You can really hear how PE Foam modifies the sound of a board here, but if you listen with headphones you'll still hear the subtle differences between all the switches.
My favorite smooth thocky switch right now is TTC Venus or Gateron Zero Degrees, the latter being a 'quiet but not silent' so-called silent switch which isn't silent but has a great low pitched sound. Both these switches use rail sliders maybe that's what helps them feel so smooth.
another banger video, your channel and store have become essential resources. would love a video comparing just keygeek switches like you did for akko huano and hmx if possible 🙏🏼
There are so many switches, isn't it all biased? I don't think an objective "best" list exists. Morandis have some of the worst stem wobble I've tried for a modern switch and they make every list.
@andreibelittchenko5956 there is a biast trend in the community around a few specific switches (ex: these/xinhais/morandis/etc) that I just don't get. I've tried them all and have never been wowed
@@andreibelittchenko5956 That stem wobble on the morandis is the only reason why I sold them. Even after filming with .3mm films they are just too wobbly to enjoy. Now the aqua kings have fantastic factory lube and their tolerances are so tight that is kinda feels like they are lubed and filmed, so they are definitely better than morandis imho.

Aqua Kings are one of the more scratchier switches and shouldn't even be on the same list as the oil kings, considering how much smoother the other switches are. You can even hear the scratchiness in the sound test.
I have the Akko Rosewoods (I found they were a little scratchy until you lubbed them further) My personal favourite is between gatetron milky yellows (sounds amazing stock if you like a more muted sound) or the MMD Matcha V3’s if you can bother to lube them all as the stock lubing leaves a little to be desired Note they are all linear as you’re going to struggle to get cream/thock in most tactile switches
@@duytran4661 I read and understand the title. What I mean is, foam tends to make things sound similar and imparts a "sound". Creamy sound or not, foam will influence things, making it seem odd to use in comparisons between switches, and other tests. And to be clear, I'm not "anti-foam", I have some foam in some of my keyboards, but to work out the sound of a switch it seems best to remove other influences
@@duytran4661 Yerda is right, it's kind of pointless to show a sound test comparison while using the plate and PE foam. It's going to make the switches sound basically identical and you won't get a proper comparison.

I’ve used PE foam on the Sakura switches, and they end up becoming a bit too creamy. PE foam also has the tendency to make a lot of switches sound similar (more so than other foams).
Great review as usual. Definitely want to give a try to these Aqua Kings. I stuck with the safe and nice Gateron Pro 3 Yellow which I love. I wonder how better (or not?) would other linears feel.

This video is unironically a pretty decent clip to cite as the reason not to use PE foam. The back-to-back sound tests at the end are almost funny.
As always incredible content. Great switches too especially the Sakuras
