Monica Mcnutt is talking about the WNBA, not diversity in the ESPN Studio. What are we talking about? Don’t cap, nobody was talking about the W 3 years ago. Even Shannon knew this to be true, that’s why he said “nobody was”. You can love women and admit that we weren’t talking about the WNBA years ago. Monica didn’t do anything wrong; I hope she stands on business.

Probably not. I didn't have a problem with Monica debating with Stephen A and Shannon about Caitlin Clark and the WNBA. But the moment she targeted Stephen A personally, that was below the belt. Most of us know, people say what's truly on their mind when either drunk or mad. For at least 3 years, Monica McNutt felt that Stephen A. Smith hadn't supported the WNBA enough in his other platforms.

I just watched Steve A Smith podcast and everything you said is true, but I just realized something, that made my skin crawl. It seems like nobody wants to say, what is actually going on with this situation with Catlin Clark. I think that Steve A Smith and other media people's are scared of losing there jobs, to tell the people's the real reason why these old players, vets, rookies, coaches, and organizations in the WNBA feel this way about Catlin Clark, giving credit for there hard work, that they held up for decades. Nobody wants to speak the truth, because they don't want to lose there job. I heard Steve A Smith say, Catlin Clark is bring more seats and revenue to the WNBA, but they said the same thing about 3 other WNBA players in the last 2 years. I watch Stephen Curry, KD, Kyrie, and other NBA players supported the WNBA players over the years. She is right!!! Where was the MF support for the black and white womans of the WNBA league, before Catlin Clark. What so special about one player that wasn't special about all the greats players before Catlin Clark. They stand on 10 toes to put this WNBA league on the map and all yall continue to sht on these older players, vets, and current players. Give them womans there respect too. Yall see money, but them womans ain't jealous of Catlin Clark, they are hurt, because yall make this woman the great white hype of the WNBA and nobody ain't talking about the other rookie or vets. Shame on yall. I watch Catlin Clark in college and I said she the next Stephen Curry, because she can shoot, but yall making her seem she going to save the WNBA league and forgot about every other woman in the WNBA league. That's why these womans feel this way. Don't yall see that!!! We know Catlin Clark is good, but like Steve A Smith say, "dam!!!" That's why on that court, they bringing the defense and letting her know, nothing is going to be easy in this league. You can't be soft in this league. This not, let her shoot it because she open and the fans want yall to give her the shot for free. Nope this not high school or college basketball. If yall going to give Catlin Clark her shine. Tell the truth, why the womans of the league is acting this way. Those old vets knows more than you media and Steven A Smith, because they played in the league. Apologize Steven A Smith. Stephen A. stated nothing but facts. But what stood out the most to me is what he said about the lack of women supporting the WNBA. If women support it, it will prosper. Something else that people missed is when he brought up diversity and the WNBA players that he brought to First Take, that completely destroyed Monica McNutt’s argument. Who better to promote the WNBA than WNBA players? And he gave them one of, if not the most marketable platforms in sports media to do so. The fact that she said that on his show while being a part of his show is comical and sad. That’s why the WNBA is not as popular as they could be. They don’t even know how to market themselves, so how can you expect someone else to.

Because (unlike a main co-host like Max or Shannon) the only reason why people are getting to hear you is because you're on his platform. That's something you talk to him behind the scenes or before the show and give a heads up.

Glad you said this people can’t see it but that’s what I see in Caitlin Clark and Reese Larry bird and magic all over again. Bird came in the superstar from French lick Indiana and magic from Lansing mi they were intertwined for the duration of their careers!!! They saved the NBA fierce rivals but one thing they had that I don’t see from Reese towards Clark is respect!! They wanted to beat each other in all things but they respected each other

@ephraimlowe7780 now I imagine media coverage was all about their games and how great they were. Remember the Laker won the chip that year & the Celtics won 60 games.
And SAS looks crazy here. Dude is not talking about the points made from 1st Take. And to make it even funnier, Monica went on club NighCap to have a great convo with Shannon & Ocho. My guy looks silly here

Yes. I was attending Indiana State University when Bird got there. When I saw him play, I called my boys from home and told them about this white dude balling. Bird put ISU, Terre Haute, hell even French Lick Indiana on the map! Bird and his boys would come to the rec center and run everybody off the court!!! I’m from Gary Indiana and there was this one particular basketball court where guys all over Northwest Indiana would come and play! Like Ruckers’ in New York! It didn’t matter if you were black, white or a martian, if you could ball that was the only thing that mattered! Yes, that how much respect we had for the hoopers back in my day. I believe Caitlin will be alright. If you are a fearless competitor and love the game, you will get that respect! Peace y’all!!

And guess what...people like to do their revisionist history as if Magic was held as highly as Larry Bird at that time, but Larry was regarded as superstar without equal in the NBA by white America! They would say the NBA is 75% black, but a white man is the best player in the league! Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman even spoke out against the preferential treatment and highlighting of Larry Bird above other great players at the time. Caitlin and Angel can't escape the racial tension, it's followed them from NCAA to the WNBA

Did they forget that Angel Reese also took a cheap shot from a player for the Connecticut Sun, and she was also thrown out of the game. You did not hear Reese complaining nor did you hear the media cover her taking the cheap shot as much as they are covering Caithlin Clark's cheap shot taken from Chennedy Carter and others. Reese took it like a champ and realized that this is just the business of being a rookie and did not take it personal. She proved that after the game at her press conference when she refused to say anything negative about Alyssa Thomas. In fact, she thanked her for welcoming her to the WNBA. I just believe that the veteran players are trying to send a message to some of these high-profile rookies. However, I do believe that Caithlin Clark and Angel Reese will be the (2) women who brings forth positive change in revenue and endorsements to the league as long as the media does not mess things up. Lastly, I do agree with M. Barnes that Clarks teammates should have been there for her regardless of how they may feel about her because some of them have resentment towards her too. Guess what, Reese's teammates should have had her back too after Thomas clothesline the hell out of her too. However, they all understood the process of high-profile rookies having to earn their respect in the league. This is nothing new. I do not think it is a black or white thing, I just believe that because of both of them being as popular as they are coming into the league, players are going to take their shots at them, especially Cathlin Clark.

Stephen, I want to point out that the 3rd tech call should be nullified. The League should check what happened before the argument/confrontation between CC & the storm player. This player on the way to their court, clearly hit CC on the chest or neck with her forearm. Of course, CC had to react, but poor officiating caused all these issues. The ref's need to be reviewed and fined or suspended if necessary.

@fslizzle6010 Because WNBA needs more than just Caitlin Clark. They need TV shows talking about them too. SAS I value your opinion on this. I do believe in this case two people can be right. M&M is also right. You continued to reference how many ladies you have contributed to us now knowing and seeing on TV. M&M's comment was not about that. Her comment was directed towards YOU and you having a platform where you could have done more to bring exposure to the WNBA. Had you perhaps given more time to the WNBA on your show perhaps that might have helped to also bring light to the league is what I believe M&M is saying. I do believe you have helped many women by bringing them to FirstTake, but that was not M&M's point on your show.
