I don’t think you guys know what “lane keep assist” means…it’s NOT an automated driving mode. It’s a safety feature to keep the driver from inadvertently drifting into another lane.
For Honda lane keep assist will actively steer the car and automatically keep it between the lines without your intervention. Lane departure mitigation is the Honda feature that will steer the car back into the lane if you drift out of it.
@@dalerr18 Yup - but I think the point is that 'Super Cruise' is in no way comparable to 'Full Self Driving' - whether from Tesla, or companies like Waymo.... and attempting to use them as a form of 'self driving' is unsafe and - technically - illegal. At best, Super Cruise could be compared to Tesla 'Auto Pilot', although it appears AP still has the edge in functionality (based on paper reviews - not used either personally)
@@logicalChimp it’s self driving insofar as it’ll keep you in your lane and stop itself from colliding with whatever is in front of you. With the added benefit of switching lanes for you if you want. Which for highway driving that’s really all there is to automatic driving.
@@dalerr18 Not really - Self Driving is a defined term that covers a range of capabilities... far more than just staying line lane (when there's clear lane markings, etc) Yes, Lane Keep assist is probably very nice (I don't have it, only adaptive cruise control - and even that is helpful), but it's nowhere near being 'self driving', and describing it as such is unhelpful. Easy way to tell if it's really 'self driving' or not - ask yourself who's responsible in an accident. In a 'proper' self driving vehicle, the people in the car *are not responsible* if the self driving feature is active... if they're still legally responsible, then it's not 'self driving', it's a driver-assist. It may have varying levels of capability - including limited automation etc, but if the driver is still responsible, and has to be ready to take over, then it's a driver assist.
@@logicalChimp there are different degrees of self driving. Adaptive cruise, LKAS, LDM, are all forms of self driving. Super cruise and autopilot are solidly in level 2 driving automation while something like Tesla FSD is just barely scraping level 3 as things currently stand. Driver assist *is* a degree of self driving. In fact it’s literally defined as level 1. As far as legality is concerned that’s a bridge that has really yet to be crossed and is entirely up to the legislature in question to determine who’s at-fault regardless of what level of automation is available at the time.
I think super cruise is an amazing system but only in the most absolute perfect conditions that’ve been mapped out. Meanwhile a system like Tesla autopilot learns as it goes, and can even work on local back roads and in the city/town, not just stuff that’s been mapped out.
Auto Pilot doesn't learn anything. It's adaptive cruise control with lane centering. FSD is what you are thinking of and it's currently 12K extra, so it damn well better be learning.
Mapping out systems are the best because there are a finite number of roads, so all of it can be supervised. It is tedious, but once it's done, it's reliable. The Tesla doesn't "learn as it goes". It does, however, collect data to be sent to HQ. The computers in the HQ do the "learning", which may return to the cars in the form of OTA updates. Oh and Cadillac's system is flexible and expandable too. Nothing stops their systems for evolving over time, given they already have the necessary sensors installed.
And here I am thinking the Escalade was just another big boxy and lacking in curve appeal American SUV, then thanks to this video the Cadillac Escalade has a whole new technology that enables this super cool and comfy highway cruise driving mode. Very impressive actually.
You guys are totally right about the chrome. Normally I prefer all blacked out, but it's much more fitting having the chrome accents with a Cadillac. Also, having wood trim on the inside is a must for any Cadillac.

Tesla isn't hands off, anywhere. If you are taking your hands off the wheel you are ignoring the nag from the car, and are risking an accident because it makes errors. Super cruise is hands off. That's the difference.
Cadillac was always one step ahead in terms of technology and implement of features. You don't buy Tesla for autopilot, you buy it for being an electric vehicle.
Lane centering and adaptive cruise are all anyone really needs on the highway and they work well on our 2016 Civic and 2018 Accord. Most cars have these 2 features now and it make a huge difference on long trips. You just need to rest left hand (or right) on bottom of steering wheel with enough pressure and it will always stay on. Blind spot monitoring like on the accord is an added bonus. When these new systems change lanes by themselves are most people still checking blind spots and not fully trusting them in heavy traffic? If so, no less stress than doing yourself.

My 2018 Mercedes's intelligent cruise functions allow drivers to drive handsfree for up to 15 seconds (if I remember correctly). And in nasty weather like that in the video, Mercedes sensors, radars, and camera tend to be covered by splash of water & snow, and thus a Mercedes loses its Active Lane Keeping and some other functions from time to time, which makes you have to put your hands on the wheel all the time.
Mercedes doesn’t have any failsafes and is designed for you to steer the car. It’s as capable of driving on its own as any other car but isn’t programmed to do so. It loosing lanes etc is done on purpose so you keep your hands on the wheel
I've used that system for 20minutes without touching the wheel by putting a gatorade bottle wedged in to keep the torque applied on the steering wheel. It works really great on highways and long distance trips.

@Yuri I'm very sorry for your mother-country is suffering, I don't know how it affects you, but should be painful. My deepest solidarity. Regards from Colombia - South America
Wut
Thanks so much 🇺🇦❤️
2 Fast 2 Furious me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good stuff.
luv u guys and all u do.. Thank you for your very cool reviews
You guys have to try open pilot. Get the comma 3 and add self driving to any of their supported cars.
The dads look Gangsta!
As a fellow Southern Ontarian, I'd like to say that the North-South Divide is not north of Sudbury, it's more like Parry Sound. Sudbury is 100% a Northern Ontario city
Love that you guys complain about the 407 with a Pepsi Rollie on. Ps - love your Rolex collection.
3:50 … #DrinkingGame … take a swig of beer every time they say “SUPER Cruise”.
No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress in trading you're still way ahead of everyone who isn't trying
or who quite after the first bad experience! the falling 97-99% are not a myth! it is logical
People try their luck when they are scared to loose their money or have failed during the past and that's me making a loss of €4,670 last year October on crypto investments but not till I was referred to Mr Jurgen bright a rare and Trusted crypto expert trader who helped me recover all my losses and made extra profit for me
@@lesleyannaffleck505 This is not my first time hearing of Jürgen bright and his amazing trading skills but I have no idea how to reach him

Clearly you haven’t tried BMW Driving Assistant Pro drove on the I95 from New York to Florida in my 2020 x5
Good Review.
Do you need a social credit score for SuperCruise to be activated by Cadillac or is it available immediately upon purchase and delivery?
😂😂
😂😂😂👍👍👍
In China your social credit score does have to be in the top percentile.
Rs6 !(fistbump) 🤜🏻🤛🏻 😂 great review!
Glorified cruise control on limited highways is alright, but stop and go traffic is a much more practical use. The majority of trips are much shorter and on streets, and not even work commutes, we know this from EV statistics. Things happen, conditions change, let's see what happens in a work zone, if a tree is fallen in the road or new lanes are painted.
I think that auto left lane change is what owners want & need in a massive SUV like this: "roadway superiority"
The king of all SUVs
Show us it stopping at a stop light, making an unprotected left hand turn, and try putting on glasses with eyes painted on them so you can sleep.
Hi Jakub and Yuri, I am a big fan of your channel! Speaking of Tesla, I live in GTA and will take delivery of a Tesla Model S Plaid by the end of this month, I wonder if you would like to make a video on it :)
you guys should test openpilot
Would love to see it on the Element, but I know it doesn't have the hardware.
Never thought a sidewall could get so attractive! Nice
Nice review! Altho you guys can surely afford 407 with Jakub's pepsi on his wrist. It looks great btw! :D
Have you seen how much the 407 costs? Need to sell pepsi to pay the bill
@@TheStraightPipes fair point. would def keep the pepsi and take 401 instead haha
You guys ever try openpilot? I have my own fork of it so it behaves like the stock Honda system. I have been using it for over a year (with 2x steering torque mod) and it works during snow storms and everything.
If you don’t want to select super cruise, can you select regular cruise mode? Or is it only available in super cruise?
Yeah you can do adaptive cruise or regular cruise. SuperCruise is its own button
401 from London to Guelph, goes through Cambridge which just got a huge widening (6 lanes/direction I believe). Construction is still finishing up I believe.
This is at best a parlor trick. Comparing it to Tesla is like comparing a bicycle to a fighter jet. I think I could build a map system like this myself. Tesla AP is unbelievably good, and Beta is cracking the nut on city streets. I drive 99/100 miles in AP or Beta in my Tesla. Supercruse can't compare.
5:11 NOT A JOKE !
Word of caution for anyone visiting Toronto.
Now just the other night with nothing to do
We broke a case of proof 102
And started itching for that wonderful feel
Of rolling in an automobile [zz top]
Thanks!
5:10 so in honor of you first Super Cruise AND so you’re not out of pocket 😉. Love your reviews keep up the great work!!
I want to know, what ever happened to the box test?
I'm not sure if they have enough boxes to test it :D
Timing and…kids
Try OpenPilot on a supported car like the Toyota Corolla. It will be interesting to compare oem lanekeep assist with after market options.
So Chevy, will not update older model years with super cruise with the newest mapping data??? If so, that is dumb.
Do you get confused with SuperCruise or adaptive cruise control? Like expecting the steering to turn but forgetting that you are only using adaptive?
If it passes someone, will it move back to the original lane?
🤷🏼♂️
I wanna a test where the autonomous driving is engaged and the car suddenly loses control. Or evasive manoeuvres are required.
Autonomous cars don’t exist.
Super Cruse has been around for decades and has never been in a vehicle I've seen yet!
It’s been out for less than five years? It’s rapidly spreading across the GM lineup.
Cadillac, GMC, Chevy vehicles on the road now. I’ve used personally and sold dozens. Okay
@@NoahPrine
Sold dozens, I'm so NOT impressed !
If Davis is correct and it's been on the market for 5+ years and you have sold "dozens" I'll be generous and say "dozens" equal to say 36 vehicles. That means you have sold one approximately every 2 months, that's not a great track record for you and an absolutely shitty track record for general motors and all of the brands you listed.
You do understand that, don't you?
@@bidensucks6792 supercruise is becoming more common now but it used to be extremely rare. It’s been out since 2016-2017. I have sold around that number of models with supercruise, not vehicles total.
Thanks for trying?
Loving the vids!
Much love from the UK!
It would be nice if we could test self driving tech in cars that don't weigh 6000 lbs
A tesla model 3 is 4200lbs.
