Put old used tires underneath the water barrels so they have a soft cushion
For the fix for the barrels, you need a “bump stop” like a vehicle. Need a rubber piece that can absorb the weight instead of the barrels
That and a cross beam, I'm going across.
The sides of the barrel are underneath how you have one beam.We need to go in the opposite way

The platform for the barrels should be at a slight slope upwards so that way as it comes down the land at the same time

You should buy an underwater aerator. Kind of like they use at diving events. Soften that water landing.
Fill the counter weights with concrete it’ll be heavier and a solid mass so should create more speed on the lift
Add a big square plate that covers the bottom of all 4 barrels!!
