- Here is a bit of footage that I took from Gero, Japan. In Japanese onomatopoeia, "Gero Gero or Kero Kero" is the sound that frogs make. Although the Kanji (Chinese Characters) for Gero, located in the prefecture of Gifu do not mean frog, the name sounds like it and you can find frog statues and frog merchandise all around the town.
This village is a National Heritage monument and has an interesting story behind it. Watch the video to find out more if you are interested.
Thanks for watching. Игры
Thanks for braving the bees to film such a picturesque spot! It's wild to think how widespread thatching once was.
i love it when you do these japanese culture videos...you give some of us in the states a chance to taste another culture that we normally cant...its a lot more meaningful than you might think to some of us
Masterpiece work video Mr. Luke !!! This something like , Biskupin , Dzydze or Ciechanów on Poland... Thank you for your absence on You Tube ! Salute for you & your family am think your wife was with you !!! Have nice week !

Lovely place, man - thanks for taking us there. I think this is the most consecutive Japanese I have heard you speak in one of these, that was fun too.

Me and my girlfriend were really enjoying watching it.
Since it is our dream to visit japan some day, we were just dreaming for 25 minutes. Stunning!

Thanks for the video Luke. It's nice to have regular guy like you giving us this tour. Maybe I should film some U.K. Stuff for you guys.
Believe it or not but those grass type roofs are still used today in The Netherlands. They are very expensive and need much more maintenance than normal roofs. Great video Luke I love these :)

Awesome vid. The National Heritage sites are really cool. Last time I was in Japan I tried to go to as many as possible, (mainly went to castles). I'll have to check out this one next time I'm in the country.
Thanks for sharing!

Awesome video luke i love these type of videos . The houses remind me so much of a lot of villages not very far from me still in use . A lot of houses are having the roofs like that now over here cuz of how there so great on heat and stuff .
Lol at the bees its like you and your lady friend getting attacked by mothra lol .

Nice culture video dude
Amazing video Luke. Thank you (:
Heya Luke,
Thanks so much for this vid, I'm a fan of the gaming vids, but this one is really prescient as I'm planning a return trip to Japan and we are gonna base ourselves in Takayama for a while and check out some of the surrounding towns, I've been researching for a week like mad and your video is super-cool, thanks man!
Interesting video luke very informative .
Arigato
Wow due that super cool! I like when ya make Cultural vids man! Great stuff!
I like these kinds of places. Looks worth visiting.
A nice long weekend and a free Monday Children's day! Excellent video Luke. Always love to see more of Japan and Japanese culture. Curious how thatch roof are put on houses the world over. In wet climates they need to be changed every 15 or so years. Not sure how it would be in the Japanese climate there.
You usually get a ton of spiders in thatch roofed buildings just because the roofs are great places for spiders to spawn. Not a place for an arachnophobic that's for sure.
Very nice!
Do all that you can (fundraising or whatever) because Japan is awesome! I went there after 3 years of Japanese, in my grade 11 year, and we got to tour Oosaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima (and Miyajima). Every shrine and temple is filled with charm; it's peaceful, beautiful and the cities are lively and filled with attractions. Totally worth going, and good luck~.
the graphics are effing amazing
"It's a nice place to chill ou...OH MY GOD THE BEES! THEY ARE HUGE AND EVERYWHERE!!! ONE STING YOU ARE PARALYZED & THE SECOND STING YOU ARE DEAD!" lol/joke
Seriously though, I love the cultural videos. They are fascinating, entertaining and give your channel nice variety. Thanks for sharing your adventures in Japan with all of us; it's appreciated.
Those bee's are like Zeppelins
Such a peaceful looking place.
aaaaaaaaand my next vacation spot, this is such beauty! I lived in Beijing for a long time, and we had a lot of the same style, but, Beijing only have quality pirated famicom games, that's just enough for me ;) as always, great vid Luke!
beautiful!
Really interesting - loving the videos, recently inspired me to buy a twin famicom for repairs! It'll take a while to get here, but looking for some games in the meantime :)
Thanks a lot!
Very impressive.
how i so much love japanese culture
Cool video Luke! Wish I visited here while I was in Japan. :(
nice luke!
one word. "beautiful"
lol Luke dodging bees, some1 should get him a beekeeper hat...
Hey Luke, haven't been on RUclips in ages, definitely going to need to catch up on your videos slowly, just been flatout with school and work -really shouldn't be on RUclips now. I really love these videos man, two years time I think I'm definitely going to need to hit up Japan in 2015 man. Really interesting video man, thanks heaps. Hope all is well with you,
Hamish
The bees are like, "Watch it human, or we'll pop the stinger in and kill some of that"
Thanks for uploading this. I love your culture vids. That really is a beautyful village :)
Japan is such an amazing country, and I hope I can get the chance to go over there in the near future.
Btw, it´s great hearing you talking a bit of Japanese :)
Though I never saw the person you were talking to, even when you pan the camera around quickly. Invisible perhaps? :D hehe
Cheers!
Very pretty place Luke. If ya'll have 4-5 inch bees, I think I'm staying here. I hate the small ones enough, lol! Maybe my "Southern Devil" scorpions can duke it out with them some time, hehe!
Beautiful video man! Love this! From one Midwesterner to another. So amazing to see this!! LOL, that's 'Gero' not the ghetto... ;) Thought I would point that out to those with poor hearing.
Japan is such a beautiful place
in danmark they also have those grass rooftops on their houses^^ well at least on those holidayhouses =)
awsome
I like the music in the background at 05:02. The song is Sakura, Sakura I believe.
This was wonderful cultural and serene video! Another great episode of "life with luke". Who was enjoying the trip with you? apology if that's too personal.
I hope the "bees" weren't the giant japanese yellow hornets I saw on a nature film. These were huge and extremely aggressive, especially if you came too close to their nest.
I used to rent a house that was infested with wasps. Every morning in the summer going in to the kitchen you had to watch were you put your foot, because of dead or dying wasps. You had to move through a cloud of wasps to get outside if the door had been left ajar, because their entrance was blocked by the door.
That was a great video, everything looked great and the weather was amazing. Did you have a guide with you?
man this playce is beautifull *-*
I like coming in to work with a new lukemorse1 vid.
You have such great video quality :> what camera are you using?
Wooh there's a duck! haha XD laughed so hard Luke
Cool video Luke! Quick question, do the Japanese people get upset sometimes when people film, or take pictures?
More of these! Please?
I didn't know you were in Japan XD
But serious, great video. Did you went with your family?
awesome man. is this easy to reach from tokyo?
I think those are スズメバチ aka Asian Giant Hornet which exists in japan.
Great Video make make some more. :D
people seem to be more talkative there then when you did your last outdoor video
Ah, now I see her.
Even a Ninja can´t stay hidden forever :P hehe
this is heaven
Very cool Luke, you should speak japanese and put subtitles up. Oh was it really a duck or did you just fart lol :-P
Who were you with Luke o.o?
Fuckin awsome..man that slide looked like fun..i would of had too go pray for better cookin skills in that shrine .thanks Luke for allowing us in your world/life..! That FroG..hhahhahahahaha...hell yeah..had ta git a picture of that.
Call me an old fuddy daddy, but i know in my previous life i was a sailor from Sweden or Holland.I´ve been there before.I´d like to go back to Japan.I´ts a society strange for me.But o.k for my ancestry.I´d love to,after several hundreds of years,to go back.-Strange i know, but its what i feel in my heart.I have to travel to Nippon,if it kills me.
Curiosity killed the cat...
But no one escapes from glass reflection: 4:56 , on the right :P
this is where all the dirty animes come about. Those wasps around there are fucking massive, if you see those, RUUNNNNNNN. Yes there faster then us, but run like hell. XD
Where's Jiraiya? LOL =P
Cool video but it just bothered me who were with you?
Seems like a lovely place. :)
Aside from those bees that could kill ya....
Do people look at you as if you are a tourist usually?
