'Remember me?' Very relevant lyrics, as these iconic locomotives have now been fully phased out of the great western line! We are left with nostalgia now, as these trains were a part of my childhood and I loved seeing and hearing them growing up.
I love this video. Theres just something about the roar of a HST hammering it past at 125mph. Shame their days are numbered. I cant get over the fact that these things were only designed to be a stop gap between the APT. 35 years on and theyre still wizzing across the UK.
Didn't think it worked well at first, but it grew on me. Well done. It's pretty artistic and music often does work well on train/plane vids. We'll always remember the Valenta ;)
Nice music, excellent. People making negative comments about the music on this vid need to learn that it's possible to make a video like this to be enjoyable in its own right, and I think the music adds to the atmosphere. If you want to hear Valenta engines (and why wouldn't you?) then there are LOADS of vids that have them on - the uploader tried to do something a bit different here and IMO it's a good effect.
From what I recall its 110 mph through the station. a mile either side of the station is 125 mph. Music could be done with getting rid of. Other than that nice vid :)
Very good film, by the way ews66199 has got it right, the linespeed through didcot parkway on those platforms is 125mph (i should know, i drive them through there!!)
Love it. I stand there on the way to work. I sometimes think "If that went wrong, it woul de quite a mess" When you stand there it's the huge amount of energy that is evident!
i usually hate music on train clips but this adds a bit of lighthearted fun and coolness to the video. otherwise i'd just be nostalgic and depressed at the current lack of valentas on the system nowadays. it also means you can throw this on if you're sitting with friends or family who aren't into railways. totally works for me.
Didn't mind the music, liked the video. I lived in South Wales when the 125s were introduced and, although I saw plenty of them and had been on quite a few, I didn't actually see one doing 125mph until I went for an interview near Hitchin. I can remember being unable to comprehend how fast the thing was going - apparently it's a recognised phenomenon which has been used to explain why people get hit crossing tracks - in nature, big things don't move that quickly!
Having entered regular service in 1977, that's 30 years ago, high speed train services have not really advanced that much in the UK have they? I love these trains, I used them in South Wales right from the start.
This video is to show off the speed of these amazing trains! The music is awesome! Actually this is my favorite artists (Basement Jaxx btw) so I was quote happy about it... Awesome!
Nice video. Shame everyone is complaining about the music. I like it and I think it goes well with the video. Shame I cant remember who it was by... ;)
The music absolutely made this vid for me and is the reason I not only watched it all the way, but watched it a number of times. Rather than just documenting BASHIN AND THRASHIN as most of the other commenters clearly want, it serves as a fitting tribute both to the HSTs and to FGW who have recently refurbished them and continue to service them.
lol when I heard the music in I was like: "NOOOO...You gotta be joking" What was he thinking. Its like serving up a roast dinner and garnishing it with a turd
the london to bristol line via swindon is fine and decent speed but london to newquay goes a different route is and far far slower so its not bollocks at all, it goes via newbury and westbury etc, what we call going via the desert
Hi there! Great intro BUT HSTs make a kind of music that no human composer could begin to imitate. Long live the people who develop these mechanical monsters. Music (ordinary music) is definitely not needed. I stopped watching this video at 1:30 coz I knew the background music wasn’t going to stop. Constructive criticism only. Keep posting HSTs coz I love them [have done for the past 30+ years]
Great Video, Great production I watch this film 10 Times and like much, I am also a fan of these GWR trains, and I would like to once in didcot's there to shoot them
Yes. Get rid of the music. The real experience involves being aware of the vibration in the platform before you even see it and then feeling the pressure build up before the noise and shockwave hits you. Incredibly thrilling! This vid is spoilt by the music.
Oh christ this is what I'm going to be hearing every 15 minutes if the government decide to destroy the countryside and whack HS2 in the middle of my village.
lol thats bollocks... I travel from Bristol temple meads to london paddington every morning and back again at night... takes me 1 hour 30 minutes usually which would take 5 hours in the car... first great western are great, least they can stay on the tracks unlike NXEC... going bankrupt after 2 years... terrible, now the line is being kept going by our money, the taxpayers money. disgrace.
I watched this video hoping to hear the roars of the legendary 125 bombing it along the tracks but I was dissappointed to have the great engine sounds spoilt by the tune. My mrs calls me a sad train spotter, bus geek whatever bla bla, but she cheated on me with a fat ugly wanker so I don't care what she thinks. I like the tune but I can watch the video of "remember me" when I want to soCan you re-edit without the track and repost cos right now I just want to be a sad train spotter bus geek Thx!

Putting a music track on this is like banging dustbin lids together during a Mozart aria.

Agh, that intercom jingle and the old announcer voice take me back. Too bad all this is being changed/removed :(
the fastest diesel train in the world epic sound.
Excellent ❤️❤️❤️

This song is a tune
I just love 1.05!
AWSOME vid mate great editing and music suites it really well :D defiantly 5* .
class. its impossible to read a book while sitting on those platforms with these going through every 10 mins, they're more than entertaining enough.
Very good film, by the way ews66199 has got it right, the linespeed through didcot parkway on those platforms is 125mph (i should know, i drive them through there!!)

great video. Anyone know any other good locations to film HSTs going full speed?
Maidenhead
Music : Remember me - Blueboy
i usually hate music on train clips but this adds a bit of lighthearted fun and coolness to the video. otherwise i'd just be nostalgic and depressed at the current lack of valentas on the system nowadays. it also means you can throw this on if you're sitting with friends or family who aren't into railways. totally works for me.
Those were the days, when BR operated more services scheduled to run at more than 100mph, than other countries' railway, and in comfort too.
Didn't mind the music, liked the video. lets hear the Valenta symphony and the MTU concerto :D
The music makes it better!!
i usually hate music on these videos - but this seems to lighten the mood, it works - somehow! i will alwways remember hst's!
Having entered regular service in 1977, that's 30 years ago, high speed train services have not really advanced that much in the UK have they? I love these trains, I used them in South Wales right from the start.
Music's by "Blue boy" 1997 hit.
They go faster than I thought (Looking at it).
This video is to show off the speed of these amazing trains! The music is awesome! Actually this is my favorite artists (Basement Jaxx btw) so I was quote happy about it... Awesome!
yeah like the song too
I'm with others - sorry the music completely spoils it. What more music could be fitting than those of the trains themselves?
@DiamondGina Nah the musics been added after, HSTs don't play crap music in real life so your safe!
16 cylinder MTU is what we need, Nice thud thud thud bass line from a distance,
Nice video. Shame everyone is complaining about the music. I like it and I think it goes well with the video. Shame I cant remember who it was by... ;)
Music spoils this entirely, I think most people want to hear the scream, that's the whole point of Valentas!
The music adds a bit of charm to it i must admit.
Both the Spanish and Russian were unnofficial (claimed by the manufacturers), the HST with Valenta engines still holds the official record..
at 2:2o the platform is no level why is that?
why is there music playing !!!!!!!!!
lol when I heard the music in I was like:
"NOOOO...You gotta be joking"
What was he thinking. Its like serving up a roast dinner and garnishing it with a turd
The ONLY DECENT Diesel MOTIVE POWER left on the Railways. These things ARE STILL WORLD class, and they're gonna KILL 'EM? :'-(
great vid keep em comin :)
LOL. I see returning to this vid a ad appeared on the vid with the headline "the best meal ever"
I hope that wasn't based on my comment :-/
Who sang that song am tryin 2find it on utube lol ;^1) xxxx
@TheDezzRezz250
Except they aren't Valentas anymore :+(
the london to bristol line via swindon is fine and decent speed but london to newquay goes a different route is and far far slower so its not bollocks at all, it goes via newbury and westbury etc, what we call going via the desert
Pedant alert, those trains are on platforms 1&2 plaform 4 is the slow trains to london...
Music does not belong here (the sweeter music belongs to the machines)
nice music mate!

HST's what passing Didcot? Ah, you mean 'HSTs'...
Didcot Parkway?? I LOVE the CLASS 43 HST !!!!
Is that Percy pottering down the branch line? Peep, peep!

Nuhin like british speed

Great Video, Great production I watch this film 10 Times and like much,
I am also a fan of these GWR trains, and I would like to once in didcot's there to shoot them
@DiamondGina nah you won't see these running on HS2
video ruined by music, should have just left it to hear the engines
Yes. Get rid of the music. The real experience involves being aware of the vibration in the platform before you even see it and then feeling the pressure build up before the noise and shockwave hits you. Incredibly thrilling! This vid is spoilt by the music.
Would have been a good video without the honga bonga music
Terrible music, but great video. Would love to be able to hear the Valenta's scream by instead of the hip hop.
this video would be pretty stale without the music
exactly.
First Great Western FTW :D
Great film, pity about the music
Whoops - tee hee! My only comeback is that your first full stop should be within the inverted commas.....
But perhaps we should stop....?
Oh christ this is what I'm going to be hearing every 15 minutes if the government decide to destroy the countryside and whack HS2 in the middle of my village.
Marked down for the unnecessary music.
wth take the music off
Good compilation of clips but the music ruins it.
Very nice video, look at the lucky bird at 3:33
music kills the video
This is one time that an MTU engine would sound better....
Shame the music totally ruins the video!
Good music :0)
the music is unnecessary
sorry at 0:30
it is 125!!!!! my uncle used to drive them
Not 125 I can assure you
songs fine you old miseries :-)
Music completely ruins it!!
wait your right..blue boy...on the same mix haha. ;)
I agree, music bad, video good.
lol thats bollocks... Let the Paxmans sing their own song. Fantastic photography spoilt completely by the horrible and completely unnescessary background music.
why the crap music,as bad as tv!
I watched this video hoping to hear the roars of the legendary 125 bombing it along the tracks but I was dissappointed to have the great engine sounds spoilt by the tune.
