I think MK unconsciously sees Wukong as his father and cares about him as if he were his own life, but he may not be able to accept it because he has never had a family all this time and partly because he is his mentor.
By the way, I noticed something, even when Azure was attacking Wukong's scroll with his sword, Wukong protected MK because if MK had not had the scroll in front of him at that time, MK would have been seriously injured.
I'm seriously watching this series just because of these two.
Dude honestly MK's existence is kinda sad.He's created to be a tool,a means to an end by something greater beyond his understanding and doesn't even have a proper family.He doesn't even get to call the guy who took him in & took care of him his father.Like we even got this thing of MK thinking he's replaceable by some robot.Then there's the thing you mentioned about Wukong.And in this series,his trust in mentor/parental figures has been broke TWICE.The second one,obviously Azure Lion posing himself as his uncle.While with Macaque...he was betrayed thrice.First he posed as someone who gave hope to him to actually train him better than Wukong,second as the storyteller who seem to give him cautionary tales (when he's basically projecting & messing with his feelings) and third by pretending to be Wukong that resulted in him venting all of his heart's content to someone who's about to attack him.Several episodes later,he got terrorised by an incorporeal demon that gets inside his head.
Like bruh.No wonder he feels all alone.And sometimes I wonder if he's like,seeking approval from people that he think can be a parental figure.
The bond between MK and wukong is one of the highlights of Lego Monkie Kid and one of the main reasons why I LOVE this show!!! Would like to see more. Bet it's been a long time since Nez Ha had seen wukong this protective of someone, since Tripitaka. Wukong also seems like a first time parent. Nobody gets it right the first time. But as you explained in the Macaque "your heart's in the right place" so Wukong I would say you're doing a pretty good job. You care about and love Mk. That's all that matters

I do like to think they are related in some way. Maybe they are. I wouldn't call Wukong pathetic for being 'scared of hurting some kid' it's nice to see he cares about someone. Monkeys carry their children in their arms or on their shoulders? Kinda think wukong really liked having mk piggy back on his shoulders.

18:18 I'm just gonna say it: a little hypocritical of Mei to get mad at Wukong for not having a "real plan" when her whole thing has been rushing into battle without much forethought. Tang says things like "perhaps we aren't ready, we might be clumsy and kind of figuring things out as we go but it's worked out for us so far" in Season 4 and everyone in that group agrees, but Wukong has the exact same philosophy about his own plans and suddenly Mei's against it. She's being inconsistent, and I get she was going through a hard time in the moment, but it still bothers me a bit since I don't think the show has acknowledged that fact.
in her defense she’s literally being burned alive because of wukongs choice so i do think it would fuck with her mind a bit and cause her to search for a scapegoat to blame her problems on. plus even if she and wukong have the same problem with impulsiveness, she’s still ultimately right to call him out on it, even if she’s being a hypocrite abt it in the process. tldr girl was having a rough night
Well Mei despite her happy go lucky thing, she already has a plan to get out of situations. I mean when we first meet her and Mk tells her about Red Sun what’s her next move after realizing it’s not tag? To blow the fire haired demon sky high. Despite not having feelings she genuinely cares for the people in her friend circle and family and will always try to protect them when she can.
@@cyndaquil1433 I think the people above you are right.Even the example that you give here is pretty similar to Wukong's mentality to bash anything threatening with his murder stick.I think it's even comparable to how you can enrage Wukong by threatening any of his friends in the book.
