ehh.. I bought this lens also cause I thought it would be nice for video but it was not. Focus motor is super loud, manual focus is hard cause focus ring only rotates like 20deg. All in all it is very nice lens, super sharp, f2.8 lets in so much light, it is incomparably better than kit f3.5-5.6. Focal 17-50 is a very good range for DSLR, super sharp, super sharp and f2.8 fixed! Nice to have for still photography, not so good for video though, I would recommend 18-35 plus 50 1.8 which I both have. This is my personal opinion based on experience I had with this lens.
Thanks for watching. I use Rode Brand. It's the VideoMicPro - here's the amazon link - smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YAZHRZM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks for upload, and showing the auto focus noise. I was thinking to use this for vlogs and talking heads. I figured I’ll just buy an STM 24mm for the vlogs, and get this for photographs/Brolls This way I can cover both and travel light at the same time. Thanks again, cheers from Manila!
Sorry, should have mentioned it in the video. I shot the review/next day edit on the Canon g7x mach ii - my backup camera - but really a dope VLOG camera. cheers mate!
sorry for the delay! no I didn't edit. so, it only really seems noticeable when it is total silence - doesn't happen that often in a VLOG. I use a Rode mic on top of my 80d, if you want to get ride of the noise totally use a lav mic instead. worked really great for me in this vid ruclips.net/video/1BaRLR8MA8w/видео.html - take care and thanks for watching!!
@@DouglasMcNamara Cool, I'm Costa Rican that's why I asked. I'm glad this is your favorite place. If you ever come back let me know, there are awesome places to visit not every tourist know. Did you keep the lens? If you did, what are your further thoughts about it? I'm about to buy it for photography.
Cool :) Thanks so much for the offer. I've been going to Tamarindo every summer for the past few years, I'm kind of addicted to the place. YES, I kept the lens and love it. I don't take many photos with it, but the ones I do take are awesome - cool Bokeh / Blurred background. For the money I think it's a dope lens. Cheers and Pura Vida!
Wrong settings super noisy low light. Which is impossible to make. Shutter speed or aperture mistake. Because as a fast lens and 2.8f you can go really wide so its should be superb in low light.
Douglas McNamara you see its a lesson for you because im looking forward to buy one because now in uk big discount 190£ for new one. And if i do not know about cams and settings and i would like to buy one after your video i just say oh damn thats a shit lens for night shots... so next time try to push the best ;) anyway im not trying to be idiot commentator just help for each other to make better videos sub from me ;)
you sound like Jason Nash
he looks hell like du plessis from south african cricket team

@Los Daniellos B isn’t 18-35 loud on autofocus as well?
Not sure to go with this or the sigma 18-30
Nice work man, does the Dual Pixel Autofocus work with that lens?
Is this good for photography? I’m stuck between this and the sigma 18-35
Hey which mic did you use when you were out filming?

Hi, do you recommend me this lens for video and wedding photos,? I don't have any money

Great video! Thanks alot
What if you out a mic on the camera like rode? Does it reject the sound?
I am curious on this as well
Whats the first lens you where using??
Sorry, should have mentioned it in the video. I shot the review/next day edit on the Canon g7x mach ii - my backup camera - but really a dope VLOG camera. cheers mate!
I didn't really hear the noise, did you edit that out? If so, how can I avoid getting that nasty auto focus noise in my footage?

It's good for video making?
I mean this footage looks really bad, but it might just be the person behind the camera. He would be much better off just filming with a smartphone.
Bro which camera with lens recording in starting pl s plssssss
the intro is shot on the Canon 80D with the sigma lens. the review where i'm talking is shot on the Canon g7x mark ii. thanks for watching!
Yea this is the lens i need
nice
Did he say "pura vida" at the end?
Hey! Thanks for watching. Yeah, I stole it. It comes from Costa Rica (my fav place), means Pure Life. Cheers mate!
