"Don't be afraid of feeling stupid. That's where the good stuff happens." That's going up on the whiteboard at work for our students to absorb! Thanks so much Dan and Brain!

I spent a career in Army special operations and we would say; think it through, crawl through, walk through, run through, go live. It’s where the saying fast is slow, slow is smooth, smooth is quick, quick is fast. We broke everything down into component parts and mastered the parts before we put it all together. I need to read these books

Awesome interview/conversation man! Just a stumbled upon your video when searching for reviews on "You are the placebo" & found your take from the book & I enjoyed what you did. To say the least Brian, I am now a subscriber & when my financials get back on track, I'll be getting the monthly subscription. Definitely worth it! Information like this needs to be more common!
    Thank you!

Ive been trying to figure out how to improve on jiu jitsu, rock climbing, guitar, bass, piano, and most importantly (and strange the most difficult to learn) poker and this has helped me out a lot I'm going to read the little book of talent. This is very useful and destroys the notion that you can't be an expert because your not a prodigy... Prodigy aren't born experts they usually start from say 5/10-6/10 instead of most people who aren't gifted can only start at 1/10 or 2/10 where 10 represents an expert 1 is somebody who doesn't know the first thing about it. A ten can. Play midnight sonata on the piano a 1 can't play Mary had a little lamb maybe a 2 can. Now a prodigy may be able to feel the music and do improve but just because they can sense the waves and play accordingly doesn't mean that they even understand how or what they are doing all they know is this sounds good and I can do it. but they will still need to study complex music theory to master it at any level. there is a reason it took hundreds of years to progress to where we are today with musical talent. If it was as easy as getting lucky eventually someone would basically invent everything in a year but even a ten can't do everything since music is a subjective talent with no roof or ceiling. And you can't think about infinity without your brain short circuiting, let alone KNOW 100% about something where there is an infinite number of things to learn.

Hey Brian, much gratitude to you for bringing all these streams of wisdom to us! One point on the sound (I work w sound) - Your mic level sounds lower and more distant from some of the speakers you are interviewing. My suggestion is you get a good mic that can also capture the deeper notes and richness of your voice and that you position it close enough, or with enough gain to match the levels of your speakers. I find many podcasts have poorly matched audio levels and quality. Best, Alex

+alchemyst2000 Quick follow up: You have recs for microphone? I'm currently using a basic Sennheiser headset and would love to hear what you think is best!! THANKS!

+Brian Johnson so it sounds like the issue isn't that your mic is too far away because you're on a headset...must be the quality...I've seen "podcast" Mics that plug in directly via usb. Guessing if you spend a min of 50-100 you'll get a decent set up...or there might be higher quality headsets you can use too. Maybe ask Steve chandler or Dan what they use cause they sound pretty good. Hope that helps. I'd be happy to help you find one if you still need some recommendations lmk. Also I'm sure there's a ton of recommendations from other podcasters
