Is it true there was some connection between Clark and the Nugan/Hand Merchant bankers CIA ? The Auctioneers offered a brief history of the seized goods as marketing ploy.....never let a chance to by to ramp up interest, eh ?
This is really well done. I remember the Wilson's were found in place not far from where I was living at the time, I was just a young kid but was always interested in the News, especially if it was bizarre and happened close to home. This story got my interest mainly because the Wilson's were reportedly murdered by cross bow. I also watched the Underbelly, Tale of two cities, series which covered the Mr Asia story. Terry Clarke was played by Matthew Newton who did a great job. Thanks for this video, you did a great job too.
I worked at the MOJ for 9 years and came across Peter Fulcher in 2005-6 . Well-told (with extensive use of stock-footage, but heck: how else!?). I had vaguely heard of the big bust via the media at the time, but didn't pay much attention to the deets. Now I know way too much! And; like a lot of the Kiwis commenting here; I have a curious connection to the case. I shared a house with a TV News producer & content-creator (Not giving any names) and he was one of the journalists who dug the dirt on the syndicate that eventually lead to the Big Bust. The guy that broke to story, in fact! As the story goes, he and his associates had to operate in secret and keep a very low profile -as they realised that they might become targets if their activities leaked to the bad guys. I knew him in 1988/89, after he was safe again.

My old man told me stories about an organisation he was hired under as a bodygaurd (got eyed out through a martial arts tournament). He was always vague and would avoid using names, so I'd question whether it was true or not. Spoke to him more in depth out of curiosity for the type of lifestyle it was and that's when I was able to get more details about it. He told me was working under Jim and told me a bunch of stories that would derive from him working with them. I can't provide evidence that these were true, but knowing my pops he's honest and seeing the way he talks on these things, he gets so nostalgic and happy looking on the memories. A few of these stories were: Spending time with Jim's daughter collecting rent from the properties Jims family owned. Also said Jims daughter was a pianist too. Had a fallout with Jims daughter and was followed for the entire day, so he had ran to the a community he knew would ensure some level of safety. Eventually had a talk with Jim about the altercation in which Jim threatened him in a serious and joking matter via quoting a Bible verse about jim holding the key to life and death. Being pulled over to allegedly knockout the cop and then driveoff with Jim and some other guy. Seeing Terry sinclair and noticing how a lot of people were afraid of him He then got into a big accident with a smaller gang in NZ where he feel asleep outside waiting for the others to come out and fight. During his sleep he got hit in the head with a hammer which he was then comatosed for a year. During this time Jim's daughter would visit, however it was from this experience he realized he needed to change his life and was then when he managed to distance himself from the organization. Said he was very lucky to have the accident occur, since it gave him a way out. I did very poor job trying to explaining it, but thought it was interesting to add.

I know a guy who knew him as a kid, about 7 or 8,but he was already carrying around a razor sharp pen knife, and he wasn't afraid of any of the older boys either. He said that he would either become a multi national criminal or a robbery crew. He started with the drugs, and was lucky to get back to NZ,and after that he became too big for NZ,but he had a lot of competition in Sydney already, but he still went ahead and by the early 80s, he was the major heoin importer in Sydney, well, he was selling ,at street level, what you would have to buy an ounce to get enough of a percentage of the hreroin to cut it once or twice, but the one thing that he did say was that Clarke, if he hadn't been an evil man ,he could have retired rich and powerful, legally ,he was that smart. It is one thing that I have noticed about people of high intelligence, they either use their gift for evil and this is what usually happens to them as well. Unless you are the GUVNOR of London, you you are always looking over your shoulder, especially when you move into someone's turf without permission and a percentage.
Aotearoa was probably the long white cloud guiding Polynesian navigators to the north island but thats also folklore, so the king country was Aotearoa for many years and Te Waipounamu for SOuth Island so the whole combination of New Zealand was 'Aotearoa me te Waipounamu' but NZ didn't have a single name for the whole country prior to European settlement. Aotea also was the name of a long Canoe involved in the migration.. roa is long..
Not true. The name Aotearoa was never a Maori term for New Zealand, it was invented by a colonialist in late 1800’s. It also does not appear in the Maori version of the treaty. They used the term nu tirene
@@Teddysad written maori words were created back in the UK when a famous maori warrior travelled back to convert their verbal language to English, Niu Tireni is a direct literal spelling of New Zealand so that dates your theory later after New Zealand was named. Maori news papers had nui tereni and nui terani in their titles whis meant the news of new Zealand, it wasn't a Maori original word for new Zealand as its a literal translation, makes sense though.. Scotty Morrisons short documentaries on how maori language was converted to the written word are pretty fascinating. Pakeha spelled Fjord wrong so now we are stuck with fiords instead of Fjords.. Our original books had them spelled correctly as fjords.. Nui Tereni and Aotea or Aotearoa are all post colonial names.. But Aotearoa and Aotea was pre Nui Tereni used by tribes in the king country and most likely before colonialism..
I loved Scotty Morrison's doco on the origins of Māori (sorry I can't remember what it's called) but It was so fascinating. He went to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and ended up in Taiwan. I love all that stuff I'm huge nerd for languages and origins of culture so thanks heaps for sharing man. Much appreciated 🤠👍
@@caleyhall no way.! Aotearoa was not used by the Maori at the term for what is now New Zealand ( maybe for some in the North Island and then only a few). As said it is a name allegedly coined by Thomas Bracken ( in circa 1978). Indeed. The term Niu Tireni appears in the Maori version of the treaty in 1840.
The way you have broken down Aotearoa is incorrect, which is why you got a different translation. It is broken down as Aotea - Roa. Which means cloud/white and long. Aotea is a variety of Pounamu (greenstone) which cloudy and white. 👍

@@dadadannn - I met a guy just out of prison who told me about a plot to spring an Alexander Sinclair out of Parkhurst prison on the Isle of Wight, which went badly wrong when Sinclair died. Unknown to me, Sinclair was the head of the “Mr Asia” syndicate, which, in the 1970s, flooded New Zealand with heroin. He was also known to have killed or ordered the killings of at least six people. I set out for the isle of Wight and Parkhurst prison, met with the undertaker who handled the funeral, visited the hospital where Sinclair died and then encountered some strange and disturbing characters who didn’t want any publicity about Sinclair’s death. In any event, I wrote up what I found out about the alleged attempt by Sinclair to stage a heart attack and get sprung from the hospital. It went badly wrong when the heart attack killed him. He didn’t realise that years of drug abuse had weakened his heart.

I am genuinely curious as to what else you found "sloppy" in the research of this video though. Thanks again and much appreciated for your reply
@ShadowMatterYT Appreciate your comment. From an historical context and I realise you're not based in Australia but the hired hitman was a guy called James Bazely who was a career criminal. This guy was devoid of any morality ( he had the emotional feelings of a goldfish). On a contract, he murdered heroin dealers and addicts, Douglas and Isobel Wilson because they had been singing to corrupt Queensland police in an effort to reduce their lag time. That signed their fate. Bazely was also responsible for the assination of anti drugs campaigner Donald Mackay. JB was a maggot of a man. Thank God, he's burning in he'll.
Oh yuck. My nana was involved with this lot. She apparently witnessed a murder take place, did a runner and spiralled into a life of severe alcoholism. She wasn’t nice to us at all when we were growing up.

"Missing?" One body was found. Tamahere was seen by two trampers who said he was with Heidi Paakkonen.
David Wayne Tamahere is a violent lying recidivist with a long criminal record. Some evidence at trial since disproven is outweighed by other facts.

I worked at the MOJ for 9 years and came across Peter Fulcher in 2005-6 . By then Fulcher was locked up for a drug deal and his hard lived life was most certianly catching up with him .PF was a short man about barely 5ft . Fulcher and the late Judge Simon Lockhart Q.C talked about the old days. I met the late Sir Peter Williams Q.C and his then wife Heeni many times , they were a lovely couple to deal with . I have an autographed book of Peter's speeches , a book I proudly have in my book collection. another lawyer of Clark's Eb Leary was admitted back to practising law. Leary most certainly had a colorful past indeed

I've never heard of this before. What's the summary of the story there?
@@ShadowMatterYT he is an aboriginal guy that went on the run for like 7 years every time the cops would get near to him he’d escape into thin air. His crimes though he was wanted for was rape of two minor aboriginal girls but for some reason the media and people talked it up like he was some kind of bush ranger/ aboriginal magic man. I grew up in armidale nsw and when I was a teenager there were heaps of stories about him and I knew of one cop chase through armidale with a police helicopter and other police and he just disappeared while also turning up to the Aboriginal NRL knockout when it was hosted in armidale dressed as a lady. I don’t know what information you can find about him but there is a little bit online and on RUclips. I believe they have caught him but they have caught him a few times and he has gotten out.

A few of these stories were:
Spending time with Jim's daughter collecting rent from the properties Jims family owned.
Seeing Terry sinclair and noticing how a lot of people were afraid of him
He then got into a big accident with a smaller gang in NZ where he feel asleep outside waiting for the others to come out and fight.
Good 👍 story and lucky Terry didn’t kill your dad.

Was this the guy that Underbelly did a season on?
Very interesting stuff. Thanks for stopping by and sharing

How so? Elaborate
