I've been a fan of Can for about 25yrs. now (ever since hearing them for the first time on a college radio station I was a loyal listener of back in the early '90s), but the more and more that I listen to them, the more I admire their individual and collective musicianship and come to the conclusion that they were the most-talented assemblage of musicians in western pop music history (of late 20th century)
First heard the tune "up hill" and absolutely loved it. Didn't look further into the band until years later and found a veritable treasure trove. This is my latest favorite song. I'm glad they are getting the recognition they deserve since songs like Vitamin C were used in popular movies etc. Too bad the rhythm section is already gone. I have played music for many, many years and I can't tell you how Can have influenced my "style", if I have one.
they are for sure one of the very top phenomenons for the music scene at least of the last 50 years ... came out of nowhere and created - more than any other group - a complete own universe ... one of the very few reasons I'm proud to be a german (especially handy as it is easier to get to their inner meaning if you're in touch with their home base) : - )
You are proud to be a GERMAN, MANFRED? I'm proud to hear it! 'Amon Duul I & II -- FAUST -- OF COURSE 'CAN. 'GURU GURU,' SO MANY AND ALL ENDURING. I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT 'GRAUBLAU,' BUT ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE. 'KRAFTWORK I & 2' STARTED ME OFF, BUT FADED FAST TO OTHER BANDS. TAKE CARE FRIEND. TOM
I had this lost tapes set. The first disc got stuck in my friends CD player. When she finally got it out; I was too lazy to go back immediately. She lost it.... I consider it my fault.
Don't go in for all that. "Ahead of their time " shit. But I heard Tape Kebab. On the 1974 live peel sessions and that sounds like it was recorded in the not to distant future
Whoever recommended this "CAN" music to me in my e-mail: THANK YOU.THE INSULT YOU SPOKE OF, BUT WITH A DIFFERENT DESCRIPTION I MUST SAY IT WAS UNUSUALLY NICE TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE "SKIN PICCCOLO" PERSON.JUST A SCHMUCK. TOO MANY LATELY, TOM BURNS
Mir fällt keine Band ein, die nur annähernd so genial ist wie The Can

yeah Jaki the drummer was supposedly trained by one of the great classical percussionists of the 20th century
One of the best performance.
Recorded 43 years ago, released 4 months ago, sounds like it was recorded 30 years from now! Can never cease to amaze.
Sounds like a predecessor to Mother Sky
That was my immediate reaction as well. But Mother Sky is so bad-ass....
Tremendous - so ahead of their time.
Right on!
INCREIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my favorite from the album :)
Thanks, great. Wanna wake Up with that, thanks for Upload.
This is quite an incredible jam. Way ahead of it's time.. that opening riff is so heavy.
What a great band! Hope everybody's acquainted with Ege Bamyasi, Future Days, Tago Mago and more...
and SOUNDTRACKS for Mother Sky and She Brings the Rain alone (not to mention many other classix)
Lost tapes are rediscovered memories!
THNX, la Patatishvili ; )
in this land of grey and blue I could die there
Awesome
