Seen one twice at 2 different tidal creeks in the Northern Coastal Nj area last year. First time & had no idea what it was. Some birder lady told me after giving my discription. Looked it up & sure enough!
Great video Stuart! Now that I have my new Z8, I really want to try taking some videos. I also have the Sennheiser MKE 200 mic. Since I really don't know much about video editing, what would be the easiest settings that wouldn't require any/much editing. Thanks!
I would use the H265 10 bit 4K at 30fps in SDR, still have options for editing but mostly ready to go from the camera. Video is a steep learning curve for sure but those setting will get you usable footage as you get started. Highly recommend downloading the free version of Davinci Resolve as well if you haven't already. Cheers
Hi, You've done some great videos on the Z8. I've just ordered my Nikon Z8 after watch you great Z8 videos., I'm a hybrid shooter. In Video mode, is it possible to Start/Stop Continous AF with the press of the rear AF Button, or half press the Shutter button to enable constant AF?
Thanks Martin, so in video mode if you have af-f mode on it continuously tries to af, if you hold down the af-on button it will switch it af-s while the button is held down and go back to af--f when released. The other option from af-f is if you ever so slightly tough the manual focus ring it will switch the camera into manual mode and the af won't be reengaged until you hit the af-on button again.
Very enjoyable video, many thanks. In the UK we have a bird we call the Water Rail. I don't know if this is the same as the species you have photographed. Certainly it looks very similar to the one i shot - ruclips.net/video/GTZPH5BlJeM/видео.html Would be interested to hear if it is just down to the name or if there is actually a difference.
Hi Brian, It's very similar for sure. Rails only migrate short distances so they probably were one species at one time but have been separated by an ocean for along time now so are genetically different now.
Stunning photos.
I do like your videos style. Right in the field with some good tips. Well done.
Thanks Rad, I really appreciate it
Great info and video, Stu! Thanks for taking us along, keep up the terrific work. What a pleasure to be out in the field with you, and the experience.
Thanks Tom
