- We take a tour of an important site on the island of Nuku Hiva. Kamuihei is the port of call for ancient Marquesans as they set out on journeys across the pacific in search of the treasured red feather.
Aniata Kimitete leads us through the different areas of the Kamuihei site.

Polynesian music and percussion are very intricate, very beautiful, very interesting, very enchanting, and very fascinating.
That Aniata K. Of Marquesas Islands is one fine Lady, and very articulate; saw her also on episode of 'Ancient Aliens from History Channel from June 2018'. Looks much the same . Reminds me of my Native American roots here in Virginia . Don't know if I will ever get to French Polynesians islands . But I would like to meet you (smile) WoodinVirginia
Saludos desde Guatemala , corazón del mundo MAYA y país de la eterna primavera , por medio del programa alienígenas ancestrales me he enterado de su cultura , muy interesente👌😷
it was a highly stratified society with very specific roles to honor and hold, as in the canoes.

We called it "Tuitui" (Atiu, Cook Islands)

Kukui nuts! AKA candlenut
Rezanov was sent off to try to talk to the Japanese and open trade with them), their ships landed on an island they called "Nukakhiva", where the women happily swam out and (encouraged by their men, though I get the impression not necessarily coerced?) had sex with the sailors (while swimming in the ocean!) in exchange for various doodads. Reportedly, they were a very openly sexual society...
Apparently I was wrong, as Nuka Hiva is in the Marquesas Islands, whereas Mangaia is in the Cook Islands.
