hey, nice video. do you know what material it’s made from? you may have mentioned in the video, but i didn’t listen to everything, as it’s night and i can’t have the audio up loud enough to hear well.
Wow that's a much better quality one than mine! My "brass" eyelets looked like they were cut from a rusty SPAM can - I prised them off and sewed in rope grommets in all four corners like an old time canvas sail. I also replaced the plastic toggles (what Europeans call those "buttons") with wooden ones. A lot of my button holes weren't formed properly so I cut them and learned to hand stitch button holes. For some reason the Romanian version has four toggles inside but just three up the "front". I added a fourth up alongside the draw cords. It makes for easier fastening when you put it on as a poncho: do up the toggle, snug up the neck draw cord, snug up the face opening draw cord. I don't bother tying shoelace bows just tuck them inside. It's easier to take off when you have cold fingers too - just unbutton the toggle and you're free. Thanks for the video!
The blue ponchos, blue bread bags, blue backpacks and other items in that color were made for the Romanian Militia(police) and the infamous Romanian Securitate (secret police)
Hello, I collect romanian cold war militaria aswell and I would like to know if theres a way that i can have the mess tin and the canteen on the breadbag without them making noise when I run. Great content !
If they are loose they will make noise. Either wrap them in some cloth or get them tighter on the haversack with a few more straps. The other source of noise is inside the mess kit (if you have something inside there). The way I presented my mess kit (with the wind screen around it - metal on metal) will inherently make a lot of noise. Less metal items touching each other, less chances and sources of noise you will have. See if you can switch some item around. For example get the mess kit inside the bag and something else outside.
I have a couple of Romanian palatkas, but they are camouflage ones, an oak leaf pattern. They also had plain ones like yours, but I have quite a few Russian ones which are similar. I also have a couple of NVA ones in a strichtarn camo that is pretty cool. I got the NVA and Romanian ones from www.varusteleka.com
This is awesome. I just ordered one of these. I can’t wait to get it. I’ll finally be able to walk around in the mountains looking like a heroic wood elf 🧝🏻♂️
You only need to fold one corner in. Pull the strings (2) and you have a functional hood. The tarp/poncho has two slits built in where your arms go through. It is pretty strong and thick.
Let me know if you have any questions about this tarp or any other equipment I have.
How does it compare to soviet union made palatka? Is the canvas batter?
@@siikaahven6890 I don't have the Soviet one so I really don't know how it compares. Supposedly it is a copy, but quality may be different.

i have found out that they are cotton… 😌 👍🏽
@@spiritseas It's canvas. Cotton.

Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the vid! I like that the Romanian and Polish versions have two arm slots unlike the USSR variant
AND pockets
Thanks for making this video! :)
Thanks, I was lost when this thing arrived today but thanks to you, I’m all set & it’s gonna work. Need to get the rest of my kit set up now!
I have a '90s issue one... it's pvc coated, and cammie covered! Also, they made blue ones... blue bread bags, and blue back packs...

The 4 buttons are used to turn it into a rucksack.
how do you do that?
best design I found the double arms hole make it better than the russian one with just one (dx) hole. It has to be waxed the first time.

@@dixy2k I will try that. Thank you mister!

Hello, do you know how to turn it into a rucksack?
I have no idea.
I’m 5’1. Will this be too big for me?
It would probably be very close to the ground. You can probably cinch it so it would not be too low.
romanian model is best one .. 2 arm slits and 2 internal pockets, no other ComBlock palatka has those...
This is awesome. I just ordered one of these. I can’t wait to get it. I’ll finally be able to walk around in the mountains looking like a heroic wood elf 🧝🏻♂️
I measure 1.90m.. do you think it would be possible to setup a shelter with that tarp ?
Two would be better with some tent sticks. But yes you can do it with just one. It won't be very comfy, but it works in a pinch.
isnt it leaky as unlike the Russian one it is not waxed?
Normally they should be waxed.
comment assembler le tarp en poncho merci and strong or not
