Very rewarding listening - thank you so much - and if Tony happens to be reading this - sorry mate, that frying pan you wanted to buy is not for sale - I still need it for the "full English" ! How lucky are we that this stuff survives !
Wonderful pub for jazz. I was there as a student at Sheffield U from 65-68. Heard Gavin and Tony many times on Sunday afternoons along with Barry Whitworth amongst others
really great!! does anyone know of any other early bailey recordings that are available online? I've been looking around, but this is as early as i've found.
think it's out of print, although copies do show up on Discogs. unfortunately the CD only contains this one track! www.discogs.com/Joseph-Holbrooke-65-Rehearsal-Extract-10-26/release/1250096

@@ravemustaine nice, thanks for the info. I got here through Bailey's book ,where he talks about this group. We can hear a lot of what theytalk about in the book in this recording, the spaces, kind of solos and interplay. 😊
let's hear it for bryars and oxley as well ☺

Just more electric guitar bs. It's not a jazz instrument; it's very limited in tone and attack.
