box both replaced, it was the filter in the reservoir..
Hi,
How many cost a truck like that if I can ask??
a lot adds up to a cost of these guys.. if I recall correctly, this particular truck was in the $30k range. this one has over a million miles on it and is 11 yrs old. pretty standard mileage for that age.. been kept up with nicely, inside and out.. I would absolutely expect to pay $30k minimum and only plan on paying more if you want newer..
Coronado is a Freightliner century o Columbia but more bigger in dimensions hood and other parts but is a nice rig and rides the good
yes, quite the same as the century class, longer wheel base tho.... love it!
Nice looking truck at how to make you a lot of money if you take care of it and some things usually lighting up so you can haul some weight and make some money good luck to you
yup, it always pays to keep good maintenance up on these trucks, and to only buy from those that do as well
Beautiful
Thank you!
Always wanted one
yes this was a truck I had mentioned to the owners specifically - there is so much I love about it!
nice! congratulations!
u'r welcome!
Thanks again!

Hey i got my bottom lobs piercings done yesterday October 27th
excellent! love getting the work done, I need some tattoo work done... money....
@being_eli so i kinda thought about getting one but a small one next year not sure what yet on my left or right side arm
get something that means something permanantly to u.. for example, my first tattoo was my birth sign, scorpio. it will never change
Nice wheels....
hehe thank u!
It makes me wonder if there was some lead in the fingernail polish.
well, great thought! I have used that paint for some time and have never had an issue but going thru this (and I will continue to have to deal with it for some time yet) makes me never want to paint them again, at least with the gel... it could have been the UV light, or my removal process from the last set.. I just don't know..
You need a big European Scanio or DAF to transport the sugar.
hahaha right?!
I dont know whats hotter!! the truck or the driver!!
@@sagnbaby aw ty so much for that kind compliment! But I can answer it for u- the truck is waaaay hotter!! 😬
I couldn't agree more with u, the older trucks were built way better... but I do love the solid windshield, always hated the split ones..

Do you have to run an eld?
no still running paper logs, due to age of trucks and mileage we run
David I am so sorry to hear that! how much longer do u have till the points come off?
@@being_eli looks like next year by fall hopefully
well that will be a huge step then - so many companies are paying .60+ cpm now - u will feel like u hit the jackpot! I really hope the rest of your trucking career is filled with success!
Great for u
thank u!
The Nissan Rogue is kind of like the Freightliner Coronado with the exception of the windshield.
well the rogue is pretty small, even for the Nissan lineup.. the Coronado is a long nose, longer wheel base, therefore larger than most of the freights these days, with cascadia and century class being popular company trucks, so not sure if that comparison is accurate?
Hi I had the same year glider a pre 1999 3406 e cat engine
oooh, good engine! this Detroit would be great with a 13 speed and a heavy hauler tune.. u can feel at times where the power band is but it is short lived and at higher rpm..not great for fuel economy but hey....
Please dont quit the girlie
hehe ok, I will keep taking a shot at it :)
Classic is the only frieghtliner I like 14 liters engine RTLO 169/13A rear ratio 3:58
I love the Classic, just hate the cramped feel inside.. but its a damn solid truck, all day every day
👉🏼 Put yer top bunk down…
= More storage!
I have always kept it down but on this truck, I am gonna leave it up until one of my kids or friends goes out with me. I have a lot of storage in this truck, more than I have had in others, so for now, I am not needing the top bunk space
Beautiful truck but we have to stop giving DOT reasons to give us more regulations wear a seat belt your asking for a ticket
I do wear a seat belt when I go thru a scale.. :)
@@being_eli🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@being_eliwhat a badasss answer. I wish America had remained like this. We’re losing that essence every day.
13spd, 15spd, or 18spd would DEFINITELY be BETTER
love the 13 speeds.. would be nice to have one put in this truck but I will just hold out for that much later on.. :)
That's the problem with those million mile trucks. 🤕🍻
I know... its kind of a crap shoot on how long they keep up
I love the truck, but I'm old school I love the century class
I have had several century classes.. if I want to go tru old school, then it is the classic xl all day long.. that's why I love this Coronado.. it literally gives u the best of both trucks!
Kingpins
Colleague has similar with detroit
10 mile per gallon 460 hp
yah they do pretty good.. im getting closer to 7mpg but its a 500hp engine.. I have to get my fuel gauge fixed so then I will be able to tell more accurately what mpg I am getting. :)

I liked my Pete a lot... they are pretty damn classic, for sure
They can have electrical gremlins says mt buddy Cesar
haha yes they can!!! she has had quite a few that needed exorcising...
Rosewood dash
yes I love that little xtra!
Yeah get use to being in shop thats a million mile truck
well the whole front end is now rebuilt.. hopefully we have gotten all the gremlins out because she does drive nice.... I have high hopes for this high mileage baby!
I see that truck has long legs 1400rpm at 65mph. The 18 would be much better.
@@LawrenceSchmid-u5d yes that’s one of its “no go zones”.. 72-80, runs great, right in the power band. 55-65? Not much happening

wow thank u for those inspirational words, very well written!!! Yahweh is present daily and in each moment!
Why on Earth would you name a Freightliner "Pete" My 1986 Freightliner Glider has an 18,000# front axle 13 speed and 400 Cummis .. It grossed 160,000 # for 500,000 miles here in Michigan pulling double dumps with 11 axles. It is geared to run 55 MPH I think it will do 60 MPH at 2,100 RPM's
It steers easy like a car.. but if you hit a rut off road it will brake your thumbs when it jerks the steering wheel out of your hands.
I generally always drive with thumbs on top so I loved seeing that comment :)
