Being on Saatchi led me to your videos and they have been transformative for me. A huge thank you! I will only add that any big art site can have its disadvantages, such as inadvertently controlling your image. That can be detrimental as an artist as it is all about one's vision...

Brilliant advice, art is about truly about building your name, brand, interpretation and experience and it sounds and looks like Saatchi can not offer that. My artwork just went straight on to straight off Saatchi. I will hobble with my trusted Etsy until ready to fly on my own. Thank you again x

Straight forward and informative!! I just created my Saatchi art profile yesterday, and I have to agree with everything you said. Especially with the competition, because the established artists get promoted by their curators and they get to sell more and more, while an emerging artist's chances are so narrow.

👋 Hey, yes, it’s not an easy moment to start out as an artist. International shippings are now very slow and pricy. It’s complicated to ship large framed art! Maybe you can consider POD sites as well. The printing warehouse facility of your customers region will automatically fulfill the orders. This way artists and buyers don’t pay international shipping fee.

I have heard that selling prints is a matter of working for the looters. Saatchi offers them your art images for free so they esaily download and print on their own... It is something that with a simple watermark they can avoid, but for some sinister reason they have not wanted to do it.

Thank you for this video. I'm a Saatchi Art artist from 2015, I sold about 10 artworks with their platform, but recently something changes (their website was redisigned) and I notice that the artworks I've uploaded from this change are not having any views... not even my followers can see them in their feed... do you know what is happening?

I’ve been on Saatchi since the beginning. I signed on and the waited four years before I got some sales, I sold 3. That is how it’s been with them for me. A sale comes through at an unexpected time. I some times get 2 or three sales at once, then I don’t hear anything from them for years.
I have not invested in ads or even posted on social media that I sell on Saatchi.

Thanks for the information. I have my art on Saatchi art since year 2009. Saatchiart/Razarts. I Have sold one original artwork and few prints. One sale was returned, I am curious about what points you have shared, this insight is interesting, yes, agree artists don't have any contact with art buyers and art collectors but of course all art online is now accessible by collectors,we have Google. And then I want to mention that the Saatchiart online gallery also keeps promoting artworks. So that support is also good in these times of competition for artists. Loved this video and Thank you for sharing!

We ended up in this situation when quantity permanently took over quality. It is not the 19th century anymore, when you worked on 3 paintings a year to finally release masterworks. No, we live in a very much different era now. Though I'll try Saatchi out, I don't have high hopes. Thanks for the video!

Right! Quantity is the new “quality” nowadays. Fast fashion is taking over the fashion industry, fast techniques flooding the art world. I am sure there is a way to find the balance between the two.

I know a lot artist who are not financially okay, wants to make that little money from there art, and can go by saatchiart to at list make money for the couple of times... The platform should equally give the artist a room to get in touch with the buyers or collectors of there art, so the did know what to create more and having a great energy flow that this particular work connected to someone and he might want more of it.. By that way prefer having my own website .. But I think it all calls for having and building your audience

    Hi Mo Li!
Thank you for such a interesting review, you have definitely made me think it twice. However there’s a point I can’t still figure out: how to manage shipments, particularly international ones? Every time I have had to send anything it has take me tons of efforts and headache (I’m based in Spain). At least in this point I saw Saatchi as great advantage but maybe you have another advice into how to manage it so it’s not a painful process and it’s affordable for my collectors? Thank you so much 🙏

    • @VeryPrivateGallery

Hi, there! Yes for Spanish shipping out to America it's complicated. Nowadays even more. A famous Chinese influencer bought once from a European site and got blocked by the system/logistic issues. He thought it was a scandal and almost went to court... but finally it was all a big logistic mistake.
There are some French platforms (both open and close like artmajeur), their customers are mainly European. Maybe for you it's easier to work with? At least you won't do international shipping.

I was watching a video of Equatorial artist Ashly she had sold a painting which was damaged in a fire but she didn’t realise. She offered to repaint the same work but needing more time, or alternatively sending a similar work. She was communicating through Saatchi instead of talking to the client directly. This is how things normally go on this site.

thank you for the video! I registered at SaatchiArt a few years ago but something did not work in terms of photo prints format, in preview my panoramic artwork was shown as square and it kind of was ruining the whole idea. So I gave up, did not post any after. Now started to think is that even a good option to sell art photography and also artworks in the future there? Because with any agency there is fine print and rules and it might be limiting in some way. however the website was recommended by a friend who I trust, she has sold a few photo artworks there.

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  Год назад

Selling fine art photography is more delicate. If you don’t have already a big fan base of collectors, I would recommend to sell prints online and to sell originals with a gallery. Yes, in the art market fine art photography works need to follow some rules such as editions. It’s to protect the value of your work more than anything else. In some countries you pay less taxes too. It’s a good thing following those rules.

It’s difficult to swing your fans to another channel of communications. There are many platforms make lots of money because of this, like this unicorn company Airbnb. The prices on some of the photography at Saatchi Art is beyond ridiculous... from hundreds to thousands of dollars for photos that, at the touch of a button, can be duplicated endlessly, and to add insult to injury, many of these photos ship in a tube. The artists have the audacity to not even frame their work before selling it. Really some people have an over inflated opinion of both themselves and their art.
