love the One. stochastic mode is like a Turing Machine, but more steerable and with quantisation built in - having that across all my synths, not just the Euro-compatible stuff, is great.
Great video. I’ve still got a ways to go to get my head around the Oxi, but I’m so impressed with it so far. I opted for the Black as well, and love that it’s more of a midnight blue up close, sort of like the newer M2/3 MacBook Airs.
Man, your studio sure is a beautiful spaceship. The Oxi seems to be really good, plus it looks rather awesome, which as we all know is equally important. Would look lovely next to the Tempera :D
Ohh they are both kinda different. For straight up sequencing and range of features, the Oxi wins. For more esoteric, generative stuff, the T1 probably has the edge.
The Hapax is larger, is a bit easier to navigate, and has more tracks available. The full sized DIN is good, though there is less CV/gate output. The dual simultaneous project loading on Hapax is awesome. However... I tend to find myself using OXI One all the time.
Thanks for the video - excellent as ever. I’m strongly GASing for the OXI but wonder whether the 4 tracks will be enough to control everything in my setup (Digitakt2, Syntakt and Roland TB-3) I have fallen in love with Elektron workflow but can’t stop thinking about the visual benefits of the OXI. Can you give me a steer?
Glad it was useful! Nice KLF avatar btw. Four tracks should be enough for those three, yeah. You can also just synch the Digitakt and sequence on it separately too. The Oxi has lots of the Eleketron style trigger lock functionality like conditional trigs and whatnot, so you should be good there! I genuinely love the Oxi One and can recommend it. :)
Perhaps you need talent and taste to buy modules and synths ? Conversely some people that buy modules and synths that don't have talent and taste develop more talent and taste than people who think that you can buy modules and synths but you can't buy talent and taste because buying modules and synths requires a level of talent and taste.Conversely modules and synths are objective whereas talent and taste is purely subjective and therefore people that bang on about talent and taste may well be deluded by their own self aggrandisement and only have talent and taste that is not recognized by others but by themselves. In any case people that have bought modules and synths and do have talent and taste are too busy having fun playing to bang on about having talent and taste because banging on about having talent and taste probably means that although they may have modules and synths they have neither talent, nor taste.
Oxi is boss and now is available locally for me, but the Reliq is soon to be released and is my desert island sequencer. It's going to be 2 x the $ but I think the asking will be worth it.
You could use them together in a variety of different ways, such as sequencing the M8's synth engines with the Oxi, or just clock synching them to control more bits of gear, but that's not a scenario I would personally find a use for. :)
I sent you a message on Instagram about the Atari Jaguar, Nuon and, Xbox 360 visualizer. If you didn’t get it, I’ll send it again . There’s a lot of potential as a video synthesizer when you add an audio input. Any of these three disk based consoles have potential. Many thanks
It’s all good. thanks for getting back to me. I know it’s gotta be a lot to keep up. I sent you a few notes on IG just now. You should see me now. I tried to comment on your comment above but it doesn’t stay up. On RUclips that is. So I just commented on my post. Hope you see this
Thanks so much for the review Stephen !! 😊😊
Oxi... the one to rule them all. Appreciated your review. A deeper dive down the road might be uber appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!!

That's a cool way to think about it that hadn't crossed my mind!

The Tempera looks awesome!
Your room becomes more and more filled to the brim with gear.
yes, it is ludicrous
That was one sick opening jam....
Thanks!!
Cool as "FuQ" like your hat, music, and self!
Thanks a lot!
Swiss mary knife. Wait, army. Wtf
Excellent sequencer. Great message on needing to put the work in to be handsomely rewarded.
Swiss marry kill
I want a Swiss Mary knife now.
@@StephenMcLeod I'm going to sell my Oxi One and buy a Swiss Mary knife - if krazywabbit can,i can.
Good call to pair the Greek philosophers with the Nymphes
:D Glad you spotted it.
Next up, how about the Chompi or the Polyend Tracker+ ? I have a Tracker+ en route right now.
Chompi is on the list! Tracker+ seems cool but I don't think Polyend will be sending me one any time soon!
Thanks Stephen. Do you prefer this or the Torso T1? I'm on the fence.
Ohh they are both kinda different. For straight up sequencing and range of features, the Oxi wins. For more esoteric, generative stuff, the T1 probably has the edge.
@@StephenMcLeodWhat about the Oxi vs the modicake ? I just saw your wonderful midicake video
Sequencing drums is such a blast with this thing, but I've overall only scratched the surface with mine so far.
Same here!
Any thoughts on this vs the Hapax?

Nice review thanks. For all folks just remember: you can buy modules and synths but you can't buy talent and taste 😊
I see what you did there.

Smartass
can this switch between patterns to do intro verse chorus type stuff or does it just loop endlessly?
You can definitely switch between different patterns!
@@StephenMcLeod does it still send midi tempo when not playing? (electron cirklon and squarp do) it really annoys me when sequencers don't.
@@StephenMcLeod are they chainable?
@@Fauxleroid There's a full song/arranger mode that is worth looking into. I am not sure about the tempo send I'm afraid.
Oxi is boss and now is available locally for me, but the Reliq is soon to be released and is my desert island sequencer.
It's going to be 2 x the $ but I think the asking will be worth it.
The Reliq does look wild. A bit of a different beast I think mind.
@@StephenMcLeod yeah it's more a perf tool than just a sequencer, lots going on, but worth the asking imo.
Naive question - what does an Oxi and an M8 look like together and is that even a useful combination?
You could use them together in a variety of different ways, such as sequencing the M8's synth engines with the Oxi, or just clock synching them to control more bits of gear, but that's not a scenario I would personally find a use for. :)
Team middle age Goth-type for life!!! 😆🐀
48 MIDI channels??!!! We need a Ultra-Mega AMFAS studio jam with this thing!! 😁

Yassss.

Especially if you were to Crossfade one of those gamepad controller based video synths, with something more analog or circuit bent

If you think this is good you should try the Synthstrom Deluge.
This one is definitely on my list for one day!
