So so TRUE!!! I first discovered Tommy and STYX in 1979. His music carried me through some very dark days, and even now when I'm down I'll reach for A FYX of STYX 4-EVER😊
Anyone else listening to this 80's gem in September, 2023? I'll never know what brought me here As if somebody led my hand It seems I hardly had to steer My course was planned And destiny, it guides us all And by its hand we rise and fall But only for a moment Time enough to catch our breath again And we're just another piece of the puzzle Just another part of the plan How one life touches the other Is so hard to understand So we walk this road together We try and go as far as we can And we've been waiting for this moment in time Ever since the world began Taken in the times gone by We wonder how it all began We never know, and still we try To understand And even though the seasons change The reasons shall remain the same It's love that keeps us holding on Till we can see the sun again And we're just another piece of the puzzle Just another part of the plan How one life touches the other Is so hard to understand So we walk this road together We try and go as far as we can And we've been waiting for this moment in time Ever since the world began So I stand alone A man of stone Against the driving rain And the night, it's got your number And the wind, it cries your name So we search for clues Win or lose In this we're all the same The hope still burns eternal We're the keepers of the flame And we're just another piece of the puzzle Just another part of the plan How one life touches the other Is so hard to understand So we walk this road together We try and go as far as we can And we've been waiting for this moment in time Ever since the world began....ooh yeeah!
100% agree 👍 and I can clearly understand the lyrics because he pronounced it so well. Sorry for the original but this version of Tommy is so really on TOP 😀👍
Tommy was in a local band, Harvest, that we used to go see every weekend. Keglers Cove in Montgomery, AL. He's was just as good then, his voice is phenomenal. Love him like crazy! ❤
Hello to Tommy. Long time ago, in the Niles Buchanan Michigan area, I was invited over to your house. I still remember the gold record up on the wall. Walked in the front door, it was around the corner. It was on the wood paneling or might have been on the wall on the left as you walked in the door. I'll never forget that day I was pretty young then. So were you Tommy . You are 4 years older than I . God bless you Tommy. May he always be with you and your family.
I've seen Styx three times. The original lineup during their paradise theater tour in the early eighties, and thanks to Tommy Shaws amazing musicianship, and humbleness. I was never disappointed attending a Styx concert. God bless you Tommy, and 🎸 rock on brother ! 🙏
@@davidwelker9700 As you said, Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan of Survivor wrote this song. The group recorded it with Dave Bickler on vocals. But when Sylvester Stallon decided to use the song in the movie Lock-Up, they used Jimi Jamison (Survivor's other singer) to sing it. ruclips.net/video/7pOw3Mx1gW8/видео.html&ab_channel=atomica79
Wow, with his daughter Hannah at 2:46! She's an amazing human being and animal advocate - they call her "The Kitten Lady" because she rescues kittens and shows others how to do the same. Just saw her on "My Cat From Hell" with Jackson Galaxy, driving from a shelter in LA to Boulder, CO with 50 kittens in the back of the van! ALL of them found homes thanks to her and Jackson! :-)
Tommy, you are the greatest! I have been a huge fan since age16. I'm 57 now. Thank you for bringing joy to my life. It was in my marriage vows that I get to marry you when I grow up!
I listened to Survivors version of the song (Jimi's version), and then a awesome "Duet" with Jimi AND David for the first time last night. WOW. Just, WOW. I cannot believe how impeccable & passionate this tribute to their song is. It's beyond words. To be completely honest, I do enjoy this version quite a large amount more, and think Tommy does it with more passion & quality than they did, but still love their version as well. I wouldn't have know it was a cover if it wasn't for the comments on this video. Thank you for helping me discover the true roots of the song.
I was surprised at a recent Styx concert how many Dennis songs they still perform ... He is great. But it took Dennis. him and JY to complete Styx. No part greater than the whole...of course the bands rarely see it that way...
1978 cobo hall Detroit-4th row, the friend from school who got me tickets was taking pictures for the concert he gave me a complete set of them I need to ffind them out but I have some of the most amazing shots of tommy shaw -everybody in the band for some reason there was thousands of balloons that they left at the end drop down matt used to rolled film
i decided that this song will be the song that will be played at my visitation the night before my funeral along with pictures that will be shown like tommy did he's i'm very sad that my son will not be a part of my funeral but hopefully they will let my grandchildren come
Brenda, I’m so sorry about your son. This song also holds a special meaning for me, as it helped me through my custody fight for my daughter when she was an infant. Thankfully, I won that fight, as I was the parent doing right for my daughter. She is now a 28 year old mother of two and I sing this to her daughters, as well. Including my mother, that’s four generations of Tommy fans right there and the guy still looks and sings like he can’t possibly be that old. He’s a complete freak of nature!

I've been a huge fan of yours for a long time. Think I heard this song in passing once before but never really listened to it closely till tonight, and never saw the family until now. I hope to see you on tour again sometime soon as I grew up loving Styx and particularly your tunes. Would love to have seen Styx in Key West last week (my favorite place and where my wife and I were married) but wasn't going to happen. Hope you keep after it for awhile longer so I can see you perform once more. Best to you and your family and thank you for the incredible music.
Tommy Shaw makes America great again!
A flawless performance as usual, Mr. Shaw is a shamely underrated singer but we the ones who really apreciate his talent can enjoy this joyfully

I'll never know what brought me here
As if somebody led my hand
It seems I hardly had to steer
My course was planned
And destiny, it guides us all
And by its hand we rise and fall
But only for a moment
Time enough to catch our breath again
And we're just another piece of the puzzle
Just another part of the plan
How one life touches the other
Is so hard to understand
So we walk this road together
We try and go as far as we can
And we've been waiting for this moment in time
Ever since the world began
Taken in the times gone by
We wonder how it all began
We never know, and still we try
To understand
And even though the seasons change
The reasons shall remain the same
It's love that keeps us holding on
Till we can see the sun again
And we're just another piece of the puzzle
Just another part of the plan
How one life touches the other
Is so hard to understand
So we walk this road together
We try and go as far as we can
And we've been waiting for this moment in time
Ever since the world began
So I stand alone
A man of stone
Against the driving rain
And the night, it's got your number
And the wind, it cries your name
So we search for clues
Win or lose
In this we're all the same
The hope still burns eternal
We're the keepers of the flame
And we're just another piece of the puzzle
Just another part of the plan
How one life touches the other
Is so hard to understand
So we walk this road together
We try and go as far as we can
And we've been waiting for this moment in time

Written by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. First recorded by (their band) Survivor.
I believe Jim Peterik was originally in Ides of March, "Vehicle" was their big hit.
