Matt has definitely come into his own over the last few years. He's become more then just rider. He's become a ambassador of the sport. Love that Ben is getting some light shined on him also. He definitely is huge part of Matt's success and a gem of a human. Good job fellas. Also the new frame is sick.
My brother is what kind of out the idea of mountain biking in my brain last year and then I started researching and watching videos and stumbled across Matt’s channel and from there I went to my local shop and got my first Marin and I haven’t looked back yet. Thank you to both Matt and Marin for giving me such a fun outlet to escape. Forever grateful!
Great story. Glad to see a Long version so I can finally get an Alcatraz. Being over 6'1 with size 12.5 feet, short bikes and bar spins or x-ups don't exactly jive too well. Through our local Marin rider, Scott Thornhill, we've seen the bike take a harsh beating and been incredibly impressed by how tough the Alcatraz is while being amongst the lightest DJ frames out there
Thanks so much! Yeah this frame has been such a huge part of my career and the abuse I’ve given it has been insane but I’ve achieved so much riding this jump bike. It’s so sick to launch the latest version
Matt Jones is sooo good. Soo positive...always encouraging and when he's hurt his doesn't push through he takes care of himself which is another great message for his fans.
Yes yes Matt. Dam what an awesome vid you guys have put together. Watched Matt for years and loved hearing the story told this way. Thank you to all involved.
Such a awesome video, i was expecting a more of a ad for the new bike, but it was more a behind the scenes/ q and a with matt, which was awesome. the bike looks excellent aswell, so glad you have brought out a long frame size.
Matt Jones has a really good attitude. No gimmicks, just a down to earth guy. He seems the sort of approachable guy you could have a casual chat to when having a break out on the trails. Very talented guy and enjoyable content as ever. Keep it up mate👍
I was wondering why Matt's video didn't have the new white/black seat. Now I understand that the build video from yesterday on his channel was obviously made a while back and the seat probably wasn't out by then. Hahaha sneaky matt
You're extremely natural and that's what makes the videos so relatable you're awesome bro !!! Honestly think I met you at porc maybe 12 ish ago ur a gg!!! Bless up
Its great to here a riders back story, makes them human more than a machine!! And its also amusing to see John Oldale trying to hide in the background!! lol
Love this style of video. Matts videos are a lot of fun, but this felt like a more sincere and enjoyable video. Matt is an amazing rider and person, and I hope he sticks around with marin for a while. Its really cool to see a little bit into some of his other avenues than riding and youtube.
It was rad that Marin came up with this video idea, it’s not something I’ve talked about much before but they did such an amazing job of telling my story. I’m buzzing with it. Thanks
i hunted down a 2019-20 San Quentin 3 after watching a video like this w/ mr Matt and his.. i just can't believe how much i like the bike and it gets more compliments than my sexy motorcycle. now seeing this beauty i feel like the Quentin is kind of lonely when parked alone... exquisite paint scheme, almost as nice as mine :}
Matts the reason i bought and built a San Quentin 3. Love his videos, very inspiring. I also started making videos, not quite the same as his, but still pretty good content lol.
What an awesome story Matt! I think it is awesome including your autograph for fans. You actually gave a personal birthday shoutout to one of our mechanics Tim a few years ago which I thought was really cool. Keep up the great content. Really digging the new Alcatraz! Can’t wait for ours to arrive. The only issue is we all want one at the shop but also have customers wanting them and waiting for them! Decisions decisions
What a truly fucking sick video! I am jealous of all that Matt has built/earned/nearly died for, what a life and history to leave. I’m also very sad I don’t have his bike but I’ll cry about that later 😂
The thing is, I live in indiana, so theres not that many places around here to make it worth it if I got one, but I’m working on building my own line so we’ll see
That was wicked hearing Matt & Ben's back story. Who I now like even more now I know they like dnb as well. Matt if you ever want Kleu Drum and Bass remix of your intro music 👋🙏
Excellent presentation video. Marin should sponsor Ben Grist too. Send him a few bikes, make him a BMX frame. Call it the "Moundsville". Then send me one.
i got the marin alcatraz 2021 but belgium sucks. there are no dirtjump places or barely any so i sometimes feel it was not that smart but i still love it.
Glad there's now a long frame, the 2020 is a little too short at over 6' tall, just wish the color way was better - something more along the bright colors Marin normally uses
is that english sun? jeez he must have been testing that frame for a while, he did say theres been some geo tweaks but fuck yea jonsey, good to see someone made it by doing what they love, it makes that idea feel less impossible to the rest of us
Nice video. Planning to buy my very first Marin Alcatraz buy i dont know what size im about to get. My height is 5'6" to 5'7". Can you recommend what size i will take. Is it small or large? Thank you
Hi Anthony - you're on the bubble between the small and long frames. You'd probably be happy on either, but the long will have a bit longer toptube, giving you a roomier cockpit, while the small will feel a bit snappier. Really comes down to personal preference. If possible, try to ride a friend's bike, and then check the geometry vs our Alcatraz. At least you'll get an idea that you like a reach number that is closer to one or the other.
Bro in marin alcatraz 2022 chain adjuster given on both sides a little amount of metal is sticking that rear wheel mounting area looks too weak does it break while making long jumps that wheel mounting area

Thanks dude! Ben and I are such good friends and now business partners too. So I’m super lucky. Stoked you love the new frame
@@MattJones you are such a bad ass. I don't ride but watch all of your videos.

Through our local Marin rider, Scott Thornhill, we've seen the bike take a harsh beating and been incredibly impressed by how tough the Alcatraz is while being amongst the lightest DJ frames out there
Yep! And Scott was sent a long frame a few weeks ago. Check his feed for posts with his new bike in the coming days/weeks/months.
Thanks so much! Yeah this frame has been such a huge part of my career and the abuse I’ve given it has been insane but I’ve achieved so much riding this jump bike. It’s so sick to launch the latest version
The new 2022 long size its one of the larger size of all DJ bikes. Im 6 feet , 250 lbs and fits more than perfect.
This is sick. What a great insight, I love hearing people's back stories especially this one from Matt. Legends.
Thanks dude!
Matt an Jono are the reason I'll start this hobby. I'm so addicted to the videos and all the stuff around it it's insane :)
Oh, that's excellent!
Oh my I love my new bike used to ride everywhere in Florida ...
Matt Jones is sooo good. Soo positive...always encouraging and when he's hurt his doesn't push through he takes care of himself which is another great message for his fans.
Loved watchin Matts Videos over the last few years he has inspired me to want to ride more.
Excellent! Hope you're having a blast on your bike.
Big up matt and Ben and Jono. Been a long term viewer and its an amazing to see them all grow. Huge love for these guys x
Thanks dude! I’m absolutely going to film more with Ben and Jono in the next few months
Good for you Matt & Ben, 2 genuinely nice, cool guys, great to see you doing well! Life is for living & enjoyment, go to it!
Thanks so much. We’re still figuring it all out but it’s been amazing so far.
Yes yes Matt. Dam what an awesome vid you guys have put together. Watched Matt for years and loved hearing the story told this way. Thank you to all involved.
Matt is a legend, props to him, fully deserved 👏
He’s not a legend. He might be a very good rider but he cheated on his fiancé dreadfully along with other things
@@oscarjdaley6873 from a riding point of view. Everyone makes mistakes 🤦♂️
Thank you dude, legend

Yeah I’m stoked about this video too! And I know a lot of riders will be happy with the longer frame
Matt is honestly the reason I ended up getting a Marin Rift Zone. Never really heard of Marin until I found him.
Thats awesome to hear

This was such a sick feature on our fav rider! thanks marin

Such a well produced video. Loved the riding of course but them cinematic shots mixed with some fisheye shots was mad🤌 Nice one lads
Thanks - thats all down to Alex Rankin
I grew up watching the Earthed movies made by Alex Rankin so it’s mad that all these years later I’ve had the chance to film with him too
