That Watchtower rifle barrel uses a CNC machined isogrid rib pattern. I recognized it from my days working on the Peacekeeper ICBM Stage IV program at Rocketdyne in the early 80's. Our stage utilized a machined aluminum 2024 alloy plate primary structure that had the same isogrid design; very strong yet lightweight. The Peacekeeper was required to be resistant to proximate nuclear explosion effects after launch including thermal flash (special rubber insulation), pebble impacts (flight through debris cloud), and very intense flash X-rays (outside atmosphere). We tested for all those effect up and including in an underground nuclear test in Nevada. Best program I ever worked on and I only recognized it after the fact late in my career.

It’s called a reflex. AB suppressors has had this for years and you can use them on what every want like a regular suppressor. I own some and don’t want any other kind.
@ of course, that would be great, but I was just thinking of the model 99. They were made in .308 and .243. It could certainly be offered in the current darling, 6.5 creedmoor, I wouldn’t be too bent about that. Might even be my first 6.5 rifle.
@@jameswhitaker1324 Problem is that manufacturing that model would be a higher price for what people would pay. MSRP would be around 1K plus. Still I hope it happens. I have a 1954 99F
@ yeah, but the new ruger made marlins are above $1k, too and people are buying those. Many Henrys are also above $1k. I don’t believe savage couldn’t introduce a new model 99 and make it competitive.
The barrel should be threaded with the last several inches of the internal milled to double as baffles. The thread protector would seal the end of the barrel but once removed it would expose ports into the baffled space that mate up to a suppressor so it would add additional expansion space allowing for a more compact suppressor.
I am a tikka sako fan love that all of the tikkas will be threaded and I do think the ACE will be good especially if they come out with the 6 CM. Thanks for the reviews plenty of good rifles for sure
The tool that cut the outside of the barrel had to cost a ton-a cash. And now way was that sculpting done by hand; my guess is it's controlled by CNC. Which means it's driven by a computer, the cutting bits will wear and need to be replacedand the barrel will require being somehow locked in place before any sculpting can occur. What I'm thinking on top of all that, it's a titanium barrel. If titanium is that hard a substance, why hasn't anyone built barrels from it before this? Unless I didn't hear it right; I could swear the spokesperson said the barrel was titanium and the sleeve was something else? I'm going to have to watch that part again. And, I'm shooting a long gun left handed. They mention that CVA was making a lefty bolt, but they don't mention which of the other manufacturers make a lefty. I'm pretty sure they do; I know that Browning and Swede or Finish (Sako & Tikka) manufacturer still do, because they have for a long time. But, can I safely assume that to be fact?
@mountaintacticalcompany Way to go with the innovation. Definitely one of the most intriguing things of shot show. I understand the long CNC time is part the high cost.
