    Invest in Detail Guards, they actually prevent dirt from rising when dunking your mitt in. Every time you rinse your mitt off in the dirty bucket, you should always be rubbing the mitt against the guard on both sides. After, ensure you ring out all the dirty water outside of the bucket AND THEN dunk into the “clean” bucket. I’ve never had the “clean” bucket contaminated by following this procedure, even on the dirtiest vehicles (Canadian roads and environment). Additionally, the pre-foam and pre-rinse is very key. Folks using a pressure washer don’t take their time to allow the water to pressure rinse the dirt off. They have a tendency to wave it around as if that’s enough.

    You definitely have a knack for teaching beginners who aren’t aware of how much damage they can inflict with improper washing techniques. I do believe that unless they make the investment of a pressure washer, good microfiber wash mitt, wheel brushes, quality chemicals, buckets, and a solid drying towel, they just should hire a professional. Great job

    Great video Chelsea! In regards to the IK Foam Pro 12, what is generally your maximum pour into the sprayer? For some reason I always have difficulty getting the perfect amount for soaps but have great luck with Brake Buster in the smaller foamer. Plus I don't want to waste a bunch of product to foam the surface before the contact wash. The presoak with the wash on the Camry was quite effective and that's why I appreciate KCX Greenstar on occasion!

    Here is something fun we added to our mobile job chemicals/soaps that are water based. We randomly add in a few ounces of water based new car scent, leather, coconut, mango, ect.at will. Since they are dilutable you just shake to blend. Has no effect on the outcome except added scent temporarily. May not be super cost conscious but we buy scents @ $15/gallon so the added scent boost makes our process so much more enjoyable.

    Hi Chelsea….new UK subscriber catching up on some of your older videos😊. Nice to see a pro detailer using the 2 bucket method where 1 bucket is for the wheels. Unlike you though I don’t bother using a second grit guard and pressure hose to decon my wash mitt - I use multiple mitts. So only a completely clean mitt ever goes into the wash solution bucket. Yes, it means extra outlay on mitts, but I think it’s the absolute safest method. Have you tested the GTechniq Crystal Serum Light / Exo ceramic coating combination?

    Iron decon is so satisfying on light paints. The grey on my car shows it so well. White is just another level.
    Question about washing ceramic coatings, there’s a lot of conflicting info for washing them. Some say you need ph neutral gentle soap and others say you need a strong detergent to get the properties back to normal. Is the stronger soap more for an occasional wash? I use absolute for my weekly or biweekly maintenance wash, but I’ve noticed when I take my car to the local touch less (mainly for the undercarriage blast to get rid of heavy salt after storms) the hydrophobic properties are brought back immediately. Obviously I pick the wash that has no protection added.

    • @attention2detailswchelsea
      @attention2detailswchelsea  Год назад

      So, technically most coatings should be able to withstand a stronger soap it shouldn’t weaken it, but the soaps at a car wash can either be a low acid, (which can actually do a really great job at removing mineral deposits, so that might be why you’re seeing the coating come back to life) but some car washes also use a really high pH almost 13/14 on the pH scale. Most coatings are going to tap out or be chemically resistant up to 13 so without knowing the soaps that they’re using it can be risky but technically it shouldn’t affect it if it is a quality coating. Some of your weaker coatings that are more retail level (like you’re 12 to 24 months coatings) could be weakened but if you have a pro grade coating on there it shouldn’t technically hurt it. I think it depends on the coating and on the soap. Also agitation will play a factor in it as well

    • @Stainlessautos

      @@attention2detailswchelsea thanks for the reply and the info!
      I have Adams graphene ceramic on it right now. Seems like a pretty beefy coating from my experience, but by no means pro level. I’ll keep that in mind next time I get the itch to run it through the touchless. Salt just scares the crap out of me for the underbody. I think I would be inclined to reapply the coating if that meant I would have a flushed underbody every month or so.

    Do you still use dark fury, supi products would that be a good pre rinse

    • @attention2detailswchelsea
      @attention2detailswchelsea  Год назад +2

      I use dark fury for every detail, for wheel wells, engine bay cleanings, and door jambs. I will use it sometimes for bug removal but never on a dry panel. If it’s dry, it will actually leave what appears to be stains on the paint. (I know it’s not staining it. I think it’s actually removing some of the polishing oils out of the paint and making it look dull where it has come in contact with paint). In a foam cannon it gets diluted enough to be safe, so you can use dark fury as a foaming presoak that way but I have found it’s too strong in a foam sprayer and will require me to polish afterwards to remove the ghosting or staining that occurs.

    @attention2detailswchelsea You are one of the best RUclips detailing channels I have watch. You thoroughly explain techniques and your thought process. If a car is coated with a ceramic infused sealant (e.g. Turtle Wax Flex Wax Graphene, Griot's 3in1 Ceramic Wax) but not a ceramic coating and traffic film is not removed with the high pressure rinse, would you use a highly diluted APC pre-wash to remove the film? Much like Green Star can be added to Gsf? Keep up the excellent videos.

    • @attention2detailswchelsea
      @attention2detailswchelsea  Год назад

      Yes adding green star or another quality apc to your foaming pump sprayer can be another method to use but you have to use common sense when going that route- make sure you have wet the panels ahead of time and are working on a cool panel because if you put it on a dry, hot panel, it can stain the paint because sometimes they’re not dilluted enough properly. I like soaps like this that are engineered for this very purpose because there’s less risk of using it wrong. Some people just dump aPC into water and they’re not going to have the proper dilution ratio and can either have a too weak or too strong.

    Quick question young lady. Why are you (and others) using the yellow tip as opposed to the white tip?

      I use the orange tip actually which is 15 Degree tip and keep it at a safe distance

    Thoughts on simply using a rinseless wash instead of the degreaser, and then Foaming up for the wash?

    • @attention2detailswchelsea

      There was way too much dirt in here for me to not do this step. Even the best rinseless wash wouldn’t have made as much of a dent

    • @attention2detailswchelsea

      No Id recommend Eulex for bee pollen or sap stains if that’s what you’re referring to. Izer can be used to remove rail dust though which is the orange stains on paint

    Does Purest remove the wax from the car to the point where drying aid with coating protection wouldnt be useful and wax would need to be re-appllied? Trying to figure out how to maintain car myself in between more serious detailing

    • @attention2detailswchelsea
      @attention2detailswchelsea  6 месяцев назад +1

      It won’t strip it but it can weaken it but the drying aid should replenish the hydrophobics and protection if you’re using a quality one like Titan from Phoenix EOD or Ceramic Gloss from DIY Detail

    • @attention2detailswchelsea

      The chemical Decon shouldn’t hurt it but the clay bar can scratch the coating/paint so if your vehicle is coated, I would say stick with just a chemical Decon, but that should be sufficient
