I lived in New Bedford as a boy from 1957 until 1962 and have many fond memories of it. I'm forever looking for a photograph(s) of the Parker St. School that was built in 1840s or 1850s...she was an ageing structure then but, was beautiful and captured the essence of mid 19th century public architecture in New Bedford.

I love my New Bedford. Those who claim it to be a sh!t hole are only focused on the negative parts of the city, because that is a reflection of how they truly feel about themselves. It is very Easy to hate, judge others, project blame elsewhere instead of rising up to the challenge to look inside ones self and see worth, beauty, love. When you can see these attributes in yourself it is VERY easy to see them elsewhere. It doesn't matter if you are financialy secure , or broke as a joke to see the beaty. Trust me , this is coming from someone who is Very far from financially secure.
My CITY!!! It was critical my children were educated here! I wish more info was given on the Cape Verdean Community and O.L.O.A.

there is no mentiion of st. anthony of padua church on acushnet avenue, started in 1902 and completed in 1912. st. anthony's is an major parish started by a tight-knit community of french community. the makers of this video should be ashamed of forgetting such a generous, well-loved parish with a wonderful history in the community!

Cesspool of syringes, crack pipes , empty nips, used condoms , begging shit bag junkies, criminals preyin and stalking constantly, assholes on stolen mini bikes , no jobs or any you can live on, sky high rents by slum lords who don't fix shit but want to raise the rents every year with mice and cockroaches , apartments over crammed with ppl. New Bedford has been a fucking dump since the early 70s . Go back to your lil art studio and pretend it's the good ol days when it was once such a great place to raise a family .
