I'm working really hard on trying to maximize my harvest. By harvesting the green onion tops off my onions I'm doubling my onion harvest! I love doing bulk cooking days like this. Honestly, my food processor is what makes this job so easy!

Definitely film your multitasking! That’s real life and we definitely need the encouragement.
All I want is to encourage so I will keep it up!!
Agree, it's practical and how most people live. It's bonus content!
I also agree. It's definitely pertinent as well as enjoyable! Wonderful videos. No time to get bored or restless and move on! I don't have to force myself to watch it all, and that is awesome and not that common. 😊😊😊
It felt more relatable, I loved it
You are absolutely amazing honey!!!
Thanks for what you do❤️
Did anyone els just binge watch almost all of her videos !?! Just ran across your channel. Your inspiring ! I’d Love to see everything you do in your busy cooking/canning/harvesting days! Also I would love to see a follow up on the potatoes, like what did you do with them after they started growing to prevent green potatoes . I planted some but I don’t know what to do with them now that they have grown almost as big as my tomato plants .
Wow that is so sweet! I just added grass clipping and more leaves
This is only my second year growing potatoes and last year I did it in raised beds and didn't hill them.....
But I planted them like 12 inches deep
Thank you so much! I have a lot of grass clipping so I will do that I appreciate the advice ! I planted them in just the ground ( my first garden) . Keep up the videos! Love watching you, and getting inspiration and ideas !
She’s full of energy!!! Something i don’t have.
Show the stuff!! Not just the recipes! loved seeing the extra things going on in your kitchen. I'm 71 and learning lots from you. Thanks!
Strong women both of you.
I love the little extra quiche that you made with the pesto. I also love how you do all your prep work and put together your meals.
Definitely multitasking. The way you utilise as much as you can, of time, oven, stovetop and ingredients is educational and inspiring.
YAY ok I will! Thank you Jennifer!
@@AcreHomestead yeah have at it! Go for it! Great job! And blessings to all of you.
I do a year of pesto too. I plant 6 sweet basil in buckets and get them 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide by watering everyday and topping them to keep growing. Makes 20 pints. Neighbors and inlaws get pampered!
I like that lettuce leaf basil. Gigantic. Mmmm!
By all means do what you like. Multitasking in the kitchen is an art everyone can learn.
Omg... I just found you and I'm in LOVE! This is SUCH an enjoyable style of filming! So many good tips and tricks, and I loved seeing all the stuff you were doing at the same time in the kitchen. Now I get to go binge watch the rest of your videos!
She is one talented Lady.
I grow onions and leeks every year but haven't thought to use the tops in a pesto! Great job!!!!
i hope you make pesto!
@@AcreHomestead I will next year when I have more onions
Leek tops are also good in asparagus cream soup!
I’ve just found out this year you’re not supposed to use the green tops of leeks 😅 I’ve always seen my dad use them and always have used them too.
I have found that I have to cut the leek top pretty finely (or puree) and cook them till they are tender. They add a delightful onion flavor without the harsh bite. You're not supposed to use them in cooking cause they are so "tough".
I want what everyone wants. Seeing you doing your thing in the kitchen and garden. How to utilize with little waste. I didn't know that I could freeze cherry tomatoes. Thank you for your informative and interesting videos 💞
frozen fresh tomatoes are the best year round.
Hi Becky, your cooking skills are a delight. You are fearless in your ability to try new things and your channel is a joy to watch. Take care.
You mentioned the pesto being good on eggs (then made a quiche! 😅) and it made me think of a small mom-and-pop restaurant near me that makes "green eggs and ham" which is an omelet with ham, but they beat pesto into the eggs before they make the omelet. It's SO good!
there's a breakfast restaurant in hawaii that has that in their menu! great idea haha
Good morning I love your cooking and canning and freezing I have learn a lot from you
Sounds good!
I love to watch people cook. I don't care if they have a recipe. I cook with what I like to eat. Sometimes is edible.... sometimes not. It's a learning process. I think recipes are guide lines and then you make it you own.
Haha I totally agree that sometimes they are edible and sometimes not!! That is so me and sometimes they are amazing but I can't totally recreate it lol
I definitely like the chaos that is the whole enchilada! Do you ever get to dinner time and realise that while you've got 15 things on the go - there is nothing for dinner!!! LOL :)
Yes I do!
Definitely include what you’re doing in the background along with the recipes you’re highlighting; it’s so much more interesting, as well as consistent with what the rest of us are also doing at home. If I don’t have 5 different things I’m accomplishing in my kitchen around the same time, then it’s not a normal day, lol.
I love to use carrot tops in pesto as well. Another part of the plant most people waste. If you forage, lambs quarters make good pesto too. Lamb's quarter tends to take over many gardens so why not eat it?
Great idea!
I do that, too! I wouldn't dare to call it a pesto in front of an itallian, but it tastes soooo good.
I’ve been making pesto with basil and spinach for years but never thought to use onion tops. This looks delicious!
I hope you like it
How much spinach is required to make 12 pints of pesto?
@@kristinatidwell6563 I’m not sure. I was gifted a few 5oz containers of spinach. I don’t measure and I did not put it in pint jars.
Your content is very enjoyable. I like watching people go about their home teaching others what they know, enjoy, or are currently learning. Personally, it feels like we're hanging out, so I enjoy the DITL "tag-along's" as much as any other video you put up. I think your whole look, lifestyle, and approach to life speaks to a lot of ladies and is therefore enjoyable. At least that's the way it is for me.
I appreciate that! You are sweet! thanks for hanging out with me :)
Hello - I just 'accidently' found your channel - I LOVE YOU! Great style, great energy, great ideas, great mixing it up - doing a couple of other things at the same time, while sharing all the time!! Wow....I'll subscribe and will learn so much --- and I'm 70 yrs old and been around the kitchen for years - but you, my dear, are a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
I love how enjoyable it is watching you in the garden and cooking. I think it would be lonely, but then I see the pure enjoyment you have and it makes me feel envious of the motivation and "at oneness" you have.
Work in gardens with friends or listen to her channel while working there
Heeeyyyyy, you’re almost up to 5000 followers!!! Every time I watch a video I check to see how many more followers you get! Awesome!!! Congrats girl! You’ll be to 10 then 100 thousand followers in no time!
Thank you so much!! I'm blown away and so humbled by it!! It's crazy! Thanks for all your support! You are the best!!
@@AcreHomestead I just found your channel today. Subscribed. Several years ago I was at the gardeners market and they were selling garlic scapes 3/1.oo. I had been throwing these out. There was a Chinese woman buy so I asked her how to use them(she was horrified when she found out I was throwing them away). She said she used them in stir fries, then I found a recipe in Mother Earth News for pesto similar to yours. I do everything by sight and taste
This young woman is wise far beyond her years and is an inspiration to watch. Her subscribers are going to grow exponentially in short amount of time.
Your work ethic and style of cooking/living is inspiring. Whatever you want to show or teach or talk about, I’m here for it. :)
thank you!!
Becky I personally enjoy it when you use the product you're preserving and use it in a dish. This method gives us an idea on how to use it so we ourselves can get creative. You're pretty awesome in the kitchen, I'm striving to be more productive as you are. Thank you and Happy kitchen time. Missouri Wrightchk
I have seen all of Becky's videos multiple times. I am so inspired by her.
Please always feel free to say what else is going on in the background. Learn lots watching you 'make do' with what's left and get creative with it.
OK awesome! I liked showing it and I will do more of it :)
Just found ur channel and LOVE!!! U asked if people like to see what happening on the side and yes I'd love to see what else u have going on. Ur giving me inspiration and great ideas..thank from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
YAY from Canada!! I'm glad you are enjoying them and are here hanging out with me!
Yes, please! Show the other things you're doing. It blows me away that you made that quiche on the fly! I'd also love to see the final "resting place" for the things you make. Loved seeing you begin in the garden and then, it'd be great to see you stacking it in the freezer. I'm obsessed with your videos. I wish I'd had these 30 years ago when I had the energy to do everything you do! haha
You remind me of me...40 years ago. But...I am willing to bet your stuff tastes awhole lot better than mine did. Thank you for sharing your life and recipes to a well aged student! Keep up the great work!
I would love to see you just being you. Meaning I think it's great to see what you have going on around you. Because we would theoretically notice that you had a little left over and it wasn't that big of a deal to toss, but it was still exciting to see that you used it in a quiche. Plus it's always fun to see what other people throw together for a dish. 🤪😊 Thank you for all your hard work and showing us what you do! I just found your channel tonight. Have been binge-watching. 😁
This looks fantastic and what a nice thing to have ready to go. One thing I do is freeze my pesto thicker, more like a paste. That way i can use it as a spread for sandwiches or wraps. If I want to use for pasta, I add more oil, broth or pasta water to thin. I use walnuts too . Like the taste and the price. :)
Love the side recipes! Great tips for making the most of your time in the kitchen, I'll definitely be trying to implement them myself
Film it all it shows how utilize time and materials. The big project was the pesto. The bonus for just a few minutes more was the quiche. If I’d only know this years ago when my children were young. Thank you. Acre Homestead is now my favorite channel! 😀
Wow thank you Ruth!
I loved the multitasking. Because that’s what I try to do.
Yes, it’s interesting to see how other people use their time in the kitchen. Feel free to tell us what else you’re doing.
I can do!
@@AcreHomestead I agree I can hear you and I enjoyed this video. I dont like basil pesto either. But I have had other things made into pesto and down the hatch.
I'm an old gardener with years of canning and freezing experience but I never thought of this. Thanks
Yes, I prefer seeing you throw in the recipes and seeing what else is going on in the background. I think that's fun.
Yes please do more as it's very inspiring and nice to see how to adapt recipe
You got it! More to come!! Thanks Yvonne!
Never be afraid to add anything in your videos, it is real life that makes us all “normal” 🤣
I am as about as "normal" as it gets. I can share my normal!
Not even sure how you came into my life, but I’m so glad you did! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
I love the random recipes you throw in there as you go naturally!
I love all your videos, please show everything. Can’t wait for your next video.
Can do!! Thanks for the feed back!
I like all the videos. I love that you have so many ideas that I had never even thought of.
Glad you like them! I will keep making them!! thanks so much
Suuuuuper helpful to see you doing all the things and making the most of your time. That's one of the best parts of working with others is picking up their gold nuggets if wisdom and efficiency.
THANK YOU💖
Love you. Love the chitchat. Love your succinct teaching and finally, yes, I love the little extras that you throw in. It’s a true privilege to watch someone multitask in a kitchen and you are definitely a pro.
Keep doing it your way, it’s great! Love to see all the periphery and your commentaries make my day. Just found your channel and you’re my new favorite!!
Awesome!! Totally agree on putting more parmesan! You said 3 cups--I thought, hmmmm.... No way. 😆 And that's totally how I cook--recipes are meant to be modified to an individual's tastes, budget, and ingredients on hand. I'm about to make my first leek and vit mache pesto from my garden. Walnuts are definitely my go to with pesto! Great video. Looking forward to checking out more.
Exactly!! Thanks I love what you said about taste, budget and ingredients! That's what I do everyday
I like the way you are running your videos on cooking. You show how to use and utilize everything you have laid out. Your videos are much different from other RUclipsrs which gives us a different aspect on cooking in the kitchen. Always, you are doing a great job keep it up.
Ok, so I'm sitting here in Austria and I've now bought these cups for your recipes. Now I have the freezer full of this pesto and it's heaven. This is a live changer!
So glad!
I Just love you. You inspires me with your every video. I wish I had your knowledge years ago.
Much LOVE from Sweden
Wow, thank you! That is so sweet of you to say :)
I love watching you do everything, gardening, cooking and baking. Can’t wait for the rose soap video💖
I have discovered something interesting today. Thank you! So nice to meet people who are not lazy.
Becky, U R a joy to watch. Love what you choose to share with the public. Multitasking is great!
thank you!
Watching your video from Australia, my first one and I’m hooked already! Love your approach to cooking, you’re a natural presenter and yes please keep showing us what else you are cooking. I can’t wait for my onions to be ready so I can try this. Glass jars are my fav way to freeze things. Now to make a cuppa and watch some more of your videos. Well done!
I love watching when you multi task! Onion top pesto with homemade powdered ranch chicken in the crock or Instant pot! Yum!
WOW SO GOOD!! Thanks!!
I just made almost the exact recipe from my walking onion greens. I used it for a cold pasta salad at a BBQ. Wonderful recipe!
I enjoy seeing how you whip together dinner while doing everything else. And seeing how you use what you've just created was a lovely treat.
Show all multitasking! That’s how I operate too, I like it.
I just found your channel and love what your doing and how you're presenting it. I subscribed, and yes, please continue with the multi-tasking...love it!
Hello 👋 Jeanie
How are you doing today?
I think most people enjoy the multi tasking. Helps us be more efficient in our time as well 🥰
Absolutely I want to know all that’s going on when you’re in the kitchen. You make making a quiche effortless and now I feel confidant enough to toss a few things together and make one myself. Love watching you in the kitchen!
Loved this video and how you showed what you do in "real life". Cooking with what you have around the house and using up extra pesto in a quiche was great to see! Keep up this style of videos. Oh also liked the impromptu recipe! 💜
You are sweet! I will keep doing them!
Roasted sunflower seeds are are really nice substitute to pine nuts.
Pesto is like magic in my life. Thank you for your video, and your great narration. Your charisma is 10/10 !!!
Yes I live watching you prep and cooking shows. It gives me ideas. I love how you don’t waste.
We love to do grilled cheese sandwiches with pesto and mozzarella. Delicious!
I will absolutely be doing some pesto experiments after watching this video. Thank you for the inspiration!
Us too! I like to throw a sliced tomato in mine
I loved watching the multi-tasking! I’m inspired to make pesto now!
Hello 👋
How are you doing today?
Don’t stop what you’re doing I love watching you I get so inspired by what you are doing answer to your question do everything thank you your videos are amazing Jeannette New Zealand
I love the multitasking that you do. No time wasting, great ideas for multi use like the leftover pesto, throw in some eggs and make a quiche! Fantastic!
I looove that you multitask like that and would definitely like to see it in your vids! :)
I am going to try this with the tops of my walking onions and pecans.
Please do more batch preps from garden produce. I'm really maki g use of the pre made pie crusts.
It's it SO nice to have pre made pie crusts on hand!! And you know what's in them!! I can make more vidoes like this! Let me know how yours turns out!
I like seeing you do all the peripheral stuff, always a source of inspiration. Love this, will make it once it’s harvesting time here in the southern hemisphere.
I like the multi tasking. Gives a more realistic view of how you run your kitchen that I enjoy
HI Becky, I really enjoy seeing what you have going on in the background. I like to make the most of my time as well.
Perfect!! I will keep doing that!!
Yes, I love the multitasking! If I’m doing one thing I might as well be doing as many things as I can get done, while I can. I like to be as efficient as I can. The onion top & walnut pesto is ingenious! I’m not crazy about basil & pine nuts.(I can eat it, but I don’t love it.) But I love onion tops & walnuts! I think I’ll try some of that this yr! Thank you for the great idea! Have a great evening!😊💜
If you do, Kathy! Let me know what you think of it! I hope you like it!
@@AcreHomestead Absolutely!
It is definitely apparent that you are a natural in the kitchen. You know how to pull things together in all situations. Thanks for all your recipes and inspiration.
I just came across your channel & absolutely love what you are doing! Thank you for adding the quiche at the end! It's something I will definitely try! Please keep showing us these tips & tricks for your leftover recipes, it's really inspiring plus it shows us what you can do with a little leftover!
W💚W I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WHO GROWS AS MANY ONIONS AS ME I LOVE IT 🐝 EVERYBODY CALLS ME THE ONION QUEEN 🍃🍓🐞🐛
I LOVE ONIONS!!
That looks yummy I like everything keep doing it
Will do! Thanks so much Danielle!!
Love to see EVERYTHING that is going on, especially how you use the items you preserve, so a yes to things like the quiche!
You are a multi tasking genius! Please show it all. I love seeing how you repurpose and use up all the bits that I previously thought of as trash! Beautifully done.
Watching your videos all the way from Bucharest 💞
Awesome! Thank you! That's amazing!
Love watching your videos. I am also in Western Washington so it is helpful to see what I should be doing in my garden when.I can’t wait to try the pesto! What a great idea to use it in the quiche as well!
My brother in law just graduated in May from Wester Washington V! It's so yummy.
I am so grateful that I found your channel. I love it all. It’s great seeing what goes on at the same time ❤️
I love how your dog helps with cleaning any dropped bits. I love your videos, thrifty ideas, and self awareness!
definitely want to see it all. commuting less and working from home this past year has allowed me more time to work in and tend to my garden. I've never heard of green onion top pesto before and I have a ton, so this video was amazing. love seeing how you used the extras and frozen harvest as well. thank you for sharing!❤
Wow, thank you! Thanks for being here!!
You are amazing!
This looks really cool, but is it overwhelmingly oniony? I know traditional pesto uses garlic which I like, but it's not the main ingredient.
it's mild. not to stong.
You have such a radiance and sense of joy about you…..as delicious as the pesto no doubt tastes….thank you, green goddess woman!
I showed my husband this video last week and yesterday, he harvested our onion tops and made a large batch of onion pesto. It is delicious!
That is awesome!
Can this recipe be given a water bath if I didn’t want to freeze it?
You can't can it b/c it has dairy in it...
I’m learning so much and love your style of cooking. I have three children and my two older girls are exited to try some of your recipes. We have a big garden and want to preserve more. So greatful for you sharing your process. I love the multitasking. I work the same way and the tips I pick up from your efficiency are so valuable! 🙏
I like it when you show ideas on using "the scraps". It helps me think of ways to utilize every-single-thing without waste. :)
I also love that you showed the quiche recipe. I love the natural way you flow through your kitchen and don’t change a thing. I’d choose your “show” over ANY of the Rachel Ray types.
I love how you maximize your time in the kitchen by making more than one thing or a lot at a time! That was inspiring to see you just toss a few things together that I wouldn’t have thought to do to make the quiche and use the left over pesto in the bowl. Just Wonderful! Hehe ❤️💃🏼🤗
That's exactly how I cook, rough measuring and no rules. I love it. Having to stick to a recipe can discourage people from learning to cook, which could be one of the best things in their life if they tried it.
Yes, I love the videos, with you making and showing us how. Thank you, for taking the time.
I get so many great recipes from you, I love canning and seeing how you get so much accomplished at one time is just awesome to me …. Going to look for your bulk pie crust now! That is such a great idea!!!
💚💚💚 some Walnuts, Sunflower seeds and Pine nuts mixed together are my absolute favorite flavor combo for pesto!!!!💚💚💚
I just love the way you proceed through life. Its inspiring! I love your pesto recipe.
Thank you for including all of us on your journey.
Yes! Please show the multi tasking and all of it! I am learning so much, thank you, thank you!!!!
Just be yourself. That is what makes you so special.. Love you
