Many years ago, we were doing the West Highland Way. Having a pint on the Bridge over the Orchy at the hotel. The Sun started to go down, the midges came out to play, and suddenly all you could hear was swearing and people flapping their arms about. Felt quite sorry for the people camped by the river.
@@engineeredlifeform I was an extra in Monarch of The Glen. Never had a problem with the midgies around the loch, or up at the house, but I have memories of being shuttled through the woods to the accompanying screams of "shut the f'''''g windows"
@@engineeredlifeform we camped by the river behind that hotel one time we climbed Ben Dorain. In the morning, I sauntered out of the tent in a totally, "La la la, I'm in the countryside, life is beautiful" manner and I got about five steps from the tent before I was just engulfed, exactly like this trailer! Bolted back into the tent quicker than I've ever run in my life.
All the characters must die in this film, because there is no running from midgies, no hiding from midgies and no protection on Earth can stop them. Coming from the one of the Western Isles, I speak from experience.
@@knicknac95 oh shit and as a South Mississippi native who used to live near the leaf river I can say that the idea of cold weather mosquitoes is very concerning
@@knicknac95 But so much worse. You may get one or two mosquito bites in a night and not even notice, midges don't stop. They never stop. You can try and run away, they'll follow you... The horror...
It’s all true. As a native Scotsman I speak from experience. They’re smaller than mosquitoes yet you can literally see clouds of them when they gather together. They'll eat you alive!
Looks like the guy at the end torching the midges is based on Robert Hoon! Looks absolutely ridiculously funny, and I'm so glad the Scottish couple are talking slang too, makes it more authentic and funnier. Loved the trailer can't wait for the full Midge experience!! Well done Barry & Alessio and congratulations on your first movie together 🎉 Sharing this now 😃👌🏼
I've not been to a cinema in 20 years, but this playing would get me there!! Such a brilliant vibe from this trailer, makes me excited for the dark comedy genre again!!
As a tourist that spent his honeymoon camping in the highlands in the middle of August, I have a personal relation to this teaser in the funniest and best way possible. Can confirm, midgies are terrifying.
With Barry at the writing helm, you know it's going to be hilarious and frightening at the same time. I hope it comes to the US, at least on streaming! This trailer is brilliant.
Great - looking forward to the full movie being made. The trailer reminded me of the trailer for Aussie movie 'Black Sheep' - need to watch that again ...
Lol, it's giving me PTSD flashbacks of the last time I stayed in Scotland, urrrrrrr, the horror. At least the characters in this film die so they don't have to put up with the itching.
Summer 2023 I took my kids up to the top of the Cairngorms to do some tubing on the slopes and it was horrific!!! My parents wouldn't leave the car, my wife got bit to buggery, thankfully they don't like my blood so I escaped unscathed and the kids didn't give a shit as they were having a blast on the slopes. Those midgies though will forever live in my memories. It was insane.
Absolutely brilliant!😂 ...a word of warning for any African tourists heading to Scotland - Midges can fly through a mosquito net! (learnt the hard way)😅
I am South African, living in Ireland. I learned the hard way that midges here BITE, where in Africa they are just....there. Quickly bought myself a midge head net after standing in a swarm of them while trying to take pictures of the moon! Hahaha!
I am Japanese living in Scotland for a while. We have nasty mosquito back in Japan but the midges and horseflies in Scotland!!!! They are evil! I never forget an English female walker's face when we bumped into her on the Isle of Harris Eagle Observatory Walk. Her face and neck were absolutely covered with tiny red dots all over. I offered her my Smidge spray but she said no. She looked like she had a worst case of chickenpox ever...
@@studiomythic Yes. She told me it's too late to use it. But her eyes were red and very teary...I wonder til this day if she is still alive or not....😂
Perfect timing, they're so bad this year in our area that my wife won't take the dogs out. I have to show her this, it's priceless, can't wait to see it.
We call those "no-see-ums" in America, notoriously nasty in the spring months up in Maine and New Hampshire and such. They can come through window screens. Horrible things, excellent subject for a horror movie!
You've seen the trailer now watch the behind the scenes podcast with the team behind Midgies. ruclips.net/user/livePD_yURH9rCU?si=t9bU9oRUaZ8ibo2K
The best line? Oh, he's not deaf; he's just English. Poor thing. LOL
😂😂😂
Emotional damage!
as an english man. i agree 🥲😂
Ah so they did make a documentary about the last time I was in Scotland.
Hahahahaha

Peed myself when she squirts that bit of repellent on his hand at the end.....brilliant comic timing!!
Once again Barry Hutchison has produced a superb, humorous storyline. This will be a must watch.
Can’t believe the writer of Space Team has done a movie!!!

Are midgies supposed to be like some kinda fairies or something
@KevinBufkin-f8e Think of mosquitos that THRIVE in cold weather climates.

Audiences will swarm to this movie!
Brilliant! I support any film made in Scotland and this one about the scourge of being outdoors in Scotland looks good. Hope it does really well.
Pure **buzzing** for this
I’m itching to see it .hope it’s up to scratch .
I don't really go for a lot of horror films, but this premise has gotten me a midge curious
Saw a sign on the English border inviting visitors to Scotland and some wag had added in marker "Warning: Midge alert for next 400 miles."
They have them too - beware the Yorkshire Dales. Lovely pubs with lovely beer gardens.........
What an absolute ledge!!!
I absolutely love your sense of humor. I hope you get this movie made, it couldn’t be any worse than any of the other movies that are being made.
Love Barry Hutchison books; Logan, Hoon, Filson and Space Team so I don't doubt this will be a fantastic film! Always hilarious.
Essential viewing. Can't wait for the release.
Yup, I laughed out loud. Hope the full film delivers on the promise of the trailer. 😀
Too funny! Has me itching & twitching already. Can't wait for the full feature. Let's get filming!
I have a feeling this movie is heading straight to my all-time favorites list 😁

That one is so funny. It freaked me right out, too.
Black Sheep's a New Zealand film, they won't like you attributing it to us. 😂 but it's freaking great, and this trailer did give off that vibe

Love the Flamethrower! 😂😂 Overkill much?! 😂🔥🪰
it was a fairly big swarm, more like not enough
@ScottReid1980 yeah, I'd say 6 on the go all at once would do the trick
What I mean is - a flamethrower to kill midgies 😂 It’s part of the comedy aspect of the film 😁🎥
I think if you're Scottish, it's not too far off the mark...lol.
This looks amazing!!! Can't wait for the movie!
Can't wait to see the movie
This looks so good! 😂 👏
Haha Barry bloody thats awesome!! I really cant wait for the full movie!
Really hope this gets made, looks fantastic!
This was shot like a proper Holywood movie. Color me impressed.
Liking these characters. Wonder what the rest will be like
This looks incredible. Can't wait. Well done Alessio and team!
Brilliance ... overshadowed by ... well ... a cacophony of killer MIDGIES! ;-)
As a Scot i can confirm this is what we have to go thru on the daily 😢
Love these characters. Need to see more of them (if they survive of course!)
These visuals look stunning! Matched with that humour too! Oh gosh this will be a must watch for sure! 👏
What a great trailer! Funny and intriguing in its own right without giving too much away.

I'm kinda thinking Shaun of the dead,,but zombie midgies 😅
I’m so excited to see this. Funny Scottish folk written right!
Thank you!
I saw the prequel live in Klamath Falls. Hungry little buggers, bats with distended bellies.
This looks class!
I'm impressed bollockd we call them that here
Where is that you are from?
Loved the hand sanitizer scene at the end😂
‘I am very excite’ 😁
I, too, am very excite.

Great. Having lived in Argyll for years it's so true😂😂😂
Loved the trailer. 😂
Me too..!!!!
I complained about Scotland being so windy until one day it wasn't ..
I would love it if the elderly couple are secretly the only survivors/the real heroes of the movie.
If the Loch Ness Monster disnae make a cameo appearance, I'm nae watching it. The noo.
I’m from Scotland west coast &
I can confirm I go through this kind of midgie apocalypse just to get my washing in off the line 😂

Right.. so when preparing to visit Scotland, wear a hazmat suit. Gotcha.
I'm going on Monday very worried now.
