- Train watching at the Elkhart Indiana Amtrak Station CP 421 over different days in 1990.See and assortment of Conrail Trains including ELFW Elkhart to Fort Wayne with and engine on both ends.
Love the old Elkhart real footage with the old configurations of track thanks for sharing
Appreciate seeing the whole train. We don't have nearly enough footage of freight cars from the 90's.
As the song ‘stressed out’ would say: “wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days...”
Great video. Sure miss Conrail. Nothing like clean freight cars with no graffiti.
Please Bring Back More Conrail Classics
Was in high school at this time (Nappanee) but lived close to this line and my family often stopped at this station on Sundays. Even got to go up into a couple of engines of EBs that waited on track 3 which was a thrill for a teen. We became friends with Nancy the agent (who sometimes worked SB too and that was back when South Shore departed where the Amshack was). Really miss these NYC signals now that NS has changed the alignment and reduced the number of tracks crossing Main St. Thanks for the memories!
Enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing!
The good 'ol days of 4 axle powered TOFC/stack trains. Please post all that you have. Subscribed.
Thanks so much.More to come.

Oh to have seen the Conrail GE standard cabs.
Great stuff, really enjoy
Glad you enjoy it!
your videos are excellent thank you for sharing!
Glad you like them!
Tracks that split off to the left are Elkhart Railroad tracks a small short line. Other than that grew up watching these trains over in Osceola when I was young.
Interesting how American Presidents Lines APL was one of UP and Conrails biggest customer in the 1990s
Awesome video! I would like to see more of this historical footage!
Thanks so much.More to come.Sad to think I may be the only one with some of this stuff but that is what some are saying.
The point where this video is showing the main streets crossing when I was a kid there was a derailment right there. A trin loaded with steel billets took the turn too fast. A few more yards and it would have hit the Train Station. Watched them pick up the cars, and steel. My dad was a railroader then.
Would love to see one for the Claypool and Goshen Area.
After the CP 421 (Elkhart) Track realignment all the old Signs were removed including the NYC signal bridge. As well as the 2 mains close adjacent to the station
It looks so different now. Miss those NYC era signals.
I really like seeing the freight cars times sure have changed.
1:00:18 GO HOME JAPAN on that CR Box Car was the sentiment from that era lol
Nice with oid Rolling stock on their back in day !!
Thanks so much.Never realized when I shot this how cool it would be some day to look back.
...and no graffiti!! I love it.
Train 3 is SFSE With a Block for Conway Yard b
The Locomotive on Both Ends was FWEL AND ELFW
But then later changed to FP to avoid confusion with some Fort Worth train.
@@michianamainlines3538 Could Said FTWI that would have sound better or Even FWI that what my Foster Dad Charlie always Called it then UP Guys could on their Trains of FWT
Did they, and why move the mains away from the depot .?
What was the sticker on the front of the firsttrain?
The big railroad today. Just don't care about the customer's no more. All they care about money.
