I must have been living under a rock until you tube came along. Can. Captain Beef heart Tom Waits are just 3 acts I would never have dreamed of listening to. Tape Kebab is one of the best things I have ever heard
People new to CAN often name a couple of bands who “influenced them” until you point out that CAN came first. They are the mothers of a hundred bands in a hundred genres.
Funny story. I put this on as ambient music for my 7th graders as they wrote essays. Had to turn it off because after a while they were just zoned out. One noted how they felt "vertigo" as they listened. Definitely free-writing music, but essays...not so much.
same.. knew that piano riff sounded familiar, just haven't listened to lindstrom in ages so I forgot where from. CAN is so dope. knowing this was CAN just makes me appreciate them more!
This is so amazing!!!!!! I’ve needed to get my soul back for a while now, felt excessively dissociated and music is always, and forever, my way of coming back to life. Never heard of this song by Can until the other night, and my heart is beating in heaven with this mesmeric band. That guitar....so so so beautiful💕
I would dearly love to know why the Peels Sessions album hasn't been remastered and re-released with everything else. There is stuff (very good stuff) on there that cannot be heard anywhere else. And it's not just an "historical interest" type of thing. These are brilliant performances.
@MrMeddled - I don't feel the Mooney stuff has aged badly- Maybe it's personal taste- but there's some far reaching wide scoping material- from archives or from Monster Movie that is essential and just as timeless as any of Can's work- If anything aged a little poorly it was late later 70s Can- where they seemed to be more derivative of mainstream -relatively speaking- But even that material will be subject to review and greater respect in due time

It's also called november? I have only heard this song labeled "Mighty Girl," and this is the only recording I have heard. Are there others? It's a great song. Also check out my remix of this song if you have the time. it should be the 1st video under yours if you search "can mighty girl"
@MrMeddled Mooney stuff, aged? You are bullshitting to the fucking moon. Radiohead covered Thief not long ago and practically introduced a whole new generation to Can.
Why did that fool compare Can to The Beatles & Radiohead? - they have nothing in common. Why can't people just say they like something without shit-canning everything else? Musical taste is a personal thing.
@MrMeddled - Got to agree- Having musically grown with Can since just before mid 1970s- there was no way to take Radiohead seriously- This bunch give you a fucking good ear for poseurs- fakers and wannabes- And a good ear for the real thing
Hey why argue, all are great bands. IMHO some are greater. Will I ever put on a Britney Spears record, probably not. Will I play Opeth,Gong,Can,Gentle Giant,Faust,Camel,Slayer,Rush,Genesis,Dream Theater,Porcupine Tree,Oasis,Joni,Coltrane,Creme,Coleman,Dylan,Ghost,Pantera,Love,BEATLES,Yes,Moodies,Laura Nyro,Igor,Bach,Mozart---Hell Yes and many more.
I never listen to the two tracks from this session. Not sure about cheesy, just a bit dull by their usually very high standards. They sound like they were going through the motions, which is very unusual for them. The rest of the Peel Sessions CD is far better.

this stuff will never lost its magic.

Gorgeous piece from one of the best, most influential, and far-sighted groups of musicians of the last 100 years.
Thanks RUclips for bringing this back to me.
This has to be one of the best songs ever... I play it on repeat over and over...
CAN IS THE GREAT AND GREATER!!! Oh ye~ah ~ah ~ah...... You know!!!!!!!!
Funny story. I put this on as ambient music for my 7th graders as they wrote essays. Had to turn it off because after a while they were just zoned out. One noted how they felt "vertigo" as they listened. Definitely free-writing music, but essays...not so much.
haha, best teacher of the world goes to Dave.
Funny story,
The guy who got me into Can was named Dave.
Detroit Dave.
You're a cool teacher!
That's awesome to play Can for seventh graders. Especially this deep cut
Carlo Dave: Those kids' musical tastes were changed from that day forward!!
Beautiful... Try Can's Quantum Physics and Chain Reaction sometime... They'll want to become physicists.
'always thought this was Lindstrom..........this is fabulous! More people need to hear this!!
same.. knew that piano riff sounded familiar, just haven't listened to lindstrom in ages so I forgot where from. CAN is so dope. knowing this was CAN just makes me appreciate them more!

sublimely unique
saw them a few times in the 70's
never the same show
CAN it is!!!!!!!!
Germany and the world’s finest. Superb.

I agree this needs to happen
Maybe it already was remastered? It was made in 1995, so it would have at least been done with good technology.
One of their best performances. Absolute fuckin' work of art.
Geniuses!
Yeahhh great band.
Omg... This is amazing!
the whole session is ace
*Mighty Holger*
Bass & effects by Holger Tzukay. Irming guitar, Damo voice ecc.
Jaki is amazing!!!!
A very Irmin-driven track! Nice to hear this.
Yeahhh.
piano no less. that really worked. more rock & roll. cuts through the ambience with some pulse.
One of my ten favorite songs easily and that's pretty tough 'cause I'm very eclectic
The best, ever.
Que grupazaso... Buena rola...
Superb
There 's a great track called Mighty Girl by Lindstrom & Prince Thomas. It's based on this but i think it 's actually good as well
:)
good old can
awesome piece!
LINDSTROM!!!!
... tried to play it more than 30 years after this one!
Excellent. Ils ont eu du bol ceux qui ont assisté à çà
This isn't actually live, it was recorded in a BBC studio for broadcast by John Peel, not in front of an audience.
Agreed. John Peel session.
Also some guitar and synth seem overdubbed.
De esas canciones q te ponen hasta la madre...
geil ...........

Song of the Day
01-02-18: Mighty Girl (aka November) | Can
also on: www.onecuriousworld.com
кто подскажет при чём тут "Mighty Girl" - Могучая девушка? Про что музыка - я не в курсе...
hey, you are saying? I love Radiohead and Can, both bands are excellent, do not compare bands,
compare musical bands is like comparing two colors.

I love the later Can stuff
"Aaaand this juust feeeeels like ... spiiiinnniinngg plaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaates..."

Hello I try to find videos but instead all I get are videos of Mike Pence erotica, can you help???
It's on the album Out of Reach from 1978. Mighty girl would be an earlier version.
oh by the way, LIVE >.<
@MrMeddled Mooney stuff, aged? You are bullshitting to the fucking moon. Radiohead covered Thief not long ago and practically introduced a whole new generation to Can.
💘💐
Julian Cope big upped Can a good few year before la Radiohead.
Cope's album "Jehovhakill" positively stinks of Can.................................
Also, perhaps the most amazing album ever recorded. It is my favorite record, no contest.
"Precisely at dawn their ancient pyramids rise, shaped from oblique stones." Oh, sorry. I thought this was the Led Zep channel.
ha ergo

i do love can and this song but to be honest it is a bit cheesy compared to some of their other greats

Definitely needed a couple of cuts, parts of the track are a bit aimless, but they manage to find their footing.
