Hi, congrats for the vídeo. How do you compare the shift with the blade 100?. I am in 50s, and play with blade98 v8, now i need bit more power and easy play. Thanks.
Hello tan. How would you compare shift 99(300g) to prostaff 97L v14? I'm choosing between the two. I'm a club doubles player. I want maneuverability, spin, sweetspot, ease of use. Which do you prefer? Thanks
I think Shift 99 is more forgiving. PS97L is still a pro staff. Sweetspot is small and underpowered. Definitely need customization. But it's a great racket. So, if your game is based on heavy topspin, go for Shift. If you want an all-round control racket and you hit a one hander, simply go for PS97L.
I got the prototype version 315 18x20. I did not like this version, I'm hesitant to buy the retail version of this racket. I don't know why but I couldn't get any spin or any depth on my shots and the launch angle was very inconsistent and feel was muted for me. I tried different types of strings and different tensions. There was so much hype of this racket coming out. The shift was a bust for me coming from a Wilson Blade Pro V8 16x19. Weighted with strings of 336g.
Thanks for the review! QUESTIONS: Do these racquets play a bit softer than the RA would suggest? How do they compare with Wilson Pro Staffs in terms of stiffness? Call me 'old school' but I find many of the so-called 'modern' racquets to be a bit too stiff for my taste. Any thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated.
Overall I think Shift is better if your game relies on spin and you have modern swing. Speed MP is an all-round frame but I think the stringbed is a bit erratic on some shots.
Many of the reviews say that the sweet spot is small on the Shift, but is it small in comparison to a 100 inch frame or a 98 - as it sits inbetween both. Also as someone who uses an Ezone 98 how do you compare the Shift against it ?
I think small compared to 100 for sure. Compared to 98 it depends. Of course much easier to hit with than Blade 98. I think it is pretty similar to Pure Aero 98 in many ways. Compared to Ezone 98, Shift has higher launch angle and spin. Power level is close to each other or Shift slightly higher. Control I think Ezone is more accurate. Shift feels like something I would go for big target.
I really like the Shift on my forehand and serves. But Whiteout 18x20 is more balance. It’s like 7/10 on every aspects. It’s more likely that I would go in a match with a Whiteout 18x20 because my backhand is more solid and consistent. My forehand level could drop a bit but I can find a way.
I recommend the light version. Actually, the Shift is not an total easy racket tho, it has relatively small sweetspot and it requires racket headspeed so light version could do acceleration better for female player.
Thanks! First of all I think Pure Aero 2023 is not that stiff compared to older gen Babolat or even current Pure Drive. Could it give tennis elbow? Yes, it’s a firm racket but you can pick softer string to counter that. Accuracy on the racket I think pretty good. It’s a more control version of a Pure Aero.
Yes, absolutely. I think the best one is ReString Zero at around 48 lbs. Super crazy spin like I have never seen. Hyper G of course at around 48-50 lbs. Confidential is also ok at around 46-48 lbs, unexpectedly.
@@tantennisthanks a lot! Hard to find Restring zero here in Italy😢 (restring website just ship to Canada and US). Hyper g soft or standard? 1.20 or 1.25? Thanks 😊
Beam is different. This one is more round. Steam is firmer and has classic feel. Shift is more modern with weird flex on spin and I think I can get more spin with Shift.
@@tantennis i am still using blade 98s 18x16 2015 Version 5 strung with 4G. All these years few models made me consider switch but at the end didn’t do it. Models such as: strike gen 2 aka project one, yonex dr98, pure aero VS (I hated new 98), Speed MP graphene (before the 360) and pro staff version 11 (black and red lines).
@@tantennis it has a thick mold, my demo was not so fast through the air as the specs suggest and feel was kinda muted. I even prefer clash’s feel. It lacks power on defence and it can be unpredictable. This racquet has a crisis identity. Seriously if anyone wants a spin machine just get an aero and call it a day. Shift didn’t reward a single part of my game. It tries to be good at everything and it’s a big let down. At least for my game. The best tweener frame from Wilson is ultra v4 which is an amazing racquet with great connected and predictable feel.
How does Shift 99 compare to Yonex Percept 100D?

@@tantennis how about in terms of maneuverability? Which is more faster? Because I'm a doubles player, need to react fast on net. Thanks
@@elmotabuzo I think at the net PS97L is faster. Net game and touch is also superior.

I also don’t like the 315 version. Just can’t play with it. Got lower launch angle and hitting flat just don’t work.
awesome forehand, looks very powerful
Thanks!
What is your usual racquet of choice? It's very handy to know when listening to reviews what is your normal comfort zone.
Now it's Blade 98

I think it feels like what the paper said at 67RA. Stiffness not far from PS97 I believe.

Do you prefer solinco whiteout 18x20 or wilson shift ? Thank you
For my game, I prefer Whiteout 18x20 mainly due to a more solid backhand and control overall.
How does it compare to gravity mp? Thanks
In one sentence it is a super spin frame vs just a bit spin frame.
Compared to lab is there any huge upgrade?
Small differences
How would you compare the Shift v1 300g to your Solinco Whiteout 18x20? Could it be a possible switch for you?
I was wondering the same thing…

Do you recommend the lighter version or standard for a 3.0 female player? I am 44 years old, 5 foot 8, and 140 pounds. I play around twice a week.

I’m a Blade user so I go with Blade

What tension did you string at for the Zero? Is it 123 gauge? I'm about to test the Zero in my Shift as well :)
47 lbs and yes it’s a 1.23 gauge
I strung it last night 46/44, let's see how it plays.@@tantennis
