Excellent review Paul! As a storm owner myself I fully agree on all the points you hit! Yes. It's kind of a pain. Remove brake calipers remove wheels, remove fender, remove swing arms, move up one or two notches and re-install swing arms. The problem is that the front gets longer when you do this, and it puts the contact patch of the tire too far forward, relative to the pivot point of the steering, and makes the steering less stable at speed. Lowering the back by two and the front by one might be good though. I didn't try all of the combinations. Tallest in the front was definitely noticeably more stable at top speed. -Paul
Surprisingly the scooter itself doesn't have an IP rating, though the battery itself is water resistant, if I remember correctly. The longest range scooter we have ever tested is the NAMI BURN-E followed by the EMOVE Cruiser. You can see the results of all of our range tests on our site -Paul electric-scooter.guide/comparisons/compare-electric-scooters/
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thanks!! Its awesome !! 👌 This comparison tool is by far the best i have seen anywhere to help in deciding which Escooter to buy!!! Some sughestions from my side are as follows....1. It would be great if you add another criteria of "warranty..." as for eg in this case we have to pay an additional amount of above 200 $ for 1 2 or 3 years options of warranty for EMOVE while NAMIEBURN comes with12 months free warranty . 2. Also the range is a bit confusing at first and can be clarified instead of putting stars** you can write 'company listed range' and ' our tested range' comparison side by side for a single product instead of a person only to find out this by going to detailed description page seperately. Thanks alot again paul for a detailed response.👍
We find that on our range test, we usually get 60% of the manufacturer's claimed range. But even 60% of 90 miles would be 54 miles which would break our range record of 53.3 miles set by the BURN-E. I really hope to get to find out at some point. Not having data from some of the top scooters is certainly a hole in our database that I would like to fill. -Paul
I'm new to e-scooter, I got a few questions... What's better for longer ranges having higher voltage or amp-hour? Also, what's the difference in having greater wattage for motor hubs?
Greater rated wattage for motors gives you more power, for example up hill, and usually quicker takeoff. But you need good controllers to match. Unfortunately the Storm still uses the old square wave controllers which are not great for control. The Nami Burn-e, for the same price, has the new better sine wave controllers that should be the standard for all scooters going forward.
It takes a long time. With the charger it comes with charging takes 21 hours, but with a fast charger, you can bring it down to as few as 6 hours. -Paul
The battery locks into the deck with a key, but I'd be pretty nervous about locking the scooter itself, unless I could see it the whole time. A U-lock at the base of the neck, and pulling the battery out are probably the best countermeasures to theft. But then you've got a 30 lb battery on your hands. But the battery would fit easily into a grocery cart. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Fair enough, not being able to lock up your scooters and do things without it them in sight seems to defeat the purpose of the scooters function for me as I use it for my main form of transport in Auckland city, New Zealand. In saying that I had an Inokim Ox for 3 years. It was stolen last month, but not because of the locks I used. The thieves used a crowbar to pry the street post out of the ground that I was locked to; they just pulled the whole post out... The Ox had that nice steel chassis hole that you could lock through though. I never had a problem really leaving it and going out and about. Lesson for me is not to ever lock my scooter to a post that can be pulled out of the ground again. I have insurance so the best thing out of this situation is I'm now upgrading to and NAMI! cant wait to burn around the city on that. I like that the Nami has that roll cage handle at the back as that is a good locking point, and ill probably use 2 locks when running errands.
We don't have one coming our way, that I know of. We do have a Vsett 10+ coming though. The closest thing to the Vsett 8 that we have reviewed is the Splach Turbo: ruclips.net/video/XyKM0dEBfMU/видео.html
What is the most water resistant scooter that has a lot of range and can hit 40mph reliably with a 215lb rider? I'm a pretty big guy and I live in Florida. I really don't want a scooter that will die the second it rains as thats almost literally every day during spring/summer.
Hi Gregory, We didn't have any issues. I did four top speed runs back to back where I held it wide open for more than 1/2 mile each time. I have heard that some people had problems with controllers overheating though. It's surprising, considering that the Storm has the best heatsink I've ever seen on a scooter. It does use long motor cables though, since the controller for the front motor, is also located in the rear foot rest. So I wonder if that has anything to do with it. We actually have two Storms here and rode both of them hard without incident, but the weather is still pretty cool here in the SF Bay Area. -Paul

That's a good question. I haven't looked into it. I'm really comfortable riding in the rain (I've been commuting by motorcycle every day, rain or shine for >20 years, but I probably wouldn't want to ride this scooter in the rain because the throttle response is so intense, that it would be hard not to lose the front end when cornering. It's possible to turn down the throttle enough to smooth things out, but it still wouldn't be ideal, since I really prefer to be in rear wheel drive mode for rain. -Paul
Ok scooter dude! I am in need of your wisdom!! I’m looking for a scooter for around 1,500$ duel motors. And tubeless tires! * must have tube less. I really don’t want to have to swap the stock tires as soon as I purchase. Also if it could have roughly 40 mile range that would be cool
Oh yeah, I'm totally fine. Thank you for asking! I bounced right up. I wear really good gear because I never know when I'm going to do something stupid :-) -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Glad to hear you're ok Paul. "Never know when I'm going to do something stupid". Unfortunately this has no remedy 😂 I really dread electric scooters falls. It's really more dangerous than any other vehicle because you're standing. A relative fell from her scooter because an absolute stupid car driver driving in the street decided not to pay attention and park his car without warning on the bike lane, brilliant idea. She couldn't react as there was less than 2m reaction distance. Her ankle was truly f*** up for like a year and she still has pain. When I saw your fall and how you lost balance I said "NOOO NOT THE ANKLE!!!!".
I agree R. G. For me altitude is definitely a downside for scooters. When I raced motorcycles, I crashed over 10 times, and the only times I got hurt was when I lost it with the bike fairly upright. Lowsiding is easy compared to highsiding. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Agreed, an experienced racing pilot will know how to fall to mitigate injuries. It's even worse on scooters with tall and heavy riders. I fell once with a longboard. I felt it 😂 It really drives me crazy when I see ladies riding scooters (especially the non stable ones like Xiaomi) full speed (15-20mph) wearing high heels, skirt, sleeveless top, heavy bag on the shoulder, no gloves and no helmets or guys with shorts and slippers. If only they could realize that if they fall, it's gonna be cheese grater show with their skin and bones.
Great video . I own a Storm, and that abrupt throttle is too strong. I’ve ridden mines for almost 3 miles round trip only, and doesn’t make me confident it won’t throw me off. It’s just sitting in the garage.
Thanks! Have you tried setting P7 = 4 or 5? that helped a lot, without taking away any of the power. Turning up battery-save by adjusting P9 helps too. P9 = 2 is the default. P9 = 3 is battery save off, and P9 = 1 is max save, which makes the Storm feel a bit slower, but does smooth things out. Of course, riding in ECO mode or gear 1 and 2 are ok to. Gear 1 and 2 feel kind of dead, but ECO mode felt pretty good. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks for the advice. The first time I rode it, I did stop and adjusted P7 to 5 and had it in eco. Some one told me to adjust P9 like you suggested. I have some free time tonight and may take it out again.
You're right! The omission wasn't intentional though. I wouldn't ride the Storm in the rain even if it were IP rated though. Throttle response is too abrupt for rain riding. -Paul
It definitely fits in my backpack. That's my backpack we show the battery coming out of in the video. It's on the heavy side though. Not very comfortable to have 30 lbs on your back for a long time. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I wonder if they can design the deck to be "double deck"? So the riders can switch the battery packs around without "backpacking" them.
All depends on what you like. The BURN-E is more of a grand tourer, where the Storm is much more in-your face. Both are fun. For longer rides the BURN-E is more comfortable to ride. For riding like a hooligan, the Storm is hard to beat. -Paul
I don't see a compelling reason for the Storm over the Burn-e at the same price unless removable battery is really really important to you. The storm has outdated controllers that are jerky and uncontrollable (aka dangerous) giving you a false sense of speed but it's both slower on top and takeoff speed. Lower range. No head light. Hard to adjust height. Wonky rear foot rest that moves. Outdated stem clamping design with noise. Short stem. The Nami is better on all those fronts plus has modern 50Amp per motor sine wave controllers for putting that 72V power into the road rather than wheel spin. The controllers provide awesome throttle control on the turns plus a wide variety of adjust-ability like power allocation per motor. The Nami has a more modern platform when it comes to electronics.
The problem with these scooters is along with my thunder that I just sold is that they're illegal and almost every place as soon as you get above 25 miles an hour you've got a serious problem so if you're hitting 5060 miles an hour that's a big ticket and who knows if they seize your vehicle this it's your vehicle this has happened already in California and New York and Florida in a few places and the UK scary times if you own a fast scooter you're starting to crack down a lot more

It's pretty well protected from impact back there. I looped it doing a wheelie and the footrest dug into the ground pretty hard. It didn't damage the controller at all. -Paul
Backpack is mainly handy for carrying the battery upstairs to charge. Realistically, I'd want to rig something up to carry the spare directly on the scooter if possible. Hanging it on the base of the front stem would help with front end traction, but would definitely hurt braking performance, and slow down steering (slowing down steering might not be a bad thing) -Paul
These things don't seem safe. I had a cheap model in Korea that went 30 k/h and once my scooter went one way I went another. I can't imagine what would happen at 50mph. I want one.
It definitely makes the key vulnerable to bending if you leave the key in it. But if you take the key out it works well. Is that the downside you were thinking of, or is there another one? -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I think he's talking about getting dirt in the key hole since it is right where you put your feet. Yea that won't last. Dirt will eventually fill that entire key hole and your key won't go in any more. The other bad thing is that handle which is in the way of your toes shortening the deck even more. Handle should have been in the back or some how fold-able and retractable to be flush. And charge plugs should have been on the right since most people ride left foot front.

Surprisingly the scooter itself doesn't have an IP rating, though the battery itself is water resistant, if I remember correctly. The longest range scooter we have ever tested is the NAMI BURN-E followed by the EMOVE Cruiser. You can see the results of all of our range tests on our site -Paul

Only 43 miles? What a disappointment. Not worth $5000 in my opinion
What's your favorite scooter for long range riding? -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I haven't owned one yet. I thought about buying the Storm but your review changed my mind. Maybe a Weped FS or Hunter Quad
I haven't tested those. What sort of range do they get in a range test.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Weped supposedly 80-90 miles
The HunterQuad can do much more according to their YT-channel
We find that on our range test, we usually get 60% of the manufacturer's claimed range. But even 60% of 90 miles would be 54 miles which would break our range record of 53.3 miles set by the BURN-E. I really hope to get to find out at some point. Not having data from some of the top scooters is certainly a hole in our database that I would like to fill. -Paul
I'm new to e-scooter,
I got a few questions...
What's better for longer ranges having higher voltage or amp-hour?
Also, what's the difference in having greater wattage for motor hubs?
The main number to compare is Watt-hours (amp-hours times nominal voltage). This will tell you how much total energy the battery can store. -Paul
Wow these have come so far since the m365 commuter scooter wish Xiaomi would start higher spec models. How long do the battery take to charge?
It takes a long time. With the charger it comes with charging takes 21 hours, but with a fast charger, you can bring it down to as few as 6 hours. -Paul
when is the vsett series reviews coming? the scooters have been out for a long time now
Yes --- and we finally got one in our hands this week.... Stay tuned, our review will be soon, ESG style of course. 📊⚒🚀 - Trina
how does one lock this beast when out and about?
Where can i get a 2nd battery from?
How are you going to compare ranges when done at different speeds?
They are all ran on the same course with similar speeds for the bigger scooters!
Waterproof?
Is it possible you guys can do a review, on the "Vsett 8"?
We don't have one coming our way, that I know of. We do have a Vsett 10+ coming though. The closest thing to the Vsett 8 that we have reviewed is the Splach Turbo: ruclips.net/video/XyKM0dEBfMU/видео.html
What does an extra battery cost?
$1,595 is what I have heard. -Paul
1.Can you add a seat to it?
2.Are the motors both Brushless?
Motors are brushless. I don't think you can add a seat to it. -Paul
What is the most water resistant scooter that has a lot of range and can hit 40mph reliably with a 215lb rider? I'm a pretty big guy and I live in Florida. I really don't want a scooter that will die the second it rains as thats almost literally every day during spring/summer.
Nami Burn-E is an excellent choice

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thank you I'll check it out I'm guessing you have a review I'll go look for it!!
Have you found there to be any overheating issues with the Storms controller?
Hi Gregory,
We didn't have any issues.
-Paul
How do you compare gas price with dualtron storm?
You would be saving quite a bit! -Vosk
Hello, nice video ! Can I use excerpts from the video (without sound) to illustrate what I'm saying in my video?

I'd like to know if that removable battery deck can handle heavy rain
Hi Paul, what’s the low voltage reading for storm ?
The Cutoff point should be adjustable in the P-Settings. Thanks -Vosk
MY FAVORITE SCOOTER BECAUSE, I just hooked up my Dualtron Storm battery to my Wolf King GT and I can say this thing is now the ultimate scooter. Basically 67AH. Check out my latest video's on it.

Is there any way to make it waterproof?
That's a good question. I haven't looked into it. I'm really comfortable riding in the rain (I've been commuting by motorcycle every day, rain or shine for >20 years, but I probably wouldn't want to ride this scooter in the rain because the throttle response is so intense, that it would be hard not to lose the front end when cornering. It's possible to turn down the throttle enough to smooth things out, but it still wouldn't be ideal, since I really prefer to be in rear wheel drive mode for rain. -Paul
Can it be seated?
There is a seat attachment usually for most of the Dualtron scooters. -Vosk
Would be great if i watch a Nanrobot d6+ REVIEW
They really miss in the Bluetooth and app world on scooters
Ok scooter dude! I am in need of your wisdom!!
I’m looking for a scooter for around 1,500$ duel motors. And tubeless tires! * must have tube less. I really don’t want to have to swap the stock tires as soon as I purchase. Also if it could have roughly 40 mile range that would be cool
I felt pain when I saw the guy falling when wheeling.
Is he okay?
Oh yeah, I'm totally fine. Thank you for asking! I bounced right up. I wear really good gear because I never know when I'm going to do something stupid :-) -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Glad to hear you're ok Paul.
"Never know when I'm going to do something stupid". Unfortunately this has no remedy 😂
I really dread electric scooters falls.
I felt it 😂
It really drives me crazy when I see ladies riding scooters (especially the non stable ones like Xiaomi) full speed (15-20mph) wearing high heels, skirt, sleeveless top, heavy bag on the shoulder, no gloves and no helmets or guys with shorts and slippers. If only they could realize that if they fall, it's gonna be cheese grater show with their skin and bones.
I am 13 5 foot 5 and will this scooter be too tall for me
Slightly yes
Can anyone tell me if dualtron is better quality than Kaabo, stuck between the gt pro and the storm
Slightly better overall quality
Not by much

Hey can you make a video of the fastest high quality scooter with a removable battery for those who need that function for convenience... Please
Great idea! Thank you.

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide that's crazy.
Why he did not mention the water resistance? (Hint - There isn't any)
You're right! The omission wasn't intentional though.
I wouldn't ride the Storm in the rain even if it were IP rated though. Throttle response is too abrupt for rain riding. -Paul
I'm gonna wait for the storm ltd. Which will be a lot more powerful. 84 volts.
Can't wait! I wish they would announce them closer to when they are released, so we wouldn't have to wait so long for them! -Paul

The battery pack should be the size of a notebook PC, can be put in the backpack to be recharged at home or in office.
It definitely fits in my backpack. That's my backpack we show the battery coming out of in the video. It's on the heavy side though. Not very comfortable to have 30 lbs on your back for a long time. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
I wonder if they can design the deck to be "double deck"? So the riders can switch the battery packs around without "backpacking" them.
I was gonna get the burn e.. idk now. I got time to think about it. Lol
All depends on what you like. The BURN-E is more of a grand tourer, where the Storm is much more in-your face. Both are fun. For longer rides the BURN-E is more comfortable to ride. For riding like a hooligan, the Storm is hard to beat. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide oh ok. Thank you. Burn e it is then. Lol
How do you carry the 2nd battery? backpack? No lol.
Yes
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide ugh...no.

The fact that the controller is located in the rear foot rest makes me a bit anxious…
It's pretty well protected from impact back there. I looped it doing a wheelie and the footrest dug into the ground pretty hard. It didn't damage the controller at all. -Paul
Riding this with another battery(heavy) on your back is sketchy..

Good luck with that key hole, stupid position ,
It definitely makes the key vulnerable to bending if you leave the key in it.
