- Patrick Lee Mullins was a beloved and talented librarian at a high school in Manatee County, Florida. He was looking forward to retiring, celebrating his 30th wedding anniversary, opening his own repair shop, and becoming a grandfather. But on January 27th, 2013, Pat went missing while boating on the Braden River. His body was found 9 days later. The Sheriff’s Office labeled his death a suicide - but was Patrick actually murdered? 10 years later, the family is still searching for answers. Who killed Patrick Mullins?

Pat Mullins was my high school librarian, this happened my junior year and it rocked our whole community. He was such a kind man and loved by so many. You guys are one of my fave podcasts, thank you for covering and shedding light on this case! Hoping some answers can come from this ❤
@Rebekah Skidmore (ب_ب) What a tragedy! This one is another mystery for sure! Just doesn't make any sense. (ꏿ﹏ꏿ;)
Really sorry that you had to go through this and that he is not around any longer. 😢❤
So sorry you, your community and his family and friends has to go through that. Absolutely so tragic.
KENDALL AND JOSHARE THE BEST
That’s horrifying and crazy that he was your librarian.
There is no way he shot himself and then tied up his body. He couldn’t have shot himself after he was tied up. These Police Officers owe this family some answers.
He was probably murdered by someone who has protection from higher-ups. Secret societies and blood oaths come to mind.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Probably involved! (The police)
@@peach0naleash - I was actually thinking the same thing!!! Down the waterways here in South Carolina, I KNOW there are some ‘respectable’ people that are paid to look the other way. I’ve known since High School.
He would have tied himself to the anchor before he shot himself
Thank you so much for covering this case. Mrs. Mullins was my librarian in high school and I remember when she was going though this. I used to eat my lunch in the library with her. She is the sweetest soul and her and their family deserve closure🤍
I’m confused. Was Pat AND his wife both librarians? You said you had Mrs. Mullins as a librarian but they are talking about a Mr. Mullins, the librarian. I did just start the episode. Maybe it will answer it for me. Lol. 🤷🏻♀️ 😂
They both were librarians.
@@marianelson305 Thanks lady! I figured that out now. Lol Appreciate you. ☺️
I’m very sorry for yours and your community’s loss. I hope they find the answers they need to bring closure to the family and friends and community. Much love.
We are so sorry for your loss, both of them sound like such wonderful people. We hope she and her family get answers about what really happened to Patrick one day. ♥️
Took me 4 yrs at university to become a financial advisor yet some police academies last 13 weeks 😳
I was just thinking the exact same thing
That’s actually very significant isn’t it. It’s so hard to believe it’s so short. I’m not sure of the length of training in the UK
That is crazy! It is almost 3 years for the garda (police) in Ireland, and they don't even carry guns!!
It's crazy that the police don't do more training and learning. In Sweden it's 3 years at the university and then I think 1 or 2 years "police in training" working in the field with an other officer before they are fully trained police officers and can call themself a police.
@@Grace-467 I'm from Kerry 💚
I live in Bradenton and have my entire life. This has changed the dynamic of our entire community and there is a very large amount of people who still actively put up posters asking for info and try and keep Mr, Mullins’ name alive. I hope someday we have answers
What an amazing community that cares so much about all its members, even when they are not around.
Exactly, me too! I’ve never heard them do a Bradenton case! Also if I run into them on the Island I will fan girl so hard 😮
@@TheNinnyfeeI’m sure if he was from ANYWHERE the whole community would react the same way. He was just as Kendall said “a salt of the earth” kind of person. He had a positive impact on so many of us. All educators do.
That's really wonderful that the Bradenton community is still working to find answers. I hope the truth comes out soon.
I just want to let y’all know that the past two months have been so rough on me mentally and physically. My 8 year old underwent his 3rd open heart surgery and being able to watch you and Josh has helped me keep a sense of normalcy between living in the hospital, driving 800 miles from home to the hospital, all of it. The sense of calm I get when I hear the intro is something I can never begin to explain. I know to most people y’all just do a podcast and help bring attention to true crime cases, but for me it’s so much more. So thank y’all for doing what y’all do and helping me keep my sanity during one of the roughest moments of my life 💚
Praying 🙏🏼 for you and your child

Absolutely agree.
So right.
There has been a woman missing in my little town for about 2 years. Everyone in town seems to know what happened and freely talks about it but the police basically refuse to look into it.
I would fill out her form to ask her to do this case.
If enough people in your town reach out to LE about the case and request that it be properly investigated, then it will force the police in your town to take action.
Dee Warner? If so, also from Lenawee County

24:32 I live in district 12 in Florida. The medical examiner here dr Vega is a crap shoot. I literally told my family if something happens to me do not let his office touch me. This case and others are examples of their failures
Ooh, I’m curious how you got this opinion. Is this common knowledge in the area, or do you work in the field?
Oh wow.
❤
Do you know what the term "crap shoot" means?
Wow... how disappointing.
There is a missing man from my small town in Oregon. His name is David Rojas. He was last seen in Willamina, Oregon in February. There has been no media coverage and there has been minimal efforts done to find him. Please considering covering his case. The police are being very hush and I don’t think anything has been done. There has been so search parties in my area 😢😢😢
She has a form to fill out. I hope your case makes it on.
i love how passionate Kendall gets about this, you can tell she really cares about getting justice for these victims
I’m sorry pat wrapped rope around himself threw the anchor over shot himself with a Shot Gun threw himself (“fell”) overboard then what…. How did the gun disappear how did he get the gun if he never had purchase history. I’m appalled by this investigation!!!!
Why would he feel the need to tie himself to an anchor if he was going to shoot himself?
Incompetent police work..
It somehow went in the water and floated away, following the police's logic 🙄

The police in this area of Florida are inept, apathetic, and crooked. This is so sad. I hope his family and loved ones can find answers.
That's why we are sooo happy that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is being asked by Sheriff Rick Wells to take on Pat's case!
The camera quality is CRISPPPPP! As someone who's been here since day one, I can't believe how far this company has come in production. So proud of you guys
It is a delightfully well-oiled machine- easy to watch and easy to listen😊
I'm in tears when she's looking through that photo album 😢 My heart aches for her and her family. OBVIOUSLY THIS WASN'T A SUICIDE
I’m from Sarasota and have lived in Bradenton a couple of times. Bradenton, a.k.a. brain dead town is a good old boys town, and that includes any form of law enforcement. I would not be surprised if whoever did this to him had very close ties to law-enforcement. I hope this family one day gets justice.
Plus all the drugs and crime
@@kimmiegirl810I think the brain dead implies that lmao.. drugs usually cause brain deadness and then people commit crimes
Josh my dad fished his whole 47 years of life before he died and found zero dead people. In fact I'm 40 now and I live in a Beach Town a mile from Lake Michigan which is quite treacherous, and I don't know anybody personally who have been beachgoers or fishermen that have ever found a dead body. Obviously people have found them, but one let alone three is a very uncanny number of dead bodies for that man to have found.
I agree, also from Michigan. I thought maybe that guy could have also been counting deceased loved ones as bodies he’s found maybe?
Kinda true. Not there yet by age but I honestly am good if I don't find any dead bodies either in my lifetime (and I plan to at least make it to 80 if healthwise possible) =)
Now let's wait for the wild childs who have seen some deaths to early in their lifes and tell you "I'm not surprise in this job and lifestyle that happens xy frequently."
Uncanny but there are people who have been struck by lightning multiple times 🤷🏻♀️ life is weird.
My dads a fisherman. My whole life. I live in Maine. I’ve also done fishing for 6yrs ish. And the only thing we ever found was a backpack with a “dead cat” in it. I didn’t look in it cuz it stunk. But now I wish I had looked to make sure it wasn’t human parts. It’s weird to me to throw a dead cat in the ocean?
Not unusual for Florida.
Mr.Mullins was my librarian when I was in 9th grade he was an amazing person I remember when this happened and thinking there was no way he did it.
I respect that you two are critical of the police. That’s very healthy and it’s the most responsible way to consume true crime media.
A lot of these cases truly are solvable but the cops do fumble it.
I totally agree
Cops never do their jobs..
I don't understand how any Americans can trust their police anymore.
I was super interested in this episode because it's just so outlandish to be tied to an anchor, but I started crying when his wife was reminiscing on their life together...what a massive injustice. I hope the family gets some closure and answers one day; and that the person/people responsible are locked up.
We sure hope so. Each year that passes makes it so much more of a challenge.
Just for reference, you can become a US police officer in 13 weeks. In Germany it takes 3 years to become a hairstylist.
I'm not Sherlock but there's something off in this calculation. Clue: It's not about the hairstylist.
Takes longer than 13weeks to become a hair stylist in USA! ….so fucked.
Not to mention they mainly come from a short college course that you need a 65% average to get in. They quite literally hire the dumbest fucking people.
I'm so glad you were able to re upload, and we got to watch it the 2nd time, an amazing true crime pod cast, and it shouldn't have been taken down the first time. ❤
Ya we were so annoyed! Sorry that happened, and thanks for coming back to rewatch!
omg never saw you guys covering a local (for me) story coming. I graduated from the highschool he worked at, his brother was my U.S History teacher!
250 episodes!? Wow! I've been watching since episode 1 and I can't believe how far you guys have come
It’s so crazy seeing this stuff happen so close to you. I grew up in Bradenton and attended LRHS. I never had this teacher personally, but I remember how much this affected the community. Thanks for giving this one your platform, this family deserves to know the truth and finally have peace in this situation.
Thank you for watching♥️
I think Pat happened to run into Damon on the river, sees a drug deal. Cartel, whoever, seeing they know each other force Pat on Damon's boat, murder him, then forced Damon to do the rest. To ensure his secrecy they made him complicit. That's my theory. I feel horrible for the family 😢
That's a really good theory!
Mr. Mullins sounds like a kind man who was loved by many. (And as a fellow library worker, I can't help but feel extra invested.) I hate that this happened to him, and my heart goes out to everyone who cared for him. I hope the truth comes out.
When I first saw the image of the skull, I thought it was from the propeller of motorboat since he was found closer to the surface. Did not expect gunshot wounds. This case is mind boggling.
Josh and Kendall you both are amazing on what you do. Fighting for justice. Both of you should be very proud. 👏
So agree! Without keeping these unsolved cases in the public view, they won't be solved. Thanks so very much.
This case is frustrating
They could’ve done so much more about investigating his “friend”
Very frustrating!
According to the sergeant in charge, they still have no reason to look into the family friend.

He sounds like he was such an amazing man and the lack of justice and closure for his family is unforgivable.
Maybe Damon had been borrowing some money from Pat and that's why Pat had been stressed out leading up to his tragedy. And maybe Pat found out Damon was using the money for drugs... maybe he killed Pat out of drug-fueled rage and fear of getting caught.
Wow interesting theory!
@@missmamadearestI doubt they were in a relationship, but I think Damon was in love with Patrick, Patrick didn't return these feelings, and Damon got mad and shot him.

I was in the middle of watching and it cut off and said the video was removed for violating rules.... glad to see you got it uploaded, it was just getting interesting!
NO WAY this was a suicide. Heart goes out to the family.
Healthcare workers have to take CE courses to maintain their license. I’m wondering if law enforcement does that/ or could start requiring that
Nope! And, I have heard they don’t require a high IQ to be a Police Officer. I would NEVER speak to the Police without a Lawyer, NEVER! The Detectives get tunnel vision, they have to close cases so, who cares if they get it right?, 🤦🏼♀️ It is very scary to think about. They can put you away for the rest of your life because they think you did it.
Thanks Josh and Ken for touching on this case. We need more answers, as a community we are still hurt and confused. He was and still is loved/missed by many!
I'm thinking exactly what you were saying Josh. Pat was wrong place at wrong time, Damon was there and feels guilty he could do nothing and is now afraid to speak, thinking drugs involved. Great one - I’ve never heard of this case before and that's quite shocking! Blessings MHP family ❤️ you all....
You were to pure for this world Pat. May you rest in peace.
Thank you Mile Higher for your hard work researching this case. Wishing comfort for his family.
Pat Mullins was my high school librarian. He was definitely an interesting human. I wasn’t close with him, but my favorite teacher her was incredibly close with him and his family. It was a very close family friend of mine who actually discovered his body.
This case was so tragic, we all remember here in Bradenton. Thank you for covering this case. Hope I run into you two on AMI ❤
As a data analyst my first thought was they could’ve definitely gotten into that corrupted file.. 🤔
Early on, you mentioned that shortly before he died, he was acting a bit different and having headaches, but I didn't hear that mentioned again? They thought he was maybe stressed? Maybe there was someone else involved in that stress and his death?
Maybe a poisoning was not working? Or stress because he saw something and was trying to be kind and help Damon come forward and come clean.
I wouldn't put any faith in a doctor diagnosing stress headaches, personally. Headaches are hard to find the root cause of and doctors have a tendency to blame things on either weight or stress. I've had chronic headaches for decades -since my teen years- and doctors have told me they're due to stress, but I'm very lucky to live a virtually stress-free life, so I know that's not right. They just say that.
Pat seems like such a great man. What a loss. I definitely do not believe he committed suicide and frankly, it’s offensive for the police to suggest that so heavily in this case.
Listening from Bradenton, FL may he RIP. This story is so sad
Thank you so much for covering this story!! I've been a long time viewer and I was so surprised to see you guys covering this case. Mrs. Mullins was my librarian in high school when I was a library aide and she was also my mom's teacher when she was in high school. My mom used to babysit her sons as well every now and then as a teenager. What happened to their family is absolutely devastating so thank you for choosing to spread awareness about this case. 🤍
Hope you and family are doing well!
I live in Bradenton, and I remember when this happened it was INSANE
I have never heard about this case before now and it is heartbreaking. My thoughts go out to his family and I hope one day they can find some closure. I'm also wondering if I'm related to this man. I have lots of family in Florida and the eastern US.
I was so sad when the video stopped earlier 😢😢
OMG I thought I was losing my mind! It started, but then disappeared and couldn't find it on their page.
@Nia Lincoln you aren't alone. Fortunately, a message popped up when their video stopped playing, which said, "went against their standards" 😒

Absolutely lovely to see Kendall and josh. You both are wonderful people, incredible speakers. I just adore you both. Thank you so much for telling these stories and sharing anything and everything that sticks on your minds
And I definitely don’t think you are police haters. These investigations deserve attention and most often, they do not get them. You are providing an example of things that aren’t taken seriously
Regardless of anyone’s stance on law enforcement, things need a revamp. A change. And I am appreciative of your criticism. It is absolutely necessary
I remember learning about Pats case on Unsolved Mysteries. It's so sad and bizarre. I personally think the suicide theory is wromg and prob extremely hurtful for his family. Pats whole family seems to be wonderful and loving.
Gasp!! 😲 Yo..I knew this case sounded familiar.
Unsolved Mysteries is where I heard about Pat!
RIP Robert Stack..❤ Legend
The new ones are great, but without Robert S. it's just not the same..😏 You know. Lol
This case is so interesting. I literally got chills when you guys mentioned how Pat’s sons wanted to/ were able to come home so quickly when they found out he was missing. That just shows how close they were and how much of a great father/husband/ man Pat was. I agree that the suicide theory makes NO sense, especially with everything Damen had to offer. I’m so surprised that the police didn’t look more into him, but that just shows how unprofessional they were. OOORRR the police knew about the potential drug activity, had inside information because some of the cops were involved with that, and didn’t want to bust themselves. Sort of a stretch, but that’s what came to my mind and again, anything is possible (not saying it’s plausible).
Anyway, keep up the good work guys, I always enjoy tuning into Mondays for Kendall, Wednesdays for Mike Higher, and ofc Thursdays for the Sesh. Love y’all ❤❤❤

Right lol. Unless they didn't want to be found for insurance payouts.

Probably killed on Damon’s boat then dumped later in the water. So freaking sad and awful
I'm definitely leaning towards Damon. It's just strange how he acted... it had to be guilt.
Why would he want to sink himself after shooting himself? If your going to take your life why?? It just doesn’t make sense. He didn’t EVEN OWN A GUN AT ALL??? Come on
I understand the theory of Damon watching and being traumatized, but the fact he tied that same knot makes me think more he took part in it. I think there was a drug related incident. Maybe another guy shot him and Damon was told to tie him up and sink him. Also, there could have been a third boat.
You guys are amazing for covering cases that desperately need solved. Keep up the great work ❤❤❤
Love Earth Breeze. They also donate to charities with every order!!! ❤
This is my first time hearing about this case. Thanks for covering it.
I 110% believe that he saw something he shouldn’t have and someone killed him for it. I had an old roommate from Bradenton and I remember talking about this case and it’s possible ties to larger crime activites. My friend also was in the Coast Guard for a while and said that finding bodies when you’re on the water that often is very common. Also, he stated that Bradenton is known for having organized criminal activity, a neighbor of his was killed after involvement with the cartel. Also also, it’s well known that criminals dump bodies in the water in Florida, between alligators and Mangrove trees it’s likely that someone could never be found. Pat deserves justice, thanks for covering this story ❤
And the absolute best investigators we had were the Coast Guard. They took charge. They told the sheriff's officer where to go to get footage. They provided info on CSX, marina video and hospital. They called places along the rivers as well as nearby hospitals. They documented every word in their conversations; whereas, the detective didn't record a single witness statement. The Coast Guard was told by the sheriff's officer to stop searching on the second day, but they continued well beyond that!
So sad knowing that ten years later and still nothing is terrible…
Congratulations on 250. How awesome.
Passion is a big one, proper education, and training after. I’m going for my forensic psychology degree and hopefully a lot more people can pursue this and make the world a better place.

A man died in Baton Rouge a few months back. When he was found he was rolled up in a rug . Cops said it was an over dose.
If I remember correctly 2 people are persons of interest now.
They finally managed to arrest one of the two sex workers in that case as well as a guy that was with them that night...
Considering how many drugs were in his system the accidental overdose finding makes sense in that case, though. Such a tragic thing for his family...
Yes! That case is wild.
The paint scratch on Pats boat is consistent with Damon’s boat, Damon tied up his dog the same way Pat was tied and used the same knot, Damon experienced extreme guilt and posted admission of guilt quotes on social media and later overdosed from coping with drugs. Pat couldn’t have physically tied himself and shot himself in the way that it happened, especially without blood spatter getting on his boat or the weapon never being found or purchased. I hope Pats wife received his life insurance because there’s no way it was suicide. If she wasn’t able to receive it, the police dept owe it to her for the lack of appropriate investigation
Oh wow.. that would be so horrible. Corrupt police and investigators screwing you out of deserved support money. That would make an already tragic situation so much worse.
I guy I know vanished without a trace a few years ago. He had trips both fully paid for and half paid for. The cops have given up and people are saying that the police assume it's a suicide.
I completely understand the frustration this family is experiencing. it's so heartbreaking.
Loved that you guys shared this story!! If you haven’t already and are interested take a peak at the Byron Smith case. It happened in my hometown and was just absolutely ridiculous.
So nice to know Mrs.Mullins found new love..❤
I bet Pat would want her to be happy..🙂
I can't believe no one heard anything. A shotgun blast isn't exactly quiet.
Law enforcement did not share with the media that he died of a shotgun wound to the head for months. The family learned about it from the medical examiner who actually did the autopsy, Dr. Broussard. That poor man was shocked to learn that he'd just shown these gruesome photographs to Pat's wife, son, and sister when they'd only been told that he'd suffered a head wound. We only met the ME about 4 months after Pat died. Not many are going to remember a loud boom months later. Plus the wealthy homeowners along the route were not asked for their video recordings which might have been key to the solution.
I was born and raised here in the 941. I have never heard of this case. Thank you for bringing awareness!!
