MASSIVE Old 95,000LB V8 Wheel Loader - How Will it Start & Operate?

  • Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
  • In this video, I went to look at this huge Caterpillar 988B Wheel Loader. When I arrived, there was another complete loader which I also found out will it start and how will it run. I also got to looking at another non complete third Cat 988b machine that looked to be sitting for years as parts only. These machines are a bit big for the owners current use so they are going to be sold and replaced with a smaller cat loader. Thanks for watching.

Nice seeing one of these .
I worked as a fitter in a quarry in the uk .
The guy who ran the stone crushing plant went sick so I got sent over to run it for a few hours .
It was a one man operation medium sized CAT shovel .
I broke that nothing major burst pipe .
So we borrowed the machine you have there from quarry over the lane .
No problem it was just big .
Next day boss says there’s a bloke coming to do your driving test .
Oh yes I say . He says yes it will do you good haha
So took my loading shovel test in one like that and passed with honors …….
    I didn’t run him over .
Did that “ temp job” for 6. Months enjoyed it too .

When you enter the toe of the pile… go in about 1/8th bucket and lift straight up and don’t curl yet. This squishes weight onto your front tires. Hit your dif lock and downshift if equipped. Then power into the pile while curling slowly and lifting at the same time. Sticky material may require a quick tilt forward and then back to get a full scoop but majority of materials will full load in my initial description. As long as the loader is healthy and functioning properly that is.

She has an exhaust leak, this means the turbo is not producing the correct amount of boost. Probably 20psi. But now down to half that amount producing ¼ less horsepower than when new. With a new manifold gasket she will take massive bucket fulls. She will last much longer than full boost but drink the same amount of fuel. Since she also has a leak on the injector she is using slightly less fuel maybe.

Morning Jack, in that application I made up and old gear pump with a metal fire extinguisher as a tank. I mix tectyl 50% and low odour fisholene 50%. Going through the gear pump for and hour so, the friction gets the mix hot. I then have pressure on a wand with a garden sprinkler on a small hard plastic line. The sprinkler end allows a 360 degree mist which comes out almost like water, but sets almost like bees wax. This small hard plastic line is great everywhere from inside roof gutters right through to bottom of inside of doors and rear mudguards on land cruisers, inside chassis rails ect. Over the years with old 4wds I have found that as good as anything.
