Hi Paul, a lovely walk around Polperro. It does sound expensive to park but good to know there are alternatives. Here's a thought about the Toponomy (new word learnt today!!) Pol being the river and Perro being dog in Spanish perhaps from the term "old sea dog!! Just a thought!! Nuria and I have have visited most of Cornwall watching these German films set in Cornwall, it would be a real surprise for us to discover that Cornish people don't all live in great big mansion houses and drive open topped sports cars!! We have given these type of films a nickname (there are Swedish equivalents too but set in Sweden,) we call them "Chimy-Changies", I have really no idea why!! Lovely video, always like the sound of seagulls. All the best!!
Thank you David! I was very impressed with my first visit to Polperro. I think you could be on to something about the Spanish connection and its toponomy - actually, when I was younger and heard about people on holiday here, I actually thought they had gone to Spain, as the name of the village sounds more Spanish than Cornish. With the Armada and all that, I think it is entirely possible. Yes, those German (and others too) dramas make everything look impossibly glamorous don't they! Chimy-Changies - love that! Glad you enjoyed it! Take care, Paul
So lovely to see Polperro! My parents had a great love of visiting this place and it’s really lovely to now know what they enjoyed so much about it. I really look forward to visiting sometime myself. I would definitely take the bus! So much cheaper than parking. This was a really enjoyable watch. Thank you Paul!
Thank you Louise! I can see why your parents loved this place so much. It really is lovely. Yes, £2 for an hour's ride on the bus but not as good value as the Mendip Explorer from Taunton to Bristol! Glad you enjoyed it! Take care, Paul
Hello Paul - greetings from Poland. Like you, I've nvere been to Polperro. What a beautiful fishing village. You photographed it extremely well. your video was superb along with the commentary. Lovely to catch a glimpse of Nicole in the background at the end of the film.
Thank you! Yes, it was Nicole. In fact, it was Nicole that told me about the 'trams' that used to run to Polperro! Malcolm Richardson asks me this question in the comment above. I have now answered it after Nicole found out the answer. It is a really lovely place. Hope you are better now. Take care, Paul
Thank you Faith! It is indeed a rather lovely and charming place, but it can get a little busy! There used to be trams running (battery operated) that took you from the car park and bus stop and down (and or up!) to the village. Sadly, no more! They stopped when the first lockdown happened and won't be returning again, according to my daughter. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care, Paul
Hello Paul. A very pleasant stroll around a lovely fishing village. What a pity the Model Village was closed. I would have liked to have seen that. Take care and thank you for your wonderful films.
Thank you so much Lionel & Mary. Sorry, I don't have much time to watch your videos with caring duties, and everything else. Yes, it is a really lovely place. Great to hear from you! Take care, Paul
You do surprise me with some of your locations. I'd never heard of Polperro, what a lovely place. Glad it's not just me who finds places that are closed!
Thank you Alice! I can't believe that I hadn't been here before. Myself and my daughter had a good day here. It is indeed rather lovely. Many moons ago, some neighbours went here and when they sent a postcard (remember them!), I thought it was in Spain! Great to hear from you! I did watch you video where the funicular railway was closed in Spain, and I sent a comment (I was out at the time) and I lost the signal so I don't think it went through. It looked a really lovely place too. Take care, Paul
A beautifully presented video- it must have helped that the weather looked perfect! It’s good that it has a very large car pk for all these picture perfect small resorts get jammed packed in the summer season- Lyme Regis now charges a whopping £ 15 for a stay over4 hrs! When you then add on the cost of food & attractions it becomes very expensive for a day out. Were those people at 11.36 queueing up for a boat trip? Liked the b&b on the stilts- very unusual! Thanks Paul
Thank you so much! Wow! £15 for parking in Lyme! That's outrageous! Glad I walked there along the coast last time I visited it. I would definitely get the Jurassic Coast bus from Axminster Station next time! I think they were waiting for a boat but I thought the water level due to tide was a bit low. Yes, that B&B was wonderful! Take care, Paul
A lovely place in winter! Stay at Looe, walk over via Talland bay, past the poignant war memorial and into Polpero. Have a pint and catch the bus back from the car park.
Thank you Frank! Yes, that is a very good tip! I don't think I have ever been to Talland Bay - another one to add to my ever growing list of places to visit! Cheers, Paul
Looks delightfully situated and very picturesque, though I imagine it gets very crowded in the summer season. Amazing how works of fiction do wonders for tourism - probanbly more than 'guide books'. I understand Polperro used to have a unique 'tram' system. Is it still running? Thank you.
Thank you Malcolm. Yes, it is a really lovely place. My daughter told me about the trams. I didn't know anything about them! Sadly they stopped when the first lockdown happened, and they have no plans whatsoever to make them return. It was a simple arrangement and they were electric and left from the giant car park and bus stop and took you into the village (or, back up, thus avoiding walking uphill!) - there are some photos of them online. They look like a cross between a milk float and a bus! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Paul
Thank you - glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, quite (re: car parking)! Thank goodness for the regular busses from Liskeard and Looe! The car park prices do seem particularly steep. Thank so much, Take care, Paul
Lovely Paul, thanks
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Cheers,
Paul

What a charming & interesting little place. It's not a wonder it is so popular.
Thank you Faith!
