I grew up in North Vancouver, Canada in a new develpment called Windsor park. At that time (early 60's) there were only a few streets, We were on Plymouth Drive but the house behind us was on Hartford Cresecent. So it was more than interesting to find out I'm a direct descendent of William Kelsey, one of the Hooker 100.

Well, I truly appreciate the history lesson, you are truly not showing the devastation and the horrible neighborhoods that are in Waterbury now. It is an utter shame that the city has turned into a slum for the most part. You are only showing the areas in the city that are nice. Areas that are not so nice you have vague pictures.

The first Pardee who came to New Haven had two sons who continued the line:Joseph, who moved to West Haven, from which my direct line moved to Orange, and George, who moved to East Haven, whose descendants are the source of many places that today bear the Pardee name. A lot of history indeed!

Impressive slideshow... trying to imagine a better historical soundtrack instead of the synthesized sounding harpish guitar and electronic almost whale sound echoes... Too many kinds of ethnic and pop-periods music to be fairly representational, so maybe clocks ticking.. metal-machinery noises, splashing river water.. clanking trolleys, traffic sounds, the squeak of the Elton Hotel revolving door, multidenominational church echoes in English, Latin and more; bells and chimes, many footsteps and multi-accented voices in crowds, laughter, applause, higher speed sounds of traffic leaving town.

Ummmm...NO. Whoever wrote this has some of their facts wrong. The 1970s were hard. It was a gritty, nasty, dirty town, and the Cambodians , Vietnamese and Laotians didn't come into the city the mid 1980s. THEN, Governor Dukakis and Kerry..the dumbasses...fucked it all up!! 10,000+ were allowed to flock into Massachusetts by inticing them with $15,000 per parent and $10,000 per child! A grant half of which was given by the Feds, half MA $$. With the influx of immigrants came violence, as the 3 countries did not get along - justified animosity from Vietnam Veterans, and families who lost loved ones there...gangs, increased drug trade, garbage, housing prices plummeted, language barriers abounded, and it took 3 years just to train a new police force who spoke the language!! The FBI set up shop in Lowell...and "precincts" (foreclosed houses) staffed 1-3 days a week opened in crime ridden neighborhoods....mine being one! NEW Trans Ams, Mercedes, and Firebirds were parked on front lawns turning them into mud holes... the boat people would buy a Victorian home and move in 20-25 people, raising cats and dogs to eat, stocking kids swimming pools with carp from the Merrimack, and raising pigs... trash littered the street and it smelled. Babies ran loose. Women were seen topless at times.. drive by shootings between Cambodian and Vietnamese- machete murders...want me to go on?? My parents SOLD at 30% below market. So did the neighbors, all of whom lived on our street for 60-100years...multi generational...and got OUT!! THAT, my friends is LOWELL HISTORY...
